《Written in Bones [ Jurassic World]》Scientific Concerns

A stegosaurus eyed Lily and Simon who were standing behind a field worker by a river.
"I can't believe it!" Lily squealed quietly to herself. "It's a stegosaurus. An actual stegosaurus."
"Is that your favourite?" the worker asked her.
"They're all my favourites." she told the man. "I haven't met a dinosaur I didn't like."
Simon followed the river down.
"Our visitors can rent kayak and canoes and travel down the river getting an up close view of our dinosaurs at the river. "
"Do you think that's safe?" Lily asked.
"Our stegosaurus's do not bother with the tourists." the worker told her.
"That's not the point, what if people get in the middle of a dinosaur dispute. Stegosaurus's have been known to fight over territory especially when it comes to nesting grounds."
"You will not find nesting grounds here Ms. Goodwin. We don't allow it."
"How can you manage to control something that even the first park was unable to do?" she questioned.
"No males are able to leave the hatchery-"
"Not to sound cliche' but do you not remember the famous words of Ian Malcolm, life finds a way."
"And we cover our grounds daily Ms. Goodwin, all eggs are removed."
Lily frowned. "You ...get rid of the nests?" she asked bewildered.
"Indeed we do. We control the population Ms. Goodwin, our dinosaurs our tagged and all accounted for."
"But you're messing with nature removing a mother's nest. "
"They seem to get over it pretty quickly." the worker said.
"Oh is that something you discuss with the dinosaurs in therapy?" Lily asked slightly annoyed.
Simon grimaced slightly.
"How about we move on, there is still a lot to see."
From the brief visit in the carnivore territory and the Gallimimus Valley, Lily found herself hungry. Simon either read her mind or heard her stomach as they made their way back into the main centre.

"So what do you think so far?" he asked her.
"The park is impressive Mr. Masrani. I never thought I would see a dinosaur standing before me unless they were made of clay."
"Well, I'm glad you're enjoying it. There's still the lab and hatchery that you need to see. I think that will complete your day."
Simon swiped his card entering the lab with Lily behind him. Lily examined all the equipment a few people in lab coats moving around, computer screens showing a whole bunch of DNA sequencing.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Masrani." a man walked towards them.
"Ah, Henry, how are you?"
"I'm fine. Yourself?"
"Pretty good. Who's this with you?"
"Henry, this is Dr. Lily Goodwin, Lily this is Dr. Henry Wu."
"Nice to meet you Dr. Wu. I've read some of your work from InGen." Lily said extending her hand.
"Likewise Dr. Goodwin, we've heard a lot about you from Masrani here."
"Don't worry, only good things." Masrani smiled.
"Oh yes, all good things. We used a lot of your work when it came to determining which dinosaurs we would select, especially for our carnivore territory. Like the Baryonyx." Dr. Wu told her.
"Really?"
"Yes, your research on their fishing habits definitely made us want a couple." Simon agreed.
"Goodness, I'm flattered." she said.
"Well, Masrani's been trying to get you here for awhile." Dr. Wu told her.
"Really?"
Simon nodded. "It was difficult to track you down for awhile, you kept switching dig sites."
"Not on purpose." she admitted. "The funding was cut for most of them."
"The important thing is, we got you here now." Simon said. "Do you want to show her around Dr. Wu?"

"I'd be delighted."
A man walked in and whispered to Masrani. "Right, I completely forgot about that. Lily, I must go attend some business matters. But rest assure you are in good hands. I will have Ms. Dearing show you to your new home after you finish the tour."
"Thank you." Lily told him.
"I've read some of your work," Lily said to Dr. Wu as he showed her around. "The way you fill in the DNA sequencing with other animals like the common reed frog."
He smiled. "And?"
"I'm just curious and don't take this the wrong way, but after the failure of the first park, why did you continue doing this work?"
"We learn from our mistakes don't we?" he said.
"Yes I suppose we do."
"Well, I learned from my mistakes but it wasn't a mistake it opened up a door for me. I was able to learn about how these dinosaurs could adpat and be so modable in our hands. They could change their sex, I had to think, what else could we change?"
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"A female could develop the ability to have male organs to have the ability to breed due to it's DNA sequence. I imagined, we could do so much more here in the lab. Perhaps we could have a carnivore with a herbivore temperament."
Lily swallowed. "You mean like a hybrid?"
"Exactly."
"It seems rather far fetch though, a carnivore is meant to consume meat, with an herbivore temperament it would lack the necessary abilities to be a stealth hunter, unless you made them all scavengers."
"If you think about Ms. Goodwin, all these dinosaurs are in a sense a hybrid, we have included other animals in their genetic code. There's no harm in adjusting a characteristic."
Lily didn't agree but she didn't want to argue either.
"Would you like to see the hatchery?" he offered.
"Sure."
Lily was surrounded by nests and eggs. "Oh my goodness, look at all of these eggs!" she exclaimed.
"Impressive isn't it?" an older man said walking over to her with a slight limp.
"You must be Lily Goodwin." he said. "I'm Dr. Winston Falls."
"Nice to meet you Dr. Falls."
"Oh please, don't be so formal. Winston works just as well."
"Winston oversees all of our hatchings." Dr. Wu said. "I'll leave you here with him."
"You're just in time too." Winston said. "We got a hatching in the process."

Galactic Economics
Humanity enters the galaxy and makes First Contact, only to begin to realize that not everything is at it seems. It appears that the galactic alien community has forgotten to invent some rather important economic concepts that human civilization has taken for granted. This is a look at a hypothetical galactic scale barter economy, how that would work, or how as one of our main characters Sarah realizes... it doesn't. And as the galaxy falls apart at the seams, it's up to the best and brightest in humanity to put things back together. Story contains a lot about markets, logistics, development, and the best and worst of human history. Not so much Space Marines nuking aliens. If you enjoyed the trade negotiations and Senate politics in the Star Wars prequels, and wished that there was an entire standalone story consisting solely of those parts, this might be for you! Galactic Economics is also posted on reddit here.

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
