Chapter 1372: Chapter 1372 – Secrets
The arrow that Zhang Heng had just shot was no ordinary arrow. It was the [ arrow of Paris ] that was used to look for weaknesses.
However, this time, the trajectory of the [ arrow of Paris ] in the air did not change at all. It pierced straight into the throat of one of the twins.
The scene looked a little bloody, but in terms of effect, it was no different from his previous attack. Both were neutralized by the miraculous regeneration ability of the twins, the twins who had been shot by the arrow were now able to open their mouths to speak again, and their spirits were not much different from before. This meant that the plague effect on the [ plague bone bow ] had not taken effect either.
He weighed the arrow in his hand and asked curiously, “As the rumors say, you are indeed proficient in all kinds of combat techniques. Other than archery, marksmanship, and Sabersmanship, do you have any other trump cards?”
“I do have hidden cards, but unfortunately, I’m afraid you won’t be able to see them,”Zhang Heng replied. Although the arrow didn’t succeed, there was no disappointment on Zhang Heng’s face, he lowered his head to look at the starfish in his hand again.
From the start of the battle until now, about two minutes had passed. In other words, there was only one minute left for him to break out of the encirclement. From the expressions on the twins’faces, it could be seen that.., they were gradually relaxing.
Zhang Heng had already tried three different methods of attack, but none of them had yielded any results. From the looks of it, there was really nothing he could do to them. As long as they could hold out for another minute, their mission to pin them down would be complete.
Therefore, when the twins saw Zhang Heng put away his [ hidden scabbard ] and took out two knives from his waist, their eyes did not show much wariness.

One of them even advised, “As long as Mr. Simon doesn’t make a move, we will do our best to ensure your safety.”
“You should worry about yourself first,”Zhang Heng interrupted the twins and said lightly.
After saying that, he stabbed the knife in his hand. This time, his target was the twin on his left hand. This time, the twin also moved his body and hurriedly dodged to the back. However, compared to Zhang Heng’s knife.., his movement was a little slow. In the end, he could not completely dodge the knife and was stabbed in the lower abdomen.
Before he could cry out in pain, Zhang Heng had already pulled out the knife and used his fastest speed to stab the chest of the other twin. The twin subconsciously raised his hand to protect his chest, however, his expression suddenly changed.
It was not until Zhang Heng took half a step back that he realized that a small knife had appeared in his lower abdomen. The position of the knife was actually the same as his twin brother’s.
However, this time, the wounds of the two did not heal as quickly as before. Therefore, Zhang Heng knew that he had guessed correctly.
“How is this possible? !”One of the twins knelt on one knee and clutched his lower abdomen. With a shocked expression, he said, “How did you discover our secret in such a short time?”
At that moment, his face was no longer as relaxed as it had been when the mission was almost completed. There was only pain and confusion.
“Your quick-healing wounds are indeed quite deceiving. At first, I was almost fooled by you,”Zhang Heng said, “But after I tried it, I realized that your wounds weren’t healing at all. It was more like a mechanism to replicate each other.”
Zhang Heng didn’t explain to them the functions of [ hidden scabbard ] , [ pestilence bone bow ] , and [ Parris’s arrow ] , but he pointed at their arms, “Actually, when I first met you, I felt that something was wrong. There are many identical twins in this world, but it’s rare to see twins like you. “Fortunately, there is something different about the two of you. It’s your right arm. There is a mole on the inner side of your right arm, but your brother or brother doesn’t have it. In the end, when I cut off your arm, the mole on the inner side of your newly grown arm disappeared. It was then that I gradually came to the same conclusion.

“Your rapid healing is actually a kind of skill that duplicates each other. Your twin brothers are copies of each other. I don’t know how you do it, but once someone is injured, the injured part can be replicated according to the other person’s intact body. This explains why the two of you are becoming more and more alike.”
Zhang Heng still hadn’t said a word. This was also the reason why [ hidden scabbard ] , [ plague bone bow ] , and [ Parris Arrow ] didn’t take effect.
“Can you even notice such… small details?”The other twin was also stunned.
However, Zhang Heng didn’t answer his question because the minute was almost up. He told the two of them, “Don’t move.” “Cover your stomachs and stay here quietly. When your people arrive, ask them to send you to the hospital immediately.”
After saying that, Zhang Heng picked up the [ Arrow of Paris ] that he had just shot out and disappeared from their sight with the Sr-25 in his arms.
When the man wearing sunglasses and his men arrived, they saw the twin brothers leaning against a tree trunk with an awkward expression on their faces.
However, this time, no one opened their mouths to mock them. Other than the fact that they were still alive, everyone had to give them some face. Most importantly, unlike the Gnomes, the ghost twins were quite famous among the players, their strength had also been tested.
Even they were unable to hold Zhang Heng back for even a few minutes. This cast a shadow over the hearts of the players once again.
However, the man in sunglasses did not say anything. He only ordered his men to help the twin brothers into the car. After a simple treatment, he was taken to the county hospital.
After sending the two away, the players initially thought that the man in sunglasses would continue to recruit people who could hold Zhang Heng back. However, they did not expect the man in sunglasses to take the blame this time, “It’s my fault. Knowing that Simon is the number one player, we still sent people to his side. This allowed him to succeed time and time again. From now on, no one should act alone.”
“Then how are we going to surround him?”Someone frowned. “If there really is guerrilla warfare in the forest, even if we manage to kill him in the end, the casualties will not be small.”
“Don’t worry about that. The engineering team has already made preparations. It should be about time now,”the man in sunglasses said. “Soon, he will have nowhere to run.”
As if to answer his words, the sound of a propeller turning rang in everyone’s ears. Someone lifted his head when he heard the sound and saw a black shadow coming from the direction of the convoy.
— drones. There were many of them. It was estimated that there were more than a hundred of them.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5

My Newest, and at the same time, Oldest novel. This is a Rewrite of my very first novel that I begun when I was just starting out. It follows the story of Mark Floyd, a broken man who once tried to do what he thought was right... only to be stabbed in the back and thrown away. Now, pulled into a conflict that spans time and space, Mark has a choice to make; Stand up once more, even if it means facing an unknowable future, or let the Embers of his heart die and sink back into darkness. ----------------------------------- “For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity”. Once part of a Special Ops team in the US Army, Mark Floyd thought he had seen the worst that Humanity had to offer. That was until his final mission, one that would leave him a broken and shattered man, betrayed by the Country he served, and abandoned by society as a whole. His dreams filled with nightmares of the ones he failed to protect, mind and memories clouded by booze and more, Mark finds himself stumbling through life without purpose or desire. Life isn't done with Mark yet, however. For as long as even a single ember remains in a persons heart, here is still yet hope for the flames of Passion and Hope to be Rekindled. When the dying embers of Mark's heart catches the eyes of a Being far beyond his understanding, Mark finds himself thrown into a situation not even his years of training could prepare him for. Will this new chance be Mark's hope at both Redemption and Recompense? Or will it simply be the final nail in the coffin for a man already dead to the World? [This is a rework of my very first story. The general story will remain the same, however a few details have been tweaked, the chapters have be Edited better and some chapters have been broken down into smaller chunks for better flow and consistency. The biggest change will be to the System itself; It will be a lot less "Game-like", meaning no stats, levels or similar aspect, though skills will still be present in the form of "Programs". Instead, It'll focus more on the Sigil's nature as super-computers and how they change the world around them. This should make for a much more "natural" and less info-dumpy system.
