My best friend Brianna nudged me. We've been in the mall 20 minutes and so far she's done this shit 10 times.

I cut my eyes at her. "There are other ways to get my attention you know"

"Okay, what about him? He is fooiiinnee!" She sung ignoring me.

I rolled my eyes and glanced at the tall light skin E-boy she was gesturing to.

"Really? nothing?" She asked as if I drained the life out of her.

She always does this, I told her I don't want a boyfriend right now. I want to focus on friends and family and school... we have enough going on. Besides guys are so fucking gross. All they want to do is get in your pants.

Some guy walked up and aggressively put his arm around the dudes neck. I guess their friends or some shit.

The E-boy? I'm not interested in, but his friend on the other hand.. he had long natural hair forced into a bun on top of his head. He was chocolate colored, with juicy pinkish lips and wearing beautiful light green contacts. And he... had boobs?

My eyes trailed down his... her body. I didn't even know it was a girl at first. I blushed hard thinking about the fact I was really checking her out. I kept telling myself to look away but my eyes had other plans.

"I knew you was capping! He's cute as fuck!" Bri said leaning on the counter. We were waiting on our food in the food court.

I blushed "whatever bitch" I said glancing back over. The mystery girl meet eyes with me.

I freaked out on the inside. I expected her to look away but instead she smiled. Fuuucckkk. I looked away quick. Our food was ready and we grabbed our trays.

My mouth watered looking at my pizza on my plate. They always give big ass slices.

"Bitch I'm hungry as fuck" Bri said sliding into her seat across from me. I already knew we was about bust this food down.

Right when I took my first big ass bite, Bri kicked me under the table.

"Ow!" I said with my mouth full.

She leaned forward "Don't look but... I think he sent his friend over to talk to us"

My eyes almost popped out of my head. Shit! The girl that I thought was a boy? Why the fuck did she let me take that big ass bite before she said something?

I tried to chew faster without it looking fat as fuck.

"Excuse me"

I swear I almost choked. There she was standing beside me. Fuck, she was wearing some good ass cologne.

I looked up slowly, food still in my mouth. She chuckled.

"My name is Jaylen.. can I get your number?"

Bri's eyes went big when she heard Jaylen's voice but she ain't say shit.

I blushed and nodded chewing slowly, not sure what to do.

Jaylen licked her lips and took out her phone. "Bet." She said handing it to me.

I typed in my name and number and handed it back. She smiled looking down at it.

"Aight Kya.. it was nice meeting you" she smirked before walking away.

As soon as she was far enough not to hear, Bri opened her big mouth "girl!... that's a girl! She surprised the fuck outta me when she started talking. I ain't expect her to sound like that.... or be a girl. You do know she's gonna try to talk to you right?"

"S-so.. I mean duh.. that's how you communicate. You don't have to be the only friend I have Bri"

"She's gonna try to lick your box girl... you know what, hell maybe she should"

I laughed "bitch your nasty.. you know I don't like girls, and she probably just wants more friends. Not everybody nasty like you"

Bri looked at me then busted out laughing. I couldn't Help but laugh too.

"Okay okay! Well, either way.. I'm going to tell her I'm not interested in anything but friends"

She laughed again. "Mhmmm, and two days from now your gonna call me dickmatized... well strapmatized"

I cut my eyes at her "your not funny ! I told you, I have enough to focus on.. I can't think about love right now... and I'm NOT gay."

"I didn't say a damn thing about love. I said she's gonna end up eating your coochie"

I kicked her "stop! Like I said, I'm gonna set boundaries"

"Yea, she gonna be all up in those boundaries"

I scoffed at her playfully. "You make me sick"

We finished eating and started shopping. I headed straight to a rack of black dresses. We are in Cosmetology school after all, all we can wear is black.

My phone dinged and Brianna's eyes shot over to me.

"It's her isn't it" she smirked.

I cut my eyes. "Oh my god. I haven't even looked at the phone yet chill" I said pulling it out.

I blushed looking at my phone screen

UN: Hey, this is Jaylen. Wassup beautiful lady?

"What'd she say?" She asked practically breaking her neck to get to me.

"She just said hey, chill"

Of course Bri ignored me and her nosy ass looked at my phone. "Ooooo she calling you beautiful lady! Oh yea, she wanna taste you"

The old lady shopping near us looked up from her rack of clothes.

I glared at Bri. "Bitch chill! You act like you want her to taste you or something"

She laughed "girl no. I gots me a man"

"I don't know if I'd call him that." I hate her 'boyfriend' if I can even call him that. They are so off and on I don't even know their status right now. What I do know is he ain't shit. He's the classic male, fuck shit up then get angry at her for confronting him.

The old lady rolled away with her cart with a look of disapproval.

I went back to my messages when she walked away.

I sighed and went to my camera roll picking the picture I knew she'd want me to send.

I blushed hard but ignored her.

We finished shopping and Bri dropped me off at home.

"I see you were hanging out with that wild girl again" my dad said lowering the book he was reading.

Ugh I love my dad, but he's so judgemental. Then my mom swears she's young and hip, but is just as bad and is always in my business. I can't wait to move out.

I went upstairs and took a shower and of course as soon as I was done, my momma managed to have dinner ready and call me down. Damn, she knows what she's doing. Once I'm in my room I'm not coming out for the rest of the night.

As I dug into my meatloaf my phone dinged. I picked it up and a smile crept on my face when I saw who the message was from.

Jaylen: you never asked for a pic of me so imma send it anyway. 😗👉🏾👈🏾

I opened the pic and I bit my lip. Fuck she's cute. She has chocolate skin, with a baby face, and a ass of hair it looks like she mixed with Native American or something. In the picture she was chilling on a bench wearing a coral and navy blue bucket hat with her hair down. She was hunched over throwing up signs so I couldn't read her shirt, but I could see the coral nautica shorts with navy anchors printed all over them.

Damn she's cute.

I must've been smiling a lot.

"Is that Bri? Tell I said hi!" My mom said getting my attention.

"I don't know... is it Bri? I've never seen her smiling that hard just texting Bri."

I lied. Yes I'm grown but they're such helicopters parents! I really can't tell them anything. If I tell them it's a new friend I made, their gonna go into the "people are weird be careful who you consider your 'friends'" or their gonna assume it's some guy and lecture me that I need to "focus on school and family". Their so judgmental.

Jaylen: don't act like you weren't thinking about me 😌 anyway, I figured you want a contact picture to put with my name... unless you don't have my number saved.

Damn. I don't have her number saved. I opened the picture again and scanned her from head to toe. Then I saved her name and picture.

Kya: it is saved, thank you. 😌

Jaylen: as what? That weird stud from the mall? I bet you don't even remember my name

My dad stood up kind of fast scaring me a little.

"Okay, well since Kya has excused herself from the table clearly, I'm gonna clean up and go back to my book" I rolled my eyes.

Okay, I haven't looked up from my phone for a while... but it wasn't like we were talking about anything. Me and my mom watched him clean off his plate and put it in the dishwasher.

"I'll be up after I finish the dishes bae" she said getting up with her plate and taking mine.
