We now sat in silence. I even started counting the number of tiles in the bathroom. Nothing helped. This was pure torture.

"What?" Dylan asked

"We didn't call anybody!"

"They're all probably going crazy!"

There was a knock on the door followed by the door opening. Kai hesitantly poked his head in.

"Where have you been?" Dylan asked.

"In the basement breaking things." Kai gave us a sheepish smile.

"Did it help?" I asked

"Not as much as I would have hoped."

"Vanessa's mom is going to have your ass if you don't clean up your mess." Dylan let out a strained laugh.

Kai waved a dismissive hand. "Magic took care of that. Actually, I came up here to tell you that I was getting ready to call the others, they're probably all panicking."

"Yeah, I just thought about it," I said resting my head on the wall.

Kai whipped out his phone and walked away. Shortly after that, we heard Vanessa's scream.
