She landed to a place that she hated with a passion.
Yes, she arrived where she was asked for.
She holds her luggage watching how the people around her eyed her. Obviously with her fashion sense and look she was a foreigner.
"Ma'am, I can take you where you want to go". A taxi driver said and all other fights him to be her driver
The man who asked her his eyes remains painfully on her body which wasn't something she appreciated.
"Instead of taking me anywhere how about keeping your eyes to yourself?". She said angrily walking past him holding her luggage
"I will take you". Another said joining her speed walk
Every other driver crowded her too.
"How much?". She asked since she hasn't yet changed her currency
"3000". The driver said
Fraud.
She hated these people because of reasons.
They are absolutely great at robbing people not just financially in every sense.
She looks around to find a decent driver in everyone who is literally pushing themselves on her until her eyes fell on an old man cleaning his almost broken taxi.
She takes steps towards him hurriedly wanting to escape this place.
"Baba (uncle)". She said softly
The old man turns around to her plea looking at her.
"Jee beta (yes, daughter)?". He asked warmly
"Can you take me somewhere?". She asked anxiously
The old man looks behind her and she finds his face turning into anger and disgust.
"Stop looking at her". He yelled angrily making everyone scramble then turn to her, "Chalo, beta (come, daughter)".
She immediately sits inside his taxi which was even more worse. His taxi starts after some time in which the other taxi driver tries to convince her to take another taxi.
The taxi takes the road and she passes the address to him.
"Beta (daughter), I am sorry about those men". He said after a long time
"Why are you sorry?". She asked confused
"I should be I am a man myself. I think we have done a poor job at raising men in our society that they have forgotten how to respect a woman thinking it's their right to gawk at her like a piece of meat". He said and she can feel the truth and sadness behind his words, "We have failed".
"It's not your fault, Baba (uncle). I think the woman of this society failed to raise them". She replied looking out to the men around
"We have made those women fail". He said sadly, "I have failed".
"What do you mean?". She asked
"I never allowed my wife the privilege to teach my sons anything. I treated her like society expected me to;thrash. I never thought that she was someone who deserved respect and honour instead I thought of her as an object, there to please me. I treated her like no woman should be treated and my son learned the same things. I see them using woman every day and looking down at them. Because once I looked down at their mother". He explained, "It was all our fault".
She remains quiet.
"How much do you think buying a taxi cost?". She asked not wanting to comment on his words
"Approximately 20,000 why?". He asked
"Just because". She said, "What happened to your wife?".
"She died". He cried, "She died leaving me behind to regret. My sons kicked me out of the house and I have been living in this taxi since. I had worked to provide for them but they didn't even stop to think about my age and health throwing me out of their lives. It was all my own deeds. This is my punishment".

"How long have you been like this?". She asked
"13 years. I wish for death but it seems upset from me". He said wiping his old teary eyes, "I shouldn't have ruined your mood. I am sorry. You seem like someone who has dealt with life already".
"What?". She asked confused
"Your eyes; they look like someone who has gone through war watching the worse of life already". He commented, "That is why it was so easy for me to speak. I never told anyone about this before".
"How come you didn't look at my fancy clothes and say I am someone popular?". She asked
"Clothes doesn't define a person and popularity doesn't make a person. These things are temporary. I had everything once look at where I am now". He chuckles at the end, "We tend to think these temporary will stay forever. They don't. Don't give in to this temptation".
"Can I ask your number?. Can we stay in touch?". She asked once the car stops in front of her destination
"Jee (yes)". He said passing her his old broken phone to punch her number and give her a miss call
"Thank you, baba (uncle)". She said handing him a full roll of money she has converted
He looks at her shocked refusing but she insisted, "I think it's time for your punishment to end".
"Beta(daughter), stay blessed". He cried patting her head
"Thank you". She said taking her bag nodding at him as he leaves
Her eyes went blank. Her face went void of any emotions looking at the decoration around the house. She enters inside after talking to the guard who already knew her.
She stands at the door of the villa remembering every single thing.
The past. The pain. The longing.
Everything comes crushing at her making her chest tighten.
"Caria?". She heard someone say, "COME DOWN, SHE IS HERE".
She heard the loud steps from around the house as the number of people stood in front of her.
So familiar but not at the same time.
Their pretty faces are just a mask for their ugly souls.
"Caria". She heard her voice as she parts the people making her way to stand in front of her
She looks at her eyes that are a light shade of brown as she remembers. Just that this time she is much older and her hair much longer.
She has grown.
"Samia". Caria said nonchalantly
She was pulled in a hug. She wasn't expecting it causing her to stiffen at the contact and not having being hugged in a long time it seems weird.
All of it.
"I missed you so much". Samia cried, "You have grown so much".
She pushes her lightly away from her bringing her breathing back to normal.
"Yes". She replied shortly
"Oh, meri bachi (oh, my child)". She heard another older woman say
Her Mami (Mumtaz).
Just as the woman tries to pull her in a hug she immediately steps back.
"Don't". She said stern
"Arey, beta, it's been so long. I missed you". Mumtaz said
"I am sure". She replied looking at Samia, "Where do I stay?".
"Obviously we will give you the best room". Mumtaz said making her lose her patience faster
"I never asked you". She snapped looking at the woman
"Come on". Samia said taking her hand
She didn't even pay any mind to people around following Samia inside taking her bag with her.
She knows this house like the back of her hand.
She knows it too well.
Samia stops in front of one of the best room and she knows it.

This is all fake.
"No, I am not staying here". She said shortly
"Caria, please". Samia said as her eyes filled with tears again
"I said I won't". She said angrily taking her bag to where she wanted to
She turns a few turns reaching the room.
Servant room.
She remembers the room too well as the fresh memory. She stands in front of it looking at it for the longest time. She slowly opens the door hearing the same creaking sound that used to scare her before and even today it had an effect on her as she looks around for any possible incoming.
She didn't.
The only one she finds is Samia whose face is filled with tears and her eyes with sadness. Her mouth with words she didn't have the courage to say.
She shakes her head walking inside not wanting to do this.
She close to the door standing in the middle of the same mess. This was less of the servant room and more of storage since all the unused item stayed here.
Just like now.
With dust and dirt.
They all still stayed here.
The same old furniture was her only partner.
Same old.
She turns to looks at under the table who was broken sitting in the corner to find her pillow and blanket still there.
She walks closer to it bending down looking at the small tight place she used to cry in.
"You are still here, huh?". She said chuckling dryly
She leans in the table side looking at everything she used to live with. Everything seems to remind her of the specific moment she had cried for before.
She had cried so much for things that don't even matter.
Why is that we always thought and cry for things that seem so useless later?. Why can't we just not cry, think and let it he then?.
Why?.
She throws the small object sitting beside her on the ground making a loud sound.
That sound wasn't from the object it was her mute scream.
The screams she had always hidden within her.
The screams she cannot scream no matter what.
No matter what.
She laid in that tight place curling herself. She just stayed there until she finds her going back to the darkness that's her only comfort for now.
She gasps opening her eyes when she saw the memories she never wanted to remember. She looks around to find no light and that had always been the case. The moment the sun goes down the darkness surrounds the room.
She steadies herself before she decided she needs to freshen up and cannot stay hidden like before anymore.
She didn't come this far to hide. She came to show that she was worth it.
She walks through the villa locating Samia room knocking on it. The door opens after a while and she finds her.
"I need to shower". She said blankly
"Please, come in". Samia said smiling
She nodded entering inside heading to the bathroom not wanting to say or do anything. After a long relaxing bath, she walks outside to find Samia sleeping peacefully on her king-sized bed.
She chuckles darkly.
She was a princess, alright.
Her room was one of the best room that had everything in it. Every furniture was modern and well made. The smell was a fresh flower that lays in her room at all time and changed by a maid daily like every other thing.
She shakes her head heading outside turning to walk to her place.
"Beta (daughter)". She heard her other Mami - Noor says softly
She didn't stop at her words taking her steps forward.
"Come eat something". Noor said again
She rolls her eyes still taking steps forward knowing this is an act.
"Caria". She heard Samia hurried voice, "I am sorry I slept. Come on, we should go and eat. Everyone is so excited to meet you".
She looks at Samia who is blocking her view remembering she isn't here to hide she shrugs giving in. She was wearing her sweatpants grey with a crop top.
She walks downstairs into the big hall entering inside with Samia making everyone halt their talks.
The main people that exist were the two elder - her nana and Nani. The one mamo who is husband of Mumtaz and then it's her other Mami- Noor. And their kids.
This is going to be a long night. She thoughts
"Come, come, beta, sit with me". Her mami - Mumtaz said smiling at her
She rolls her eyes at her words sitting at the corner of the seat as everyone sits far from her.
"This is my place". She stated making them wince
That was her place in the past.
"We prepared all these for you". Noor said
She turns her eyes to look at the most amazing dishes in front of her.
The food she never had the luxury to ever eat before.
"No, this is not my food". She said plainly, "Where is my bread and water?".
"Beta (daughter), eat from these". Her Nani said
She smiles sarcastically, "Didn't you say it wasn't for me before?. If I remember correctly and I quote your words, 'This is not the food someone like her deserve. Someone who is feeding off other people shouldn't have anything other than bread and water and that is also a debt on her'. Did I miss a word?".
She finds her wincing at her words and the hurt clears on her face.
"Where is it?. Or should I just leave?". She demanded, "Oh, right, I am not the one who should be served. How did I forget the most important rule?".
She stands from her seat heading towards the kitchen watching how the eldest servant looks at her in guilt as she locates the bread for herself.
She came back sitting down, "Please, don't stop on your feast on my account. I have lived on this bread in my crucial years now is nothing".
She had.
That had caused her some serious health issues.
Her immune system is weakest.
She finds them resuming their feast enjoying it like they always have.
How is that they can be happy after doing so much to her?.
Just how?.
"What is she doing here?". She heard the voice she never wished to listen
She turns to the woman of her every pain. The reason the pain begins in her life.
She ignores her.
She plays with the piece of bread on her plate.
"I called her for my wedding". Samia said nervously
Looks like she hasn't told her. She thoughts.
"Why are you here?. How can you come here?". She asked Caria
Caria glares at the woman, "The better question would be how are you still talking to me?".
"Why shouldn't I be talking to you?. You are my-". The woman started
She throws the plate her bread was on the ground making everyone gasp, "I wouldn't complete that sentence if I were you".
"How dare you speak to you mother that way?". The woman shouted
Caria glares harden as she steps closer to her, "You are no mother of mine".
With that, she takes her step out of the hall cursing the people until she bumps into someone. She steps back rubbing her head feeling like deja vu.
"Sorry". She heard a manly voice say that seems oddly familiar
She raises her head looking at the figure that stands in front of her as the next words leave her mouth, "oh, Merde (fuck)".
