《Someone Like Adam》64. Gentlemanly?

Tomorrow was our last exam and due to the stress and the 10pm curfew, I couldn't talk to Adam properly, let alone make out with him. And to say that I was missing his touch would be an understatement.
Only one more exam, Ali.
After the stunt that we pulled one week earlier, Adam had refused to answer my call late at night because he wasn't sure he could control his "primal urges" one more time.
Stupid Adam!
Shaking my head to clear it from his thoughts, I closed my eyes and began counting till thousand. I had reached five hundred and fifteen when I finally succumbed to sleep.
...
After the exam, Sophia, Emily and I drove to the nearest mall to buy our dresses for the prom. Mr. Brown had announced that our prom was going to held this Sunday and Chloe had already threatened half of the school to vote for her as the prom queen.
Shallow bitch.
I still remember what she did to Adam and I still hate her for it.
As far as Noah was concerned, he was still not talking to me, despite all my efforts. I even tried to persuade Adam to forgive him but he was just as stubborn. Stupid men with their stupid, fragile ego.
"Have Damien asked you out for prom officially?" I nudged Emily to take my mind off them.
"Yep, he did." she shrugged and I couldn't help but notice that she looked rather uninterested.
"Aren't you happy?" I whispered, keeping my eyes on the road so that we don't end up being in an accident.
"I am." she said meekly. "But I'm more eager to move out of this town ASAP."
"But why?" Sophia's head emerged from the back seats.
"Did Chloe do anything again? I swear I will kill that-"
"She didn't do anything." she sighed, her eyes showed frustration and exhaustion. "It's Justin. He is making it really hard for me to be with Damien."
I rolled my eyes and I could feel Sophia do the same.
"I really hate him. He bullied you for four years and when you finally found someone who is sincere with you, he suddenly realizes his interest in you." Sophia muttered under her breath.

"He is a dick." I added as the car stopped in front of the mall.
"Hmm." she hummed and all three of us left the car.
"I'm going to prom with Andrew, not that anyone asked." Sophia said in a fake hurt tone.
"Wow. That's great. Did your Dad finally approve your relationship?" Emily asked excitedly.
"No." she sighed. "But he doesn't need to know that."
Sophia's relationship with Andrew, the lawyer in his Dad's firm was quite complicated, for her father didn't want her to date yet and Andrew couldn't think of going against his boss.
At the end of the day, I just wanted my friends to be happy. And if her happiness lies with that guy, I just hope he is best for her.
...
"We have been waiting for fifteen minutes. Is she sewing the dress or wearing it?" I joked as I scrolled down my mobile screen. Emily was trying her dress inside the dressing room while Sophia and I were waiting on the couch outside the said room.
Sophia had already found her dress. It was a black off-the-shoulder mermaid gown. The dress looked fabulous against her caramel skin and I couldn't help but squeal at how gorgeous she looked.
Emily had found a red halter gown for her and she was afraid that it won't fit well. When she finally stepped out of the dressing room, our mouths hanged open in awe. The dress fitted her body like a glove, accentuating all her curves and behind.
"Damn." Sophia commented while I just passed her a full blown smile.
"Isn't it too body-fitting? See this stomach pooch." she pointed towards her stomach and I groaned.
"Em, you look amazing. I'm sure this dress will give Damien a stroke." I said and she giggled.
After that, we gave another round to the mall to find a suitable dress for me. We were about to lose hope when Sophia found one for me.
All three of us stared at the dress in admiration. I didn't know how this dress would look on me but one thing was sure, it was stunning. From the eye-catching royal blue color to the slightly plunging neckline, from the intricate pattern on the back to the flowy bottom, everything was perfect about the dress.

Before either of them could touch the dress, I called dibs on it. Once I tried it on, I immediately know this was the dress. I couldn't wait to see Adam's reaction when he will see me in this dress. He once told me that royal blue was his favorite color.
So blue it is.
After paying for it, we three made our way to the food court and ordered cheeseburgers, fries and Coke to curb our appeitite.
By the time I reached my house after dropping both of them, Adam was already waiting for me in front of my house.
"Aww. Look at you waiting for me like a lovestruck person." I teased him as I stepped out of the car.
"Lovestruck? You wish." he said and followed me inside once I unlocked the gate.
He inspected the shopping bags in my hands and tried to take a peek inside. "It's my prom dress." I said and hid it behind me. "You can't see it."
"Why? I thought as your date, I have the previlige to do so." he whined once we reached inside the living room.
"Date? Who said you are my date?" I raised my eyebrows and asked.
"Are you forgetting that you are my girlfriend?" he cocked his head sidewards and asked. "Nobody is stupid enough to ask you out in my presence."
"Who knows!" I shrugged. "By the way, if you really want, you can ask me like a gentleman." I smiled sheepishly but the glint in his eyes told me that I won't be smiling for long.
"Like a gentleman, huh?" he smirked and took a step towards me.
"Yep." I grinned, taking one step away but my breath hitched when in just two strides, he invaded my personal space and cornered me.
"You want me to act like a gentleman?" he whispered, still smirking.
I nodded, instead of speaking because his proximity made my throat constrict. It was too long since we have been alone that my body started tingling in anticipation.
He lowered his head until it was leveled with mine and placed a small, lingering kiss beneath my ear that made my skin warm.
"Does that qualify as gentlemanly?" he said, trailing his lips down to my collar bone. With a small movement of his hand, he pulled the thick strap of my top down from my shoulder and peppered small, warm kisses along the cold skin of my shoulder.
"Adam!" I started to stop him but the only thing that erupted from my mouth was a small, frustrated moan.
"Is this gentlemanly?" he cupped my buttocks and pressed his body to mine, his groin grinding slowly against my lower stomach while his mouth doing wonders against my skin, causing a groan to leave my mouth.
His hand continue kneeding my butt, his lips now licking the hollow of my neck. "That's... Uh.. That's enough. You made y.. your point." I said in hushed tone.
"Are you sure?" I felt him smile against my skin. Before pulling back, he took some skin of my neck in between his teeth, applying gentle pressure on it. My head fell backwards and I bit my lips to stop another moan from leaving, a loud one this time.
After he pulled back, I kept my eyes closed for a moment and let out few deep exhales. He had once again left me hot and bothered and if it wasn't the time of Dad's return from the office, I would surely punish him in my way.
"I hate you." I said breathlessly once I opened my eyes and found him smirking.
"I know you do sweetheart." he chuckled and the word caused my heart to swell up in happiness. I tried my best not to show on my face how elated I was on hearing the endearment.
After he left, I flopped down on the couch and hugged my knees.
Everything was going too perfect to be true and I was afraid. Afraid of losing him, afraid of ruining everything. What if like in the movies, I somehow ends up messing everything good between us? The thought itself churned my insides and I suddenly started feeling nauseous.

But Emiluna is not a normal girl and her destiny far bigger than she could have ever imagined.Join her as she finds out what awaits just behind the horizon.[Word from the author]I am looking to create a fantasy world that has some logic to it and stays believable even as characters gain power and progress in levels.Classes and level quantify the people's progress, but they do not artificially inflate their power to demi-god levels. I am primarily trying to write a captivating story, not "power-porn". That means it will be slower than the fast burning litRPG you might be used to, but it won't burn out that quickly either and I won't drop half of my plots at the wayside. I should mention that English is not my native language. I hope it is mostly unnoticeable, but sometimes I manage to slip some awkard sentence structure in there (German sometimes puts things together in reverse). It it also my first time writing an actual fantasy novel and the first time writing anything at length in English. Any constructive feedback is very welcome.Credit where credit is due: Cover picture by Paul Bica (Licensed under CC 2.0)Check out his amazing photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dexxusYes, my cover picture is a photo, not a drawing. :D I might try my hand at some Paint-ification later to add the title.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
