《One Night (Completed)》2. Aria

I was in my zone, listening to some old India Arie, and studying for a quiz I had in my next class. I suddenly felt a presence across from me I tried to ignore it but ended up looking up to catch eyes with Landon, Mr. I can make your bed rock; a nickname I'd heard some girls use referring to him. He was a beautiful man with just the perfect mix of hood and prep.
However, I wasn't interested in him. He was for everybody. I looked back down at my notes, not even acknowledging his presence.
I heard him chuckle, "damn," he started, "I couldn't even get a slight smile, a small hey?" I looked up, confused as to why he was even over here. He never talked to me a day in his life, but I didn't mean to come off rude so I gave a fake small smile, and went back to my notes.
He laughed, "Can I talk to you for a second?" I took my headphones out and put my pencil down and just looked at him, waiting for him to say whatever it was that he came over here to say. He had a small smile on his face, it was big enough to showcase his deep dimples, he reached his hand out to me, "I'm Landon."
I just looked at his hand with a slight smile, "I know who you are," I wanted him to get to the point.
He laughed, "can I get your name?" he licked his lips and looked me in my eyes.
"Aria" I replied dryly as I maintained eye contact. Now I'm not typically like this, I'm typically pretty friendly but I know what type of man he is, and I wasn't about to show the least bit of interest, I wasn't trying to give him the wrong idea. Unlike the majority of the girls walking around this cafe I was good on him.
He smiled, and then looked like he was thinking, pulling his eyebrows together, "did I do something to you?"
I looked at him, confused, this called for me to pull my eyebrows together, "huh?" I asked.
"I mean, you're being real short with me, real dry."
I laughed, "I just don't understand why you're right here, asking my name and all. Sorry, not trying to be rude."
This caused him to liven back up, "Well Aria, maybe I'm trying to get to know you."
I laughed and rolled my eyes, "trying and get to know me? Or trying to get to know a way into my pants?"
I'd heard all about Landon, this nigga got more pussy than Jesus had followers. He was a savage, a hit it and quit it nigga. Never heard of the nigga being in a relationship or even just dealing with one girl. I wasn't interested in whatever he was trying to sell me, and I know he was trying to sell me something. There had to be a motive behind this.
He laughed, "whoa, see man, you can't believe everything you hear."
This made me laugh, instead of letting him know about the plethora of girls I'd heard about crying over him or the girls who loved to openly share their sex experiences that they had with him, I just got to the point "Landon, I'm not interested. Nice meeting you though." I gave him a heartfelt smile, and picked my pencil back up and began to put my headphones back in.

"Wait, wait," he said with his hand reached out, trying to stop me before I put my other headphone in. I looked up at him, waiting for him to finish.
He looked at me, smile forming on his face, showing those perfect white teeth. "Hear me out."
I rolled my eyes with a small smile, "go ahead."
"I know this shit seems random as hell," because it is I thought. "but at least give me a chance to get to know you. A chance for you to truly talk to me before you shoot me down completely."
I leaned back and crossed my arms, "why?" I asked as I leaned forward. There was nothing that stood out about me today, why was he approaching me all of sudden?
He smiled, those dimples sinking in. He smiled a lot. "why not?" he said while licking his lips. He licked his lips often too. Were they dry? Focus Aria, I coached myself. "Huh?" I asked getting out of my head.
He laughed, "I said why not? Why not give me a chance to get to know you?"
I internally rolled my eyes. That shit probably worked when he was working his magic on other girls, but I wasn't falling for it. I smiled, licking my lips, pulling my bottom lip in. Using the same cues he used with me, I watched his eyes move from my eyes to my lips. "Thanks, but no thanks." I said as I put my headphones back in and started scanning over my notes again.
Now Landon was attractive, very attractive. Being so close to him I could see he had some freckles on his face. He was tall, looking about 6'4 with a low cut, hazel eyes, deep dimples, and he had tattoo's all over his body. He definitely had a reason for the girls around here to be acting like he was some local celebrity. But I knew better, I heard enough stories to know not to become one of the girls he fucked over. When you know better, you do better.
I looked up to see him still sitting there, a small smile playing on his face, shaking his head. I let out a small laugh, watching Kennedy walk up, wide eyed. I rolled my eyes, she got to the table and gushed at the sight of him, she thought this man was everything.
"Hey Landon!" she said with the biggest smile on her face, her voice calm the opposite of what she felt. I knew this girl. He looked at her as she was taking a seat beside him.
"Hey beautiful," he said with lust dancing all in his eyes as he looked her over.
Typical, I expected it from him. A minute ago he was trying to , and I quote, "get to know me", now he's looking at my friend like she's about to be his last supper. But I couldn't blame him, Kennedy was bad as hell, she was black and Hispanic with long curly hair, a nice curvy body, she had plump lips, and almond shaped eyes. Just a cute face in general. I went back to looking at my notes. He would have a way better chance with her than he ever would with me, so I was cool with it, by all means flirt it up. He began to get up, I looked up and saw that he was looking me over, he smiled and shook his head at me, and then said bye to Kennedy as he made his way away from our table.

As soon as he was out of ear shot Kennedy started asking a million questions, "Aria! Why was he at your table? What were you two talking about? Did he try and talk to you? Girl are y'all about to be fucking or do I still got a shot with him?" She didn't give me time to answer not one of her questions as she spit out one after the other. I laughed, when Kennedy was real into something or curious she often did this.
I got straight to the point. "He asked my name, said he wanted to get to know me. But I'm good on him. Girl did you see the way he was looking at you when you walked up to the table? That's all you boo." I had to hype her up, I wasn't interested, well I was trying to make myself believe that, and she was and with the way he was looking at her I know he'd have no problem hopping off of trying to get to know me, to get to know her. It wouldn't bother her if he tried to talk to me, and then tried and talked to her, as long as I made it 100% clear I wasn't interested, she liked that nigga that much, shit all these girls around here did, they would fuck him right after their best friend did. I don't know what it was about that man that had these girls that far gone.
The biggest smile spread across her face, "girl don't play with me, you know I been peeping him since Freshman year, but these ho's always all up in his face" she had a stank look on her face as if she was seeing it in her head as we spoke.
I laughed, "I'll put in a word for you." She beamed, I had a class with his friend Jodie, so I knew I could just tell Jodie and he would definitely let him know. I looked at the time, "girl I have to go, I have a quiz today." I said as I began packing up my stuff to leave the café.
"Ok girl, good luck! Are you still coming out with me tonight?"
I sighed, the last thing I ever wanted to do was go out to clubs, I liked to chill, I could do the kickbacks, but the clubs were too much. But I had promised her I would go to this party with her, and I always backed out. I looked at her with a slight smile, "you know I don't want to, but since I backed out the last couple of times, I guess."
She got up and hugged me, "thank you Aria! I love youuuuu. I was tired of just going out with Jessie and Mink; Mink cool, but Jessie do too much sometimes." I laughed. "I'll catch you later girl, just call me!" I replied.
I made it to my class about 10 minutes early, and continued to look over my notes. As I was looking over them Jodie came and sat beside me. I liked Jodie, he was cool as hell, funny as hell, and hood as hell. He was a chocolate nigga with dreads, that he always kept neat, and a smile to die for. He pulled girls easily too, shoot, thinking of it, him and all the niggas he hung out with did.
"Ariaaaa," he sang my name. I smiled, "Wassup Jodie?" He took a seat beside me, getting comfortable as he sat his book bag down. "You study for this quiz?" he asked with all seriousness, before I could even respond he cut in, "nevermind, of course your smart ass studied for this quiz."
I laughed, "you're right."
He put a big smile on his face, "that's why I always sit beside you, you the reason I'm passing some of these classes."
I shook my head, "Do better Jodie."
"One day I will, but aye," he started as he changed the subject as he looked at him phone then at me, "I know you don't party like that, but you should come out tonight. It's going to be a good ass party, shit I'll look out for you and whoever you got with you." He looked back down at his phone like he was texting.
I was already going out, but the fact that he said he'd take care of everything pushed my interest to go more, I looked at him, "Okay, I'll go out tonight."
Jodie looked up from phone quickly to look at me, "Forreal?" he asked with wide eyes. I smiled, "yes, but one thing." He smacked his teeth, "I knew it was some shit."
I laughed, "chill, it ain't nothing crazy. My friend Kennedy is feeling Landon, make some magic happen with them tonight."
He stopped what he was doing and looked at me unsure and started laughing, "Uhhh, I don't know if I can do that."
I looked at him with a serious face, "Jodie, just tell him. He met her today, she pretty as hell, he had lust dancing all in his eyes when he was looking at her today. I'm sure there won't be any problems."
Jodie she just shook his head and laughed, "oh I'll tell him, no doubt."
