Kim Taehyung POV
I stood there, completely taken aback by what I was seeing. In fact, I even blinked a few times just to make sure my mind wasn't playing tricks on me, and that what I was seeing was actually real.
A+? Me? What kind of sick joke is that?
"You're screwing Mr.Lee aren't you ?" My best friend Baekhyun asked next to me.
"Oh fuck off. I actually studied for that" I replied and flipped him off as I turned my gaze back to my paper and stared at it once more.
"Might as well tell me you're straight. But you study, please." He laughed and shook his head as he shoved his essay result in his backpack and walked off.
I scratched the back of my neck and adjusted the cap on my head once more before I followed him out of the university. Still not fully understanding why and how I got that mark.
Maybe I should pay Mr. Lee a visit after all?
"So what do you want for lunch? Consider it my treat. Celebrating your lucky mark. And by lucky, I mean you got it out of pure luck." He said and dodged my punch as he laughed which soon turned into a growl when I grabbed him in a headlock.
"Okay! I said sorry!" He yelled and pushed me aside.
I laughed and tortured him for a bit longer before we reached the front gates. It was then that I noticed the same black car pull away slowly. All windows fully tinted, even the damn windshield!
I narrowed my eyes and watched as the car drove away. It was not the first time I had seen that car following me. In fact, I saw it almost every night as I left the cafe.
"What are you looking at?" Baek asked as he followed my gaze but the car had already driven off.
"Nothing. I was thinking Macdonald's for lunch." I said and crossed the street to the bus stop.
"How you eat all that junk and keep your body shape is something I'll never understand." He said as he shook his head and waited for the bus.
Even as he joked about his normal bullshit, completely oblivious to his surroundings, I could feel that tingly sensation at the back of my neck. The feeling you felt when you knew someone was watching you.

I turned my head slightly, trying not to be obvious about it, and checked the street, finding no one suspicious at all. I narrowed my eyes and turned back to a blabbering Baek, only to find him glaring at me.
"What?"
"You weren't listening again!" He semi yelled and sighed out of frustration as the bus pulled up in front of us.
He uttered something under his breath, something which I knew were words of cursing aimed at me, and hopped on to the bus.
He ignored my existence throughout the ride and while I couldn't exactly blame him, I had a lot on my mind lately. And this sudden mysterious black car that seemed to follow me constantly, only added to that list of worries.
"I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you. Desert's on me" I said as I put on my best puppy dog eyes to earn his sympathy which worked because he started talking to me for the rest of the ride.
"With all the desert you've been eating, I'm going to have to roll you down the street soon." He said laughing as I narrowed my eyes at him.
"I don't think I'm fat" I said as I got up and walked to get our order once our number was called.
" You're not fat. You're beautiful." He whispered as he took a sip of his soda making me stop in my tracks and turn around to face him which he probably was not expecting , as he looked at me like I had caught him stealing my cookies.
"What did you say?" I asked making him chew on his straw as he tried to avoid my gaze, something he did when he was nervous.
"Nothing. I'm hungry, now go get our food" he said played with a few ketchup sachets.
I shrugged and walked the counter, taking the tray that contained our meal and thought I must have been hearing things.
I mean why would he call me beautiful.?
We spent the next hour eating and talking about almost anything. Well he did most of the talking, I just sat back and listened to him. Something I always did, and something that relaxed me no matter how much of a shitty day I was having.

Baek had been my best friend since we kids and as far as I can remember, he had always been there for me. Through the tough time I had when my Dad took off. Through the misery I had to go through when my mother tried to kill herself on multiple occasions.
Heck he was there for me when I cried my ass off when I figured I was gay. I hated myself then because I had been conditioned to think that something was wrong with me. But it was Baek that wiped my tears and held me close. Telling me that I was still the same Tae he knew and I would always be.
"You're perfect just the way you are. Don't let anyone make you believe otherwise." He whispered over and over until I calmed down.
"You're not listening again are you?" He asked bringing me out of my thoughts and met with his stern glare.
"What are you thinking about?" He asked when he saw me staring at him.
"Just how lucky I am to have you. I honestly don't know what I would have done if I didn't." I said and watched him clear his throat, something he did when he was shy about something, which made him all the more cuter.
I smirked as his face turned a shade of dark red as he began chewing on his straw again.
"Well I'm lucky to have you too." He mumbled making me laugh at how shy he got so suddenly.
"What?" He asked and looked up at me with that genuinely confused expression.
"Nothing. You're just so cute is all." I said and laughed louder when he choked on his soda and began hitting his chest so he could breathe again.
"Oh come on Baek. I didn't mean it like that. Get your mind out of the gutter" I said as I shook my head at him while he drank a few gulps of his water.
I looked down at my watch and realized that I had hung out with him a little longer that I expected and that I was most definitely going to be at least ten minutes for work if I didn't leave right now.
"Listen, I'm going to have to take a rain check on that dessert. I'm really late for work." I said and watched a frown slowly work its way onto his face despite his effort not to.
"It's fine. I guess I'll see you tomorrow then?" He asked to which I nodded and walked out as fast as I could before I missed the bus, when I found myself walking right into a hard surface.
I winced as I looked down at the man that I had knocked over in my attempt to run and widened my eyes when I took in his formal appearance.
Dressed in a full black suit with hair neatly combed and styled, was a fair skinned man glaring at me as if I had done it on purpose.
"Sir, are you alright?" Another man , who had been standing next to him, asked and helped the latter up from the ground.
The man dusted himself off and glared at me as if I was the scum of the earth making me raise my eyebrow at him.
What's stuck up his ass?
"I'm really sorry. I didn't see you" I said to which he snorted and rolled his eyes.
"Clearly." He replied which made me want to laugh. Despite him acting all tough, I couldn't help but think..
He looked so much like a bunny..
"Sir how about we go somewhere else?" The other guy suggested.
I looked back at the guy who was approximately my height, maybe a few centimeters taller, and actually thought for a second that he was going to punch me with the way he was looking at me.
"I've lost my appetite anyway." He replied and pushed past me out the door. I stared at his back and shook my head.
Why do rich people always have to be so rude.
I thought and mentally cursed as I looked at my watch. I ran out the door and just made it to the bus. I leaned against the window and found myself smiling as I thought about the man..
What a feisty little bunny.

Catalyst: Avowed
The year is 605, and in your home— the country of Corcaea— the souls of mankind belong to demons. A phenomenon known as the "Catalyst" is what's to blame. This diabolical phenomenon lurks within every man, woman, and child. It can turn any human into a demon, if they fall prey to one, all-consuming element. It can be anything. Fear. Grief. Generosity. Even love. In a land where Gods are real and Corcaea's theocracy is the last hope for mankind, you follow in the footsteps of Father Richard Anscham: a deeply disturbed young priest, the leader of the Church of Mercy, and the foremost researcher of the Catalyst. Despite completing a holy mission from the Goddess of Mercy, obtaining a holy Relic, and escaping from demon-infested ruins, Father Anscham is in greater peril than ever before. Ravaged in mind, body, and soul, the solace he begs to receive from the Church of Flesh is impeded by a cruel lesson: the ramifications of a life spent sacrificing everything one has for others. See through the harrowing eyes of a man at his wit's end; through a dark fantasy tale of horror, hope, and desperation. Search for the cure. Conquer your personal demons. Welcome to Catalyst! As this is an archive of Catalyst Quest (an interactive, collaborative story), the prompts that were included with the original run of Avowed have been stripped, and the story is presented like a traditional novel for your reading convenience. If you would like to read Catalyst in its original format or participate in current events, you can find us here, on Sufficient Velocity. This book is complete! The story will continue with Catalyst: Calunoth, just as soon as I am done revising its content for here on Royal Road.
