Jennifer was switching out her radio when she saw Owen and Lily walking into the Innovation Center together. She watched them with a smirk.

"What are you doing?"

She clutched her chest and rounded on Lowery heading back to the main building with a drink in hand.

"Jesus, you scared the shit out of me Lowery!"

"Sorry." he said holding his hands up in surrender.

"No, it's okay." she said.

"So what are you doing?"

"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm spying on Lily and Owen now get over here." she said pulling him aside.

They watched as Lily pointed at a few of the dinosaurs.

"And why are we spying on them again?" he asked quietly.

"Because....I think they're on a date."

"And to your left, we have a dinosaur and to your right, we have another dinosaur. And if you look behind me, guess what you'll see?" Lily said pointing behind her.

"A dinosaur?"

"A dinosaur! Good job!" she said patting his head lightly.

"Alright, cut the crap Goodwin. I want a real tour."

"But why?" she whined. "You know enough about these dinosaurs." she said.

"Because I like the way you talk about these dinosaurs. Now let's go before I file a complaint against you."

"Fine," she rolled her eyes. "This dinosaur right here is called the Edmontosaurus. It's name meaning Edmonton Lizard. It belongs in the genus of hadrosaurids."

"What's a hydrosaurus?" a little boy asked pulling on his father's hand from where they were standing close by.

"It means duck-billed dinosaur. And these guys are one of the largest of the hadrosaurids. When they are full grown, they'll be about 12 metres long and-"

"Meters!?" the little boy glanced from the dinosaur model at her confused.

"Umm..."

"About 40 feet long." Owen stepped in.

"Oh, well why didn't you just say that Miss?"

After leaving the Innovation center they headed to the valley.

"Watch your step." she called to him as they walked through the fields.

"Oh please, I'm not afraid of the vegetarians out here, I work with carnivores everyday." he told her.

"I wouldn't write off the herbivores just yet," she told him, "given the circumstances, they are fully capable of giving a proper ass whooping. Besides, I wasn't talking about the dinosaurs, I was talking about their droppings." She grinned looking down.

He peered down quickly to his feet to see his foot right in a pile of dinosaur dung.

"While you can't miss droppings of a triceratops, the microceratus are a different story." she giggled.

"Mother-"

After Owen rinsed off his boot in the river that sat by the river bed watching a few younger stegosaurus' cool off in the water.

"Despite some of the stupid protocols here, this place is amazing. At least, all the animals are."

"Did you ever think when you were a kid that you would be working with them?" he asked her.

"No of course not. I figured I'd be dealing with bones for the rest of my life."

"Did you like that? The dig sites and all?"

"It's tough work, being out in the sun all day..."

"That's how you got those incredible tan lines."

"Shut up!" she laughed. "But yes, that's how I got them. Worth it though to find some of those bones it was... it's just something you can't forget."

"What was the first dig you went on?"

"Wow the first dig." she said lying back and propping herself up on her elbows. "I went to France when I was eighteen for my first dig. I volunteered, it was my birthday gift from my father. I saved up through summer jobs and he helped me with the rest. We ended up uncovering a Telmatosaurus there. I cried a bit."

"A tomatosaurus?" he grinned.

"Haha, Telmatosaurus." she said. "It's another hadrosaur, you remember what that means right? From earlier in our tour."

"Duck-billed." he smiled proudly. "See, I listen when you talk Goodwin."

"Apparently." she said. "Oh look." she said as one of the smaller stegosaurus neared them to munch on some ferns. It glanced up at them watching them carefully before uprooting the plant. The larger adults watched.

"I don't think they want us here." Owen whispered to her.

"They're just watching over the youngest. Knowing some of their nesting habits and how they watched over their young, this park threatens that maternal instinct they have tremendously. They remove their nests, it's only natural for them to be over protected of the younger ones of the herd. I guess it would be similar to elephants, everyone watches over the young."

"Well, how about we don't mess with the herd." he said as they crawled down the river.

"So you got your Ph.D in paleontology obviously."

She nodded. " I was twenty three when I recieved it."

"Holy shit, you're a nerd!" he laughed.

She pushed him playfully almost in to the river. "Schooling was my escape from my mother. She didn't visit me or discuss anything about it. Hell, she didn't even come to the ceremony to watch me get the degree."

Owen frowned. "What?"

"My mum hates dinosaurs and hates anything to do with them."

"But why? She should be insanely proud...most people don't get their Ph.D's until their thirties, even forties."

"My mum is set in her ways. If it's not her way, it's wrong. She blames my father for most of it. She told him he should have never brought Steggy home. She went extremely crazed after my accident."

"Accident? What accident?"

"Oh it was nothing." she said waving her hand dismissing the thought.

"No, tell me."

She sighed. "It was one of my earlier dig site experiences. We were in Madagascar digging in a cave that used to be a river way back when. I'm not sure what entirely happened but part of cave collapsed where I and a few workers were. We were trapped for only an hour or so as they dug out but I had a broken wrists. You would think I broke my spine the way my mother reacted."

"Well, I mean that's a pretty scary experience, a cave collapse.. "

"Like I said, it didn't take long to get out. It wasn't that serious."

"I think deep down it shows that your mom cares."

"She has a hell of a way of showing it."

"Maybe she just doesn't know how."

"I've been told that my entire life by my father. Your mum loves you, she just doesn't know how to show it. At this point, I don't really care, you can't please everyone." she said kicking a rock. He saw the slight frown on her face.

She turned her head to say something but Owen was no longer at her side.

"Where did you- ARGH!" She screeched as she splashed with river water. She saw Owen grinning in the river.

"You swine!" she laughed before splashing him back.

"Hey, hey!" he said. "Watch the hair." he said smoothing it playfully. She splashed him directly in the face. He spat out the water.

"Okay, I was just playing, but now it's serious."

The stegosaurus herd watched as the two humans splashed around before the adults directed the younger ones away from the bizarre creatures.

Owen lost his footing on a slippery rock and fell back as Lily burst in laughter holding her stomach.

"Oh look, I discovered a new dinosaur! The River Grady." she said walking over to him.

"Very funny." he grumbled. "Now get over here and help me up, will ya?"

"Most certainly."

She waded through the water nearly falling herself a couple of times before reaching him and extended her hand. She saw the grin on his face as he took her hand and before she could pull away she found herself submerged.

She emerged laughing. "I should have seen that coming."

"You should have." he said he inched towards her in an alligator mode, only his eyes visible above the water.

"Stop it." she laughed splashing him but it didn't stop him as he closed it. He lifted his head up and started singing the theme song from Jaws.

"Dana...dana....dana danadanadana-" he launched out and tackled her back. When the two finally breached the surface, Lily pushed her hair back with her hands with Owen just moments from her.

"Is this how all your tours end, Miss Goodwin?" he asked with a playful look drawing her in by the waist.

"Only the private ones." she smiled before she found herself in a kiss with him. His calloused hands were rough as they grazed the sides of her face but it made her skin shiver in pleasure. He pulled away finally resting his forehead against hers.

She smiled before she heard it again. "Dana...Dana..."

Jennifer was sitting on the porch on her laptop when she saw the two heading towards the home, soaking wet.

"Did it rain on the island?" she asked as they neared. She looked up to the sky to see no trace of any clouds.

"Sure." they both said.
