Chapter 457: 457
Chapter 457: Vol6 Ch45: Feel ‘pain’
「 Damned traitors! 」the serpent’s chaotic consciousness fluctuated and caused the countless eyes on its body to move as well.
As soon as it felt Yun Yi, it charged straight at him, only for a Desolate to interrupt its boastful—– I mean, its grand declaration, so the serpent that was suffering from unceasing pain became even more furious.
Furthermore, as soon as it saw the familiar red blades of hostility, the serpent’s consciousness recalled some highly unpleasant memories, causing it to give up on its primary target Yun Yi and began to chase after Yun Rong.
「 I am the Desolate God, the progenitor of all Desolates!! 」the serpent howled and slightly coiled its body.
The countless crimson iris scales instantly began to radiate an immense amount of grudge. The bright red grudge and hatred flowed out from the serpent’s body like individual demons that rapidly encompassed its entire surroundings.
Within this crimson background, the serpent returned to its original jet-black appearance. A huge amount of pain venom writhed on the serpent’s body before slithering towards the insects on the ground.
At the very moment that the crimson energy expanded, the two blades of hostility in Yun Rong’s hands shrunk from its previous gigantic size down to be as big as a machete.
He subconsciously thought of Killer J’s unreliable appearance, but having no other choice, he could only trust him.
As the blades of hostility gave off a tiny sound of vibration, a layer of cloud patterns appeared all around Yun Rong’s body as he attempted to imitate the ability he learnt earlier.
During this so-called ‘teaching of his ultimate technique’ from Killer J, Yun Rong received a pair of blades made out of hostility. It can gather and scatter, as well as shrink and grow at will, it is also capable of destroying the majority of structures made from soul energy, a bona fide Mythical-class weapon.
After that Yun Rong was taught a blade technique made to be used with the blades of hostility. According to Killer J’s ‘accidental’ muttering, this peerless blade technique was created at the climax of a long-hour battle with the toilet bowl when he had to focus his entire body’s muscles to push out a huge dump.

“Eight Cuts of Xia Ji[1]!” Yun Rong shouted out the name of the technique while feeling so embarrassed that he could die.
A prerequisite of this blade technique was that it needed support from the blades of hostility, and being the kind of person he was, Killer J had set up the blades of hostility so that the user must loudly call out the name of the technique in order for it to activate correspondingly.
Yun Rong rapidly swung the blades of hostility in his hand with reckless abandon, during which the blades of hostility continued to break off one inch at a time, turning into tiny thin pieces that surrounded Yun Rong’s body.
The bright red blades of hostility and the crimson grudge demons clashed against one another. The powerful destructive capabilities of hostility swiftly cut up the countless grudges into the tiniest particles that made up the concept of ’emotions’, with a red flash, everything around Yun Rong’s body turned into light and disappeared.
The countless tiny fragments once again reform into a single blade to block the serpent’s tail that was swung towards Yun Rong.
If taking only combat prowess into consideration, who was more powerful between Killer J and the serpent? The answer was most likely the serpent.
After all, the serpent was a lifeform created from gathering many Totems together, which were actually pure manifestations of Source Energy. This made the nature of its existence surpass Killer J’s current body that was made up of hostility.
Of course, even though the serpent had managed to obtain a Seed of Truth of the concept of ‘pain’, its consciousness was currently divided into numerous sides; this made it so that its thought process wasn’t completely chaotic, but also didn’t have a set of complete logical thinking.
Secondly, the serpent’s body was made through forcefully piecing numerous Totems together. This, fortunately, allowed it to comprehend the Truth of ‘pain’, but didn’t actually remove any of its shortcomings, so there were plenty of weaknesses to be taken advantage of.
If Killer J and the serpent truly fought one another, it would probably be a 50/50.
This included Killer J using the Divine Artifact Unreachable Gate at full strength, after all, the serpent also had a Divine Artifact inside its body.

And so, Yun Rong couldn’t do anything but watch as the streak of light was unable to endure the serpent’s force and broke into pieces again while he was sent flying by the force.
「 Feel ‘pain’! 」the serpent opened its mouth and shot out a mass of black venom, each drop of this venom turned into an arrow that rapidly flew towards Yun Rong.
Everyone was fully aware of this venom’s infectivity, those who came into direct contact with this venom would undergo an irreversible transformation into a head snake. Not even Lan Shan had been able to reverse this conversion.
This was also the most dangerous part of fighting against the serpent, having to constantly watch out for its venom.
With the speed of the venom, Yun Rong would be unable to avoid it. Although, he didn’t need to avoid it in the first place, as he wasn’t the only one fighting against the serpent.
An energy field was swiftly erected that stopped the venom in its track. The energy field acted like a bubble that contained the mass of venom before floating in the air. The contained venom turned back into a jet-black snake that tried to fight its way out, but was unable to break through the energy bubble no matter how it tried.
While also covered in a layer of energy barrier that blocked out the crimson grudge, Yun Yi coldly looked at the hovering energy bubble and slowly suppressed it.
Having done numerous experiments, he had become an expert on the venom. While he still couldn’t cure the people infected by it, it wasn’t difficult for him to create something to contain it.
This type of venom was dangerous mostly because it could be transmitted across the collective subconsciousness into one’s mind. Although its infectivity won’t suddenly decrease through bodily infection, there are quite a few ways to restrain it as long as it shows up in a tangible manner.
「 Detestable trivial shrewdness! 」the serpent furiously roared and moved its body, once again opening its mouth to release a mass of ominous gas at unimaginable speed towards the two of them.
In this entire subjugation squad, the ones that the serpent hated the most weren’t its long-time enemies, the Celestials, but Yun Yi and Yun Rong, the two traitor Desolates. The central consciousness of the serpent was divided into many parts, the largest of which belonged to the original Desolate Spirit and Meng Luo.
Yun Yi stole Meng Luo’s [Protagonist Aura], which led to the war eventually becoming worse for the Desolates. And Yun Rong was hated because of the blades of hostility in his hands.
Although Killer J frequently disappoints people and fails his missions, his ability to draw hostility was, in fact, second to none.
And then there was also the grudge of the Desolates inside the serpent.
[Why do we have to stay inside the serpent’s body and endure this unceasing pain, while those two get to completely ignore it and stay safe outside?]
In certain situations, envy could distort an individual even more than hatred could. This was because the majority of losers need to rely on comparisons in order to console themselves, that their failure wasn’t due to their own faults but rather a lack of luck. They wanted to see that under the same circumstances and situation, others would fare just as badly as they did.
For this reason, the very first reaction for most people after seeing their suffering compatriots obtaining success wasn’t congratulations, but envy. As for how one adjusted themselves to these emotions depended on the individuals themselves.
And so, while most of the Desolates were suffering indescribable pain inside the serpent’s body, they suddenly saw two other Desolates who were completely fine and were even their enemy. How could they not go insane out of envy?
The serpent’s gigantic jaw snapped towards the two Desolates. Before the jaws had even arrived, the black smoke had already turned into slithering snakes that leapt towards them.
[1] I’m pretty sure that this is a pun from the author, “夏姬” – Xia Ji is the name of a famous Chinese historical figure, but it’s pronounced in a similar manner to “下肌”, which means “lower body muscle”

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Changement : Version Face [French]
Notice: This story is in French, not in english, mainly because of my poor english. I may translate it later if I get better, and hopefully I will. - Author's note: this story is a concept. During the first chapter, the main character is faced with a major decision, which will change his life forever, and, not knowing what to do, he decide to play heads or tails, and let fate choose for him. And so there will be two versions of this story, one for each of the result, and their consequences for the main character, as well as all those around him. Here, he got heads.
