《With You (A Kamijirou Fanfic)》Chapter 20

It hasn't even been a couple of months since Denki and Kyoka have started dating. The thing about being a couple in a hero school like UA, word gets around a lot. All it took was some gossip loving telepathic quirk user to catch wind of the news and voila! almost the whole school knows. And because of this, Denki was being smothered by his overbearing or as Denki preferred, irritatingly chipper older cousin.
"So you two finally tied the knot, didn't ya?! I'm soooo happy for you!!" Keijirou gushed with a hint of sarcasm in his voice, as he gave Denki the All-Might-y noogie.
Denki rolled his eyes and tried to push his obnoxious cousin off, but failing miserably. "Geez, Keiji-nii....if you're that lonely, maybe you should start talking to more girls instead of goofing off with the guys at karaoke! I might as well think you're into guys," Denki huffed. "That would save me one less problem," he muttered under his breath.
Keijirou sighed and shook his head. "What was that you said....? You should really stop mumbling. Anyway, the Sports Festival is coming up..."
Denki rose an eyebrow. "Yeah, what about it? It'll be the same thing as usual, but with different events. Maybe we might have something like laser tag, but with quirks this year..."
"Let's have a bet. Whoever gets the most points will hang out with Kyoka-chan for the rest of the day."
The electric boy gritted his teeth and forced a smile. "How bold of you. Trying to hit on someone else's girlfriend."
Keijirou grinned. "Just wanted to show my future sister-in-law what good brother-in-law material I am!" he said with a cheeky glint in his eye. Denki suddenly didn't feel good. "Don't worry. It's only for a day."

Gripping tightly on the older boy's wrists, he declared, "How about the loser treats the winner to snacks."
Keijirou narrowed his eyes at him as if he were debating whether he should take up on that offer. "If I win, do I get imagawayaki?"
"Two imagawayaki. With a complementary ramune," Denki said, with a smirk as if he had just presented a high powered Pokémon card. He knew how much the boy loved his imagawayaki. It's like Todoroki with his soba.
Radiating pure joy, Keijirou quipped. "Now you're talking sense! So, if you win, I'll get you that Jolteon plush you've been eyeing the other day~"
Denki's face throbbed with irritation and embarrassment. "Come on, that was when I was like, ten? What am I? A kid?"
"Anyway, did you know there will be a dance after the festival this year? Are you planning on asking Kyoka-chan?"
Denki, now had a lot to think about.
~~~~~~
Later that day, Kyoka and Denki had a talk while sipping on some afternoon coffee. Denki fidgeted with his hoodie's drawstring contemplating if he should ask her or was the question too stupid. Because of the awkward silence and the amount of discomfort she sensed from her boyfriend, Kyoka was getting quite frustrated.
"C'mon, Denks. Spit it out. What do you want? You're uncomfortable with me being around, is that it?" she asked, sipping her drink. Denki realised his actions were making his the girl feel insecure.
The poor boy waved his hands in front of him. "N-no! That's not it...! I was just wondering if, um..." he stuttered. Why was this so hard? Taking a deep breath, he started, "Well, there's this dance that's going on on the night of the festival and...I was wondering, um, w-whether you'd go with me?"
Kyoka stared at the dense boy. She wondered what was the extent of his idiocy. "I'm your girlfriend, aren't I? Why wouldn't I go with you?" she laughed, shaking her head as Denki looked like he was going to burst into a bundle of teary joy. "H-hey! You're squeezing me too tight! I cand bweef-" she choked when the overjoyed boy threw his hands around her and nearly crushed her ribcage.
~~~~~~
(Denki's POV)
"Welcome folks, to UA's annual Sports Festival where we get to see the the amazing talent of UA!"
I looked up at the teacher that will be the commentator for the second years this year. She's one of the new teachers and one of the most admired pro heroes, Dragon Hero, Ryukyu.
"I'm Ryukyu, and I'll be your host for the second years' events! Representing the second years is Todoroki Shoto!"
It normally wouldn't be much of a surprise but I couldn't help but feel a little caught off guard. Supposedly Bakugou had gotten a lot more calmer after everything that has happened last year. The old Bakugou would never approve of letting people surpass him, but look at him now. He's just standing quietly with a bored look on his face... I nearly considered walking up to him and giving him a violent shaking, yelling in his face "HELLOOOOO?? IS THIS REALLY BAKUGOU AND NOT SOME RANDOM SCRUB????" But do I really wanna throw my life away like that? Not really. I still have a girlfriend to marry and make kids with-
My thoughts were immediately interrupted by a bunch of high pitched squealing caused by a couple...no, at least a thousand fangirls in the stands. Looks like Todoroki finally finished his little talk. At this moment, I realised how grateful I was that none of the girls had a similar quirk to Present Mic. We'd all be goners.
"And so, to start off the events, our first little game is....." Every student's eyes were glued to the ginormous screen. "LASER TAG!" Holy shit...am I a fortune teller or what?
Ryukyu cleared her throat to silence the cheering crowd. "Let me explain the game. The rules are simple, it's very like your usual old laser tag at your local arcade, but with a twist. You will be using your quirks to assist you." Bringing out a vest, she showed it off to the audience. "This is a quirk proof vest. It won't necessarily protect you from all quirks. You will be playing in teams. Your team will need at least one of each quirk type: emitter, transformation and mutation. The last six teams alive are the ones to advance to the next round! The emitters will be the ones acting as the laser guns. All you need to do is to light up your opponents' vests to eliminate them. Feel free to go all out and have fun!"
It didn't take long for us to form teams. I was grouped with Kirishima, Kyoka, Bakugou, Hiryu and a girl from class 2-C whose quirk can release focused energy absorbed from her surroundings.
The game took place in Ground Beta which is full of the ideal hiding places and bases. Bakugou smirked. "Heh, those fools won't see whats coming at them."
"Oh, and one more thing," Ryukyu added over the voiceover. "Any serious damage to your opponents and you'll be disqualified immediately."
Bakugou flinched, as if he sensed that the warning was directed to him. I suppose some things don't really change, do they? I thought contentedly.

A Spirit Vein's Guide to Immortality
TL;DR Synopsis: Man dies from falling banana, gets interrogated but answers vaguely, suffers consequences Actual synopsis: Spirit veins. Many consider them to be the pillar on which the world of cultivation is built. These things served as the foundation for the first few realms that would allow humanity to achieve its everlasting dream of immortality. However, in the present age, these pockets of condensed energy only exist to be under the foundations of massive organizations, fostering a new generation of fighters while passively radiating the energy they contain. Nevertheless, spirit veins are still an important element in the world of cultivation, albeit much less so. With that in mind, have you ever considered what it would be like for someone to turn into a spirit vein? No? Well, Arthur never thought about it either. Going through the usual reincarnation schtick (if one could consider it usual), Arthur was eventually brought into a place where a god asked him where he would like to be reborn. Unsurprisingly, Arthur told the god his ideal rebirth. However, soon enough, he would come to realize that he should have been more specific with it. Now being reborn as the smallest spirit vein, or if you could even consider him a spirit vein, Arthur wondered what he could do other than wait for time to consume him…and that’s where the system came in. With it, he would experience multiple stories of hardships, adventure, romance, and action…all underground. Unless…? Do keep in mind that English is not my first language, so I would like to apologize in advance if there are any grammatical errors, typos, miscalculations and so on. In fact, I'd highly appreciate it if you tell me those mistakes. Also, this story focuses quite a lot on the gradual progression of the MC at the beginning, but in the long run, upgrading sprees would probably be more common. Thanks for reading this small note!
