《Dark Past: Abuse- Anakin & Ahsoka》Chapter 5: The Road to Recovery

3rd Person POV:
Ahsoka lies motionless in bed. The heart rate monitor makes slow, subtle beeps, which quaver every now and then. The healers are making sure she is okay before checking out the other patients.
A familiar figure pops his head inside the Halls of Healing. Anakin looks around before eyeing the Togruta in bed, the room casting dark shades around her bed. Guilt is clearly written across his face, and he quickly heads back out after knowing she was fine, at least for now.
Ahsoka opens one eye. "Plo?" She asks hopefully.
Anakin curses silently.
"Hey." He says, keeping his face straight, while silently cursing more.
Anakin POV:
"M-master Skywalker?" She stutters fearfully. "I'm s-s-so sorry! I really am!" She yanks her IV lines and one of her bacta patches start to peel, so I'm forced to set her back. As I walk in, some light filters in through another room, where another patient is having a checkup.
Her eyes flutter, and she fiddles with her fingers.
"I just wanted to say I am really sorry--
I shush her. "No, I'm sorry, Ahsoka. I didn't mean to go that far. Besides," I say, feeling more weighed down with guilt, "I did some digging and I found out that someone planted an electric shock buzzer beneath your droid. It... well.... I had it scanned for any fingerprints and it screams Kina all over. So you're all good."
Even in the dark, I can see the clear outline of a small smile.
"So we're all good, Skyguy?" She grins.
I huff. "Who said you could call me that? Don't get snippy, young one." I snort, before a brilliant plan gets in my head. "Snips."
She rolls her eyes. "Okay Skyguy, as long as I can call you that."

I smile.
Anakin POV:
It's been almost 10 rotations. I pop my head into the Healing Centre, and Ahsoka immediately brightens.
She's refreshing to talk to, really. She'll listen to my protests and make snippy comments here and there, but she agrees with me. I can see that the little Togruta is getting more comfortable being her impulsive self day by day.
However, today, I can sense something is wrong.
"Hey, Snips what's wrong?" I ask.
She doesn't roll her eyes at me saying Snips, so I know something is definitely wrong. She just stays silent, fiddling with her fingers. Another sign. She never fiddles, unless she is really scared or nervous.
"Ahsoka, what's wrong?" I ask again.
"Nothing..." She mumbles.
"Ahsoka..." I begin, slightly irritated.
"It's just I'm almost ready to be apprenticed." She blurts out. "But no master will take me, even though most of the teachers say I'm leagues ahead of my classmates."
I pause. My breath is hitched in my chest. I have an idea to take her as my Padawan. I must say that over these few rotations, I've gotten quite fond of Ahsoka. Frankly, taking her as my padawan would be an interesting job.
"Oh," I say nonchalantly. "I'm sure someone will take you as their padawan."
She seems pretty crestfallen, so I tell her about the time I pranked Mace Windu, by placing a bucket of ice water in his refresher, complete with a small string that would trigger it.
"I could hear his yelp from a mile away," I recounted fondly. Ahsoka giggles. "Oh please, Skyguy, can I help next time?" She gives me puppy eyes, so I nod hesitantly. "Can we please play a prank today? I'll be out of the Healing Centre soon and back to training, so I want to do it now." She pauses, letting out a snort of contempt for her classmates. I could hardly blame her. "Please?"
I nod, then tell her my plan.
