"Scourge you ok?" Bone asked tapping "Scourge's" chest.
"Y-yeah I'm fine."
"If you say so..." Bone said then let go of Scourge.
"I'm sorry for killing Snake, I didn't see him with a collar so I thought he was that forest cat I was talking about." Scourge said.
Bone sighed."It's... Fine."
Scourge could tell Bone was upset, he had this sadness in his eyes but he still managed a small smile.
"I'm going to go clear up what happened." Scourge said and dashed off.
Scourge called a clan meeting and explained what happened.
"What you just witnessed was a TEST. You all passed for not interfering BUT if you see Scourge ever getting cornered and I'm for example dead, you all have to be there and protect him." Scourge said. Some cats murmured and some nodded.
Scourge flicked "his" tail indicating the meeting was over.
He jumped down and padded into his alleyway.
"Hello, Bone!" Raven meowed.
"Oh uh hi Raven," Scourge muttered.
"I was wondering if you could do me a favor?" Raven asked.
"What is it?" Scourge asked.
"Die-" Raven was about to leap on Scourge but was pulled back by the tail.
"Sorry, Raven but we can't afford you to come and hurt our precocious deputy, Scourge would be saddened," Lilly said.
"When did you get kit bodyguards?!" Raven hissed.
"When you just tried to kill me, look I don't have time for your games right now so if you could leave me alone that would be great!" Scourge said in a low growl.
"Fine." Raven left the den.
"Scourge we have a small problem." Midnight said.
"What is it? Scourge asked.
"We don't fit in the box no more," Lilly said pointing to the box.

"It looks like you going to have to sleep under the dumpster." Scourge said.
"Oh ok!" Midnight said and swept under the dumpster.
"Wait for me!" Lilly said and ran under the dumpster.
Scourge jumped on top of his dumpster and drifted off into a daydream.

Bone padded out of the alleyway and headed to the main alleyway.
"Hey Scourge wait!" Fang called out.
"Yes?" Bone said.
"So... How's it going?" Fang asked.
"Uh fine?" Bone said.
"If you say so!" Fang said and got closer to Bone.
"What do you want Fang?" Bone asked.
"Oh, nothin just that I found a protester that wants to overthrow you and was planning on doing it but I attacked it and made it suffer. If you want to meet them you could come with me." Fang sneered.
"Really? Ok but it needs to be quick, I need to find Bone and tell him something important." Bone lied.
"That fucking cat," Fang muttered.
"What?"
"Nothing, come." Fang lead Bone into his alleyway.
"In there." Fang pointed to the cage.
Bone was hesitant but walked up to the cage. He peered into it and at first, he didn't see anything but then a cat sprung its self at Bone. Bone did not flinch or move he just stared at the cat. He reeked of the smell of catnip and he had rabies.
"Fang, this cat is dangerous you have to kill him." Bone said.
"Why not let Bone deal with him, I'm much weaker and Bone is most experience," Fang suggested his yellow eyes glowing.
"No! Bone is too important. If he gets infected we have to kill him and I won't allow that, not on this earth and not ever!" Bone hissed.

".... Ok Scourge," Fang said.
Fang opened the crate and the cat lunged at Bone. Bone froze not knowing what to do. Fang then tackled the cat and ripped his head off.
"I'm not collecting his teeth but the claws I will happily collect." Fang purred.
"Y-yeah you do that." Bone said.
"Are you ok?" Fang asked.
"I'm uh... Grateful." Bone said.
Fangs ears twitched then he padded towards Bone. He went behind him then pulled Bone towards his stomach. He felt his white chest fur on his back.
"You're welcome Scourge~" Fang whispered into "Bone's" ear.
Bone felt "his" fur grew hot but snapped out of it.
"I have to go, Bone is waiting for me!" Bone said then ran off.
"What are you two going to do?!" Fang yelled out.
Bone ran fast but then almost slipped on something wet. "FUCK!" Bone yelled out but then caught himself before he could slip.
"Fuck?" Fang's ears pinned down and sadness swept over him.
"I have to speak to Bone!" Fang growled.

Bone ran into Scourge's alleyway and saw Scourge sleeping in the corner of the alleyway. Something came over, the urge to go sleep next to him. Bone carefully padded over to Scourge.
He lay next to him and watched him sleep. Scourge started moving in his sleep, he curled around Bone. Bone smiled and leaned against him.
"Sleep tight my precious Scourge."

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.
