《With You (A Kamijirou Fanfic)》WITH YOU ON NEW YEAR'S

Denki waited patiently at the entrance of the Heights Alliance dormitories. He had made plans to carry out the hatsumode tradition with the Bakusquad earlier that day.
"Denki!" The boy turned to the direction of the voice and smiled when he saw the petite girl running towards him. "Sorry, did I make you wait long? Momo insisted on dressing me up."
"No, it's fine. In fact, you look great today. But it's not like you don't always look good...! You just look different than usual," he said, flushing a deep shade of crimson. He cleared his throat, changing the subject. "So, where's the others? I didn't see them since this morning."
Kyoka shoved her phone into his hand, with Line open. "You didn't read the messages? Bakugou said his mother wanted him to come home, Kirishima suddenly came down with a cold so Mina stayed back to take care of him and Sero had some things he had to do. It's just us two now."
Denki beamed, not looking one bit disappointed at all. "Perfect! I wanted to spend New Year's Eve alone with you anyway. Shall we go?" he asked, reaching out his hand, which Kyoka gladly took.
Reaching the stairs of the shrine, the two carefully made their way up, careful not to slip on the icy steps. They approached the shrine and carried out the hatsumode.
Kyoka shivered a little. Momo supposedly got too carried away by getting her to look great but all the while forgot about the weather conditions.
"You cold? They're handing out amazake at that stand over there. Wanna go get some?" Denki suggested. Kyoka uttered a quiet okay as they proceeded to the stand.Drinks in hand, they plowed through the thick crowd and past many food stalls.

Kyoka pulled Denki over. "Wanna get our fortunes while we're here? We have a few minutes before midnight."
"Sure."
~~~~~~
"...." Denki stared at his rolled up fortune, a little hesitant in opening it.
"Open it, Denks. Why so hesitant? It's not like these things are actually true. They're all just for fun," Kyoka stated bluntly as she unrolled hers. "Oh, will you look at that. I got a Good Luck this year. It's mostly towards education though."
The boy looked over at his girlfriend's fortune which was indeed for education. She always exceeded in her studies, with or without a fortune. A little encouraged, he opened up his fortune only to be disappointed by the black printed Bad Luck, also for education. Kyoka giggled a little, seeing this as nothing new.
"It's alright, Denki. Here, you can have mine. We'll swap," she offered, extending the fortune to him.
Denki was surprised but refused. "B-but, your studies...! Keep your fortune."
Kyoka just laughed harder, pressing the slip into his hands. "I don't believe in these things anyway. If you still feel insecure about this, we can go buy some charms for education."
"Alright!"
~~~~~~
It was almost the New Year. The couple were lounging at the balcony of Denki's dorm room waiting for the fireworks display. Denki was nervously glancing at his watch every now and then. Why? you might ask? There was a tradition (or rather a rumour) worldwide that states if you kiss someone you romantically love right at the start of New Year's Day, your love will be everlasting. As the trend loving person he is, Denki loves legends, stories and all these weird little cliche rituals that supposedly influences your love life. He didn't want to tell Kyoka about it though, because she just so happened to be the exact opposite of him when it comes to these sort of things. She didn't believe in these kind of routines and rumours, knowing that it's all total bogus. Most of the time, she eventually gave up and let Denki have his way whenever he was rambling over such things.

Ten seconds left. Denki wriggled closer to Kyoka.
Five seconds left. He held her chin and turned her face towards his.
Four seconds left. He pulled her closer to him.
Three.
Two.
One.
The gap between them closed as his lips collided against hers, moving rhythmically. She was a little flustered at first, but then slowly began to sink into the flow. When he finally pulled away and smiled at her, Kyoka was a mess, as red as Todoroki's left side.
"Happy New Year, Kyoka!"
She smiled as she quietly replied. "Let's have a good year together."
"You know I'll always have a good year when I'm with you, Kyoka," Denki laughed, pulling her in for another kiss.
