《The Tales of love- I》1.1:"Where I belong?"

towards his bedroom door he watched how the eagle eyes were on his every action. He already knows there is no escape now as much as he wanted. He had to do it.
She was waiting patiently for her husband who she had never seen before. It was some old tradition to not have both the people who were to marry to see each other until they are married which seems ridiculous to her intelligent brain as to how do then people expect them to have children on the first day together and more.
The door opened and she remained unfazed from her position which she was in for the last two hours however she never imagined her husband first words to break her existence.
"I only married you because my mother wanted me to I have nothing to do with you anymore". Was his last ever words to her
******
Their married life started with a kick which changed her personality but she wasn't a weak person to break that easy. She was built into a strong-willed woman and a better muslim at that.
She never spoke to him in the month they spend in the house. She spends her time with his parents who adore her and her sharp brain. She did take a month off from her work so she didn't have much to do besides the housework to help her in laws who actually care and nothing for him. She just stayed at a distance that he created.
******
"Ammi (mom), my works starts from tomorrow, I can join, right?" She asked softly looking at her mother-in-law
Her mother in law smiled looking at her father in law nodding her head assuring her she had their full support.
"Thank you". She smiled gratefully
*****
She saw her husband entering the house and it was already dinner time. His mother did tell her that he never came this late but now he started coming late which clench her heart a little.
"Asslam O Alaikum". He said sitting on the sofa sighing
"Beta (son), why are you coming so late from work these days?" His mother asked worriedly
"Nothing to stress about I have a new project which needs my attention". He replied smiling
Your wife needs attention too.
Her thoughts said but she didn't voice them out loud.
"I will prepare dinner. Would you like tea before?" She asked and he just shakes his head
She nodded dejected walking towards the kitchen preparing their dinner. She didn't care enough to actually do something for him. She just acted like he do whenever his parents were around. Once she was done she asked everyone and place food for everyone then sit beside her husband.
They were done for the day and she was looking down at the book she held dear to herself. These book had managed to keep her sane throughout her life as people pushed her to the edge. Her dreams, motivation and strength brought her where she was.
She was no ordinary 26 years old woman she was the best surgeon in the whole country and was named number one recently. Of course, she never took pride in the worldly honour and thanked her lord to have her saves people lives.
She walked towards his room wanting to speak to her husband about her work she wasn't sure if she should but then she was sure that was the right thing to do.
"I wanted to talk". She said softly entering the study he spends his nights at
He didn't even look at her or paid her any attention but she walked near him timidly.

"Actually I took a month off from work and tomorrow I will be joining I wanted to inform you".
The man was one beautiful creature she had seen. She was blessed with a beautiful face man as her husband she wished his heart was to now she prays Allah to change his heart for her.
"Do my mother know?" He asked causing her to suck a deep breath at how deep his voice is and he was talking to her
She nodded.
"Then I don't have a problem. How will you go?". He asked looking at his files
Problem? When did she ever asked if he has a problem? Even if he did, she would have went to work.
She could swear her heart was about to come out of her chest and her throat went dry.
"I have my own car?" It came out more of a question because she didn't expected him to ask anything more
"Ok then". He said confirming the end of the conversation
Well, she wasn't expecting any words from him but this was a little too much. She walked or ran away quickly placing a hand on her heart which was beating loudly.
What is wrong with you, Anaya?"
*****
The next month went by pretty fast with her lined surgeries she always forgets the world around. Saving lives was always a pleasant experience.
"We have a party to attend tomorrow". She heard him say as she was preparing to sleep
This was the first time he was in this room at this time and her skin started forming goosebumps.
"Ok. At what time?"
"7".
She rolls her eyes when he was out of the room. Only if she thought of shutting that door in his face. She missed her chance.
******
The next day she worked hard to cover her shift to reach home. Once she was home she wasn't sure what to expect from this party so she had no idea as to what to wear. She chooses a long black frock which had a little golden in it and wrapped a hijab around her head. She would rather go in something that looks good instead of embarrassing herself. The irony was even her husband hadn't seen her hair, yet.
As she was placing the bangle in her hand she found someone intense eyes boring into her back and the way her body reacted she knew who it was and she was nervous to look back. But then she looked at the mirror to check her hijab (scarf) only to found his dark black eyes looking at her which made her heart flutter.
"S-Should we leave?"
He blinked nodding walking away. They soon reached the party which looked far from where she will like to be. She momentarily wondered what they were doing here when she remembered that her husband was a business tycoon.
It's been two months of his marriage which he had rejected but his mother was adamant to have him married. He might be a good business and a son, he wasn't ready for marriage this soon. Not when he already had his fair share of experience. He didn't like her to say at least why does she had to come in his life? Maybe he was being immature but he already did wrong to her.
They walked inside when he felt her coming closer to him. He had to say that her scent was really appealing for some odd reasons. It drives him insane and now that she was moving closer to him he cannot even pull back. He did though he wouldn't want her to be free with him. So he walked at the distance and he saw how she looked hurt which had him step back and closer to her. He has no idea why he did that.

He introduced her to some of the people around and he could see how good she was at socializing not many people could fit into many people she was doing it effortlessly. He had noticed that in these past two months she was very humble to his parents. She ignores him the same way he did. His parents were his weakness and he saw how happy they were to have her in the house. Not many thoughts to if he was though.
"Zain, how are you?" A man said and Zain turned to him already not liking his presence
"Sahil, I am good".
He saw Sahil eyes darting to her who was busy talking to a woman beside her not even paying attention to anyone else. She smiled and he could swear that smile had his heart skip a beat.
"Wouldn't you introduce me to this amazing woman?" Sahil said his eyes still on her
He fisted his hand to not punch him away from them. But he saw how she turned to Sahil probably because his dirty eyes were a boring hole in her. He always saw how her eyes meet his and she looked away clearly disgusted which had his smirk.
Same wife, same.
His eyes widen at his own words. Wait? Wife?
"This is my beautiful wife, Anaya. And this is Sahil". He kept the introduction short not wanting to have this man near them
But Sahil had another plan his eyes changed as Zain introduced her as his wife and Zain saw that too. Instinctively, his arms wrapped around her small waist pulling her closer to him which he wasn't doing at first but now seems like his inner self had taken over him. Or his heart had taken over his mind.
"If you will excuse me. My wife and I have better things to do". Zain said stern
"Oh, sure". Sahil said walking away
Once he was gone Anaya breath a sigh in relief. The man creeps her the most over all the man that was here.
"So Anaya what do you do or are you just a housewife?" A dark brown hair woman said smirking
Obviously, her main motto was to have everyone around her feel less of themselves and she wasn't any of that person.
"I don't remember your name so excuse me when I don't say it. But I don't see how being a housewife is a bad thing if I were to choose I would go with taking care of the people I truly love and care for instead of choosing the world". She said smiling softly, "And to answer your question no I am not a housewife I work at International Medical centre (number one hospital in the country)".
She heard a collective gasp from around the people and she saw her own husband stiffen beside her as he removed his arms from around her. She missed his touch immediately but composed herself.
"That is so amazing, Anaya, what are you working there as?" The woman (Zara) who she comes to like asked
She smiled at her, "I am a head surgeon".
If she thought people were shocked before then she was wrong because now they were even more shocked and for some reason a circle formed around her as she was the centre of it.
"She is lying there is no way someone who looks like her would be working at that place". The same woman screeched jealousy lacing her tone
Anaya smiled cheekily at her words, "Google me then".
Her words might be humble or she might remain calm even after being insulted but she never allows anyone to bring her down. Not now, not ever.
The woman who was glaring at her like she will kill her took her phone out so does everyone else typing her name and she was the number one person to appear as soon as her name displayed with the honour she had in her life.
"Woah! This truly is you". Zara asked excitedly
She chuckles nodding, "Yeah, that is me".
She hated how every single detail of her life was already on the tabloid except for her personal life (thankfully). But some of her hard training she wanted to keep it to herself. Like when she received an award of honour from the army after working with them for a long time in a battlefield.
"You actually stayed in a battlefield?" Someone asked looking down at their phone and then at her
She sighs it wasn't nice to know or see people dying in front of her but she had to take that step to become something amazing in her life.
"Yes". She said nodding
Then on everyone had a different behaviour with her she saw the woman who tried to insult her walking away and other just keep talking to her. She found her husband unusually silent as he had his eyes trained on her which were causing her body to heat up.
They walked towards the drinking area a little to the side ordering a regular cola.
"Bhabhi (sister-in-law)". She heard the cheerful voice of her husband best-friend scream catching the attention of few people around
"Irfan, how are you?"
Her husband beside her groaned as he heard his best friend voice causing her to giggle but she stopped when she saw his expressions.
"You remember me?" Irfan said happily his eyes beaming
She nodded, "Yes, you were an interesting personality that was hard to forget".
Zain stiffened at her words not liking how she was associating with his friend. Throughout he had seen her keeping minimum talks to men which he admired but now he had to stop himself to not be rude to his own friend.
"Of course, I am amazing like that and you would remember with that great brain of yours which reminds me that was the best show back there. I swear these parties are so boring I think I found my kind of person now". Irfan said in one breath
"You don't have problems speaking that much?" She asked genuinely
She had never seen someone talk so fast in a minute.
Irfan chuckle at her innocence he could clearly see, "I was born like that although I must say that this speciality is someone a bother with some people but I choose to ignore them. I am the best and I know it".
She chuckle, "Yeah, I think you need a doctor to tone down that attitude".
"Oh, come on, you love it". Irfan said smiling cheekily
Irfan was aware of the man behind the woman who was his friend burning in anger. Well, he liked him burning he deserves that after hurting his own wife.
"Excuse me, I will be back". Anaya said excusing herself to the restroom
"Why were you being so friendly with her?" The words escape as soon as she leaves without him having any control
"Cut the crap, Zain, what did you do?". Irfan said seriously
"What do you mean?".
"I know you screwed it but I want to know exactly how deep so start talking".
Zain sighed explaining the past two months and he could see his friend giving him the glare from the start.
"You, my friend, is the biggest asshole alive. She is the most beautiful, innocent, humble and intelligent girl to walk on earth and to be your wife. You should be honoured and all you did was downgrade her and stripped her from her right as your wife and a woman". Irfan said angrily, "It's not too late to start new, Zain, I know you are stuck in past but that doesn't give you the right to hurt such an amazing person. She had nothing to do with that and I know you know that deep down. Don't let her go".
Zain didn't speak having his own deep thoughts when Irfan exclaimed that his bhabhi (sister in law) was gone for quite some time now. He wasn't sure but he felt restless sitting there so he started walking on it's own to who knows where. That was until he saw the familiar scarf laying on the ground that his whole body tensed. He immediately called Irfan and then on he was a man on a mission. Mission to find her which wasn't hard when he heard screaming coming from the corner and both he and his friend bolted at the speed on light, Zain a little faster.
The scene that he saw had his blood run cold and the anger that course through his blood was like hot boiling water. He found his wife in an uncompromising position with Sahil.
He didn't even stop for second and leapt at Sahil punching him squarely as he falls on the ground. But he wasn't done yet, no, he had major damages to be done and he did. He punched after punched until the man wasn't even fighting back and was unconscious. But he stopped at nothing, not when Irfan asked him, not when some people hold him, nothing. Until he heard his own wife calling him for the first time.
"Zain, please, please". She said desperately
Her cries of pain had his every movement stop and his heart clench in pure agony at the thought that he had indeed failed to protect her.
"How dare he touched, my wife?" He growled angrily
"Zain, please, I need you". She said even more desperate
That was when his senses came back and he looked back at her pain stuck face covered in blood. But what had his breathing stopped was that her scarf was not on her head it was in his hand and though she had covered herself with her dress dupatta (scarf) some of her hair could be seen.
His heart flutter.
He didn't like other men looking at her especially not now. He sprinted towards her removing the scarf from his arm placing it around her head securely and she let him wincing when he touched a side which made him growl angrily.
He removed his jacket placing it on her covering her completely when Irfan informed that his car was at the door behind and that he will handle everything here. Zain would not let Sahil walk free again. He will pay to even think of doing what he was thinking.
He wrapped his arms protectively around her shaking body trying to bring her comfort as they walked to the car. He asked his driver to drive home and he didn't even let go of his hold on her too afraid of his fears.
Her cries never decreased and it pained his heart to the extent he never thought it would. It made him realised that she actually needed him and he had done nothing but wrong. He had failed as a husband.
They reached home and he was happy that his parents had slept. He made her sit on the couch running to the kitchen to bring water for her. He walked back and saw her looking at her hands wiping her tears away.
"Here". He said softly bending on his knees in front of her shaking figure
She didn't move her hand to hold the glass so he forwards the glass to her beautiful lips he often admired and once she was done he placed the glass on the side.
"Why?" That was her very first words after they had left the scene
He wasn't sure what she was asking but he didn't want to interrupt her or say something which he regrets like always.
He saw more tears falling down her creamy cheeks, "Why do they always look at me for my body? Why can't they respect me as a woman? Why is that everywhere I go I don't belong there? Where do I belong? Why does everyone hate me when I have been nothing but nice?"
As her words stopped she broke down completely in front of him. He knew she was a strong woman he knows but now he was looking at the woman who carried the pain that actually made her strong or perhaps she had no other option than being strong.
"I was an orphan whose parents didn't want a girl and throw her away. The people I lived with always treated me badly and they used to say if I don't be a good girl no one will take me and I will never have parents. I came to know about my real parents when I was 8 and I went to them after many difficulties. You know what I saw they were smiling with their son and when I told them who I am they said 'you are just trash, you don't belong here'. I never looked back at them and started my work to be something better and everyone around me always treated me with hate. I met an elderly woman who taught me everything good and prepared me for the world. But then I went to that battle that everyone praised but I was almost raped there I have always seen men looking at me even when I dress modestly they still do no matter how much I cover. I was luckily saved by the army officer. I completed my work after being hated, degraded and called name and today h-he a-again-". She said but she couldn't even breathe anymore
Zain who was too shocked with her words couldn't tell what he feels. Anger and guilt were the most prominent in his heart. Anger towards each person who hurt her even him and guilt all to himself. He saw how she was having an attack and he didn't know what he should do so he did what his heart said. He wrapped his arms around her waist placing her head on his chest allowing his hold to provide and explain what he can't in words.
"You are safe now, Anaya, I promise never ever will you be subjected to any such act. I am sorry for everything and that I failed. I am so sorry". Zain said begging," I promise I will be a better husband and a better everything to you. Please, just one chance".
