《Dreams of Happiness (BonexScourge)》Chapter Seven

Scourge groggily opened his eyes, those blue eyes that Bone had looked into and declared his love to. But no...that was a dream. Scourge's heartbeat quickened as he remembered the soft look in the black and white tom's eyes. That was wrong, everything was wrong.
Confusing frustration in the form of tears welled in his eyes. What had happened? Why that dream? And why did he long for it to return? How disgusting, someone as strong and powerful as Scourge...a Crosslover? Never.
His only thought was never, this would end now. Scourge refused to love Bone. Anger replaced the confusion and sadness...as it always had before. Anger and bloodshed were the only solutions to anything. That's what Scourge, respected leader of Bloodclan, had learned.
A mate, he would need a mate to deny...it. A female mate.
His eyes narrowed in fury and he stormed past dozens of murmuring cats on his way to the dumpster where he answered cats questions and pleas. At some point Bone filed in behind him, making Scourge flinch as his voice brought back flashes of his dream.
"What angers you, Scourge?" His voice was hard and cold, almost like a robots "If you need, I can find anycat. Whoever infuriated you so, can be killed instantly." There it was, the real Bone's voice. So hard and cold. All business and no feeling. It almost made Scourge long for the Bone from his dream, the one who would say the words softer, with meaning. And emptiness formed where the anger was...lonely. That's what Scourge was feeling...lonely.
Good thing that would be easily remedied by a mate. Anytime now, the line of cats waiting for his word to command them would sneak into view, he would see a beautiful feline that fancied him, and that would be the end of these disgusting thoughts, this horrible warm feeling he had whenever he imagined Bone.

"You...it's you Bone. You are angering me," Scourge spat without thinking as he continued to walk briskly "your stupid mind and the way it works. The way you never even glance at anyone but me. Why don't you go and get a mate already?! Remember you're allowed to!" The words spilled out harsher then Scourge had meant them to, but that was necessary. He could not show anything but cold emotionless control over Bone.
Scourge dared to glance back and what he saw made him whip his head back facing forward. Bone looked shocked, in the most horribly adorable way possible. Adorable?! No! What kind of thoughts-ugh. Scourge kept walking.
He looked for what he needed inside of him, that rage, he needed the rage back. There it was. So suddenly and surely. But not because Scourge had found it inside of him. But because Brick came into view. Brick, alive.
That's right...scourge had killed her only in his dreams. And she had said what she did only in his dreams. Brick...his other main supporter. A female. A she-cat who had served him well for a long time. Maybe it was time to forget about Bone and look at Brick in a new way.
"Hello, Brick, anything unusual to report?" Scourge decided to act normal for now, but watch her closer when he could.
"Not really sir, thought I saw a cat slip into a brick wall somewhere, but it must've just been my imagination because I couldn't find an entrance when I looked." She spoke in a sort of purring way that seemed to irritate Bone. Scourge hadn't noticed that before...then again he didn't care much for paying attention other cats. No wonder he didn't have a mate.
"Very well, instead I would like you to come with me to speak with the cats today, Bone, go along and take over Brick's patrols" Scourge promptly turned and walked to the front of the line of cats winding down the alley. The soft patter of Bricks feet behind him.
"I will see the first cat."

Good luck to him, anyway! All credit for the awesome cover goes to ssddx, who did a brilliant job putting it together, as I'm sure you can all see! I will note that, as pretty much all LitRPG novels have, that, to a certain extent, I have taken inspiration from other works I have read. This, however, is an original fiction. I hope any and all of you who read this fiction enjoy reading it just as much as I enjoy writing it, and please feel free to comment - I recognice that this will need work and will have things like typos - please feel free to point out any obvious things I forget about or miss out, as well as any typos. Also, feel free to lob suggestions my way if you have any - while I may not use them, they could very well inspire me in some way or another and help me improve this fiction, even if just by a little bit.

The Due
Every sailor knows the tale of Davy Jones' Locker. That place drowned sailors are sent to, ever resting on sea's bed. Some tales recount of a ghostly ship, the Flying Dutchman. Many a story has spawned from these two tales. Countless retellings mixing in their own fictions. But all stories spawn with a kernel of truth to them, and the story of Davy Jones is no exception. Those who've met the legendary seaman and his ghostly ship might call him a ferryman, escorting the drowned to their respective afterlives. Others might call him a devil, meting punishment on those deserving. The true story is always slightly different. Davy Jones is a ferryman, but not one for the afterlife, as Walter finds out. No, Davy Jones manages those who die at sea while in debt, and Walter died with a lot of debt. Unable to pay, Davy puts Walter to work. The specter has just the job for the dead college graduate. Another god, Sod, needs an afterlife for his new world. Davy tasks Walter with the job. Suddenly, Walter finds himself having to run a fledgling underworld with little instruction from Sod. To top it off, the denizens of Sod's world have their own ambitions to achieve godhood, and they won't take kindly to Sod's newest employee shaking up the status quo. [Traumatizing Content tag is up just to let everyone know this will be a story that deals with different themes of death. Some of them won't be nice and so better to be safe than sorry.]
