I stare at the baby booties. Two sets. One black. One red. Gender neutral and cute.

"So what are we going to do with these exactly?"

"You are going to text Nate and tell him to come to your house. When he gets here, he's going to find you somewhere with the ultrasound in hand. Then, once he starts to put the pieces together, you will bring out the booties and announce that you are having twins!"

I nod. The plan actually sounds very good.

Now I can't wait to get Nate's reaction.

I just hope he doesn't flee.

"Okay. I'll text him and tell him to come over."

She claps her hands together as my fingers dance across the screen as I type out my message.

Just got back. Still looking to make it up to me?

I'll be there in ten. Let me just call my mom

"Where does he normally find you?"

"On the couch. In my bedroom sometimes. Mostly on the couch curled up in a blanket. "

"Exactly how I find you. No surprise."

"Hey. Carrying this watermelon around all the time is exhausting!"

She laughs and points to the couch.

"Go get comfy with the photo."

She doesn't have to tell me twice. I lay back on the couch with pillows propping me up. It feels amazing.

"Now, all we have to do is wait for your clueless boyfriend!"
