《True Love [BxB] (Unedited)》Chapter 6

Taehyung POV
"I'm glad you decided to take the offer. I have a feeling we're going to work well together." Mr. Jeon said as he extended his hand towards me and smiled that familiar smile.
"Uhh. Me too" I replied and shook his hand.
"Here is the contract. Once you sign it we can begin" he said handing me a file causing me to raise my eyebrow.
"I thought you gave me the contract already?" I asked as I took the file and opened it.
"Did you honestly think I would give you the contract with the possibility of you saying no, though I had no doubt you'd say yes, but let's just say, I like play it safe" he said as he lit his cigar while I read through the contract.
I narrowed my eyes and felt my heart stop when I read the clause of betraying The Heartless Dragon.
It said that the person who betrayed them, would immediately be publicly killed in front of all the members. I gulped and looked back at Mr. Jeon while he smoked his cigar and calmly looked out the window as if he had absolutely no worry in the world.
"On the outside, it might look like there is a lot you have you sacrifice, but not only will you become wealthy over night, you will gain the family you never had." He said as he sipped the drink in his hand.
"Everyone thinks The Heartless Dragon is a ruthless mafia group that thrives on bloodshed, and while that may be slightly true, in the end, we're a family and we protect each other. You're now becoming a part of that family." He said as he placed his hand on my shoulder.
"I know you think I may not know a lot about you, but trust me Taehyung, I have been watching you for a while now and there is absolutely no one else I could ask to take care of my son more than you" he said as he turned his head to stare out the window again and I couldn't help but notice that he had this far off look on his face. Almost as if he was remembering something.
"He's been through a lot this past few months and although he's shown everyone that's he fine, a father always knows, and I can see he's not doing well at all. But I can't help him in the way he needs. That is why I need you to help him for me." He said as he turned and looked into my eyes, bearing all his hurt and pain.

"I don't understand. I thought you just wanted me to be his body guard."
"I want you to be more than his bodyguard. I want you to be his eyes. I want you to see the things he can't see and protect him from them. I want you to be his ears. Hear the things he can't and prevent him from making the same mistake again. God knows how it kills him everyday even when he tries to hide it." He said and turned his gaze from me.
I didn't have to be some sort of genius to know that his emotions had gotten the best of him and when he took out his handkerchief, I knew he had cried.
Just who the hell was his son and what the hell had he done?
"I'll try my best" I replied.
"That is all I ask." He said and smiled at me while I signed the contract and let out a huge breath.
Somehow, in some weird way, it felt as though a ton of bricks had been placed on top of me yet again. I had just signed my life away and for what! Because some grown ass man cried in my face and practically begged me to save his son!
Why did I have to care so much!
"Your pay will be deposited into your bank account immediately. However, as from now, you cannot go back home. I will be taking you to the mansion immediately to get aquatinted with everyone and the routine." He said making me widen my eyes.
"Excuse me, hold on. I haven't even told my mother anything yet. Or my friends, what do you think people are going to think if I just disappear from the face of the earth. Not to brag or anything, it's not like I'm a nobody" I said and watched him narrow his eyes in co contemplation.
"I'm sorry. It states there in the contract. You cannot go home. You're a part of The Heartless Dragon family now" he said making me sigh out loud when I realized I was going to get no where with this guy.
"Fine, can I at least make a phone call. Wouldn't want people thinking I was kidnapped now would we?" I asked him with a raised eyebrow.

"Fine. One phone call. Make it quick" he said to which I nodded and got out of the car.
I scrolled through my contacts and dialed Baek's number, kicking a stone while I waited for him to answer.
"Hello?"
"Hey Baek it's me" I answered back and for some reason I could feel this throb in my chest for what I was about to do.
"Hey. What's up? Why are you calling me this early in the morning? You don't need me to bail you out of jail do you? Because if that's the case I'll have you know that I -"
"Baek relax, and no I'm not in jail, I just umm. Wanted to talk you about something." I replied and felt my heart throb even more.
I had never ever thought that the day would come wherein I had to say goodbye to Baek. He was my best friend and had been there for throughout my life. He was a part of me and someone I saw myself being friends with for the rest of my life.
"Yeah?"
"Something's come up and I need to leave to the country for a while. I don't know how long it will, maybe a couple months. I've already emailed the university about my leave." I lied and felt terrible for lying since this was the very first time I had ever done that.
Since we became friends, we had made it our rule to tell each other everything and to always tell the truth even if it terrified us. And it broke me more than I could ever imagine to break that promise.
"Is everything okay? You're not making any sense?" He said and I had to swallow the choke in my throat.
"I can't really explain but I promise when I get back I will. I'm giving you full access to my bank account, I need you to take care of my mother for me. Make sure she takes her medicine and eats well. Get her everything she needs okay. For me?" I asked and wiped my eyes when I felt the tears gathering in my eyes.
"Tae you know I hate the woman's guts for everything she's done to you. But if that's what you need me to do, I'll do it. But you're scaring me. Are you in some kind of trouble?" He asked and I let out a sigh at having to lie to him yet again.
"No, it's just something I have to do. Where I'm going there isn't good cell reception so I probably won't be able to talk everyday but I'll try my best to get in touch with you okay? Keep well Baek." I said and prepared to hang up before I said anything else.
"Tae?"
"Yes?"
"I love you buddy."
My heart clenched at that and I closed my eyes and allowed the tears to fall down my cheeks when he said that. I knew he didn't mean it in the friendly way and although I had always seen him as my friend, I had developed something more for him. I was always so afraid of telling him, thinking it would affect our friendship. But when he said that, it threw away all the self control I had built over the years.
"I love you too Baek." I replied and listened to him sigh out of relief.
"I never thought I'd hear you say that." He said as he chuckled and I heard a bit sniffing. I suppose he was emotional about it as well.
"Me neither. The timing sucks though." I said and listened to him laugh. I smiled at the sound of his laughter, something I had always loved about him.
"Don't worry. I'll take care of everything here. I'll be waiting for you to get back and tell me what the hell is going on with you." He replied before he said his goodbye and ended the call.
I smiled as I looked at the screen on my phone. He knew me so well and knew that I hated saying goodbye. It was why he had hung up before I could say it.
I loved him so much and one day I would show him that.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
