Andy barges into my small apartment just as I zipper my bag shut.
“When did your water break? Daniel’s out in the car waiting to take you to the hospital. How close together are the contractions? Do you have a hospital bag for the baby?”
I cut her off before she can ramble on anymore.
“I texted you a few minutes after it broke. Everything is packed and ready to go. Can we leave now?”
She grabs the overnight bag and the small diaper bag. She follows me out of the apartment, making sure the door is locked behind me. We take the elevator down a level to the main floor, exiting through the glass front doors. I climb into the front seat next to Daniel. Andy climbs in behind me with the bags. Once we are all in the car, Daniel speeds off towards the hospital.
