Towards the two guys’ worried gazes, Qiao Qing’s heart warmed, “I’m fine. It’s more urgent to save Leng Yan right now.”

She then stopped herself from feeling sad and focused on the medical book.

“You found a way?”

The two men raised their eyebrows. Qiao Qing didn’t stay to give a response and rushed out the door to go to the laboratory.

The two men dropped what they were doing and followed.

At the lab, they saw Qiao Qing pick out medicine. They couldn’t help but ask, “You found a way to treat him?”

“I’m not sure yet.” Qiao Qing said, “But I have a good idea of what medicine to use. However … whatever… let me try this out first.”

Jun Yexuan and Qi Yusen exchanged glances and they appeared ecstatic.

The happiest out of everyone was of course Jun Yexuan. His love rival wasn’t going to die, which meant Qiao Qing won’t have to remember him for the rest of her life. And of course, by that, he also meant that when Qiao Qing cured him she would give herself to him.

Everyone inside the castle found out that Qiao Qing had found a way to cure Leng Yan and they were all ecstatic. Zhou Xin and Yu Mo, in particular, wanted to basically worship Qiao Qing.

After another day, Qiao Qing had finished her medicine.

However, due to the properties of this medicine, she couldn’t use it on Leng Yan.

So Qiao Qing took some of Leng Yan’s blood to experiment.

After she finished the experiment, her heart dropped. Qi Yusen and Jun Yexuan, who had been by her side the entire time, asked, “What is it?”

Qiao Qing didn’t respond and tried again. However, the result was the same.

Jun Yexuan and Qi Yusen didn’t know medicine and couldn’t really understand what she was looking at. So they had to ask her again.

Qiao Qing looked over to them and shouted, “The medicine I mixed cannot be injected into Leng Yan’s blood!”

“Don’t be impatient.” Jun Yexuan said, “You’ve made it through the most difficult part. All you have to do now is learn how to solve the problem.”

Qiao Qing knew that Jun Yexuan was comforting her but she didn’t feel at all comforted.

As a doctor, she knew that no detail should be ignored.

She’s made the medicine now but it’s incompatible when used with the patient. This was not an easy problem to solve.

Her heart was a mess but she forced herself to calm down. First, she got Jun Yexuan and Qi Yusen out of there so she could focus fully on the experiment. She used all the medical knowledge she’d ever learned to try different formulas for the medicine.

This change was something nobody predicted. The atmosphere inside the castle became depressive right away. However, nobody blamed Qiao Qing.

Over the next few days, Qiao Qing lived inside the lab. She continued to try different methods for her experiment.

The more someone valued time, the more time felt like sliding sand.

In the blink of an eye, there were only a few days left in the month. Leng Yan didn’t even have the strength to get out of bed anymore.

The entire Leng family fell into dread.

Qiao Qing went down a size. She was already not sleeping much but she was always forced back to her room by Jun Yexuan and Qi Yusen.

Every time she closed her eyes, all she could see were Leng Yan’s black and white photo and money made out of paper.

At 4 am today, Jun Yexuan walked into the lab room and hugged Qiao Qing from behind, “Stop torturing yourself. You’ve done everything you could. Have you heard of that one saying? What’s meant to happen will happen.”

“I don’t believe in that! I don’t believe in it!” Qiao Qing thrashed herself against Jun Yexuan’s chest. Her last line of defense had crumbled and she began to cry a river.
