Holy crap. Holy crap holy crap--I can finally tell you guys now. So if you're a LitRPG fan or even just an Audiobook fan in general, then you probably know who Soundbooth Theater is and what they do. (They're basically THE top indie producers for full-cast audiobooks.) Well, they found Dating Trials on Royal Road, fell in love, and did a full-cast narration for this book. It's now LIVE on the Soundbooth Theater website, and they told me I could give my RR fans a discount code for 35% off, which, stacked with their current Halloween sale of 15%, means the audiobook is 50% off, down from $11.99 to only $5.99. That's...freakin' awesome for an audiobook, but especially one of their books.
Anyway, the sale coupon code is: DATINGTRIALS35
link is Vampire Queen 1: The Samurai - Soundbooth Theater
Soundbooth also has a bunch of other stuff from me for free, and they did Stars Have Eyes and Kaiju Battlefield Surgeon, too, and are about to do my brother (Macronomicon's) Industrial Strength Magic. AND they don't take 60%-80% right off the top like Audible does (it's only 20), so it's a LOT more reasonable to authors like me. Only problem is exposure, because Audible's got the monopoly, and it takes all those $$$ for literally doing NOTHING but being a middleman... Please pass this code out to anyone you think might like it, and let them know about Soundbooth! They JUST went live with a brand new app, and are going to be adding to their available books every month, which is so exciting to me as an author who's been shafted by Audible for literally a decade. It's GOOD to see some new guys on the block, and we as a community NEED to show them some support.

As to the next update to this book, I'm halfway done with Skymancer right now (87k keepable words) and this one is next on my docket to get some mojo going for. In general, it's hard for me to work on 2 projects at once because I have a really shitty memory and I need to review everything before I write anything new. HOWEVER, in the meantime, if one of you wanted to go on my Discord and give me the rundown of what has happened so far, I could probably eke out a few more chapters between now and the end of Skymancer in a couple weeks. I'd need some help, though. I'm not joking about the bad memory thing.

I also do Facebook pretty regularly if you'd rather use that: Sara King | Facebook
Anyway, whatever happens, more should be coming on this story soon--a lot more. I write super fast and it's winter in Alaska (read: boring as fuck, nowhere to go, nothing to do but write), so even without someone to remind me what's what, it shouldn't be long before I launch back into Vampire Queen. I'm aiming to get three more books done on this series before next spring, ESPECIALLY because Soundbooth is putting out the series in audio. WOOT!!! SUPPORT INDIE!!

A (Not So) Simple Fetch Quest
Oh great hero! The evil Demon Lord has once again arisen to terrorise our lands, and we have summoned you to save our people! No, we don't want you to fight the demon lord! Of course not; we're the good guys! What sort of good guys kidnap people from other worlds and force them to take part in wars that have nothing to do with them? That would just be plain evil! We'd be no better than the demons! Katie, after her summoning by an excessively loud mage suddenly takes an unexpected twist, is sent off on a simple fetch quest, with a promise that she'll be back home in five minutes at most. She doesn't even need to leave the building. Alas, when a goddess' blessing causes her wish for an actual adventure to be taken rather more literally than she expected, she finds herself lost in a dark cave, far away from the sword she was supposed to acquire and far too close to a population of giant bugs. Still, at least she wished her life wasn't in any danger. Among other things. Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it. This is a dark litRPG adventure, both in terms of Katie accidentally wishing all the lights out, and also in that she loses as often as she wins, often with horrific and disturbing consequences. Luckily, Katie isn’t the sort of person to let a mere grizzly death or two get her down, and is prepared to try, try and try again to get her hands on the holy sword and finally complete her ‘simple’ fetch quest. Or perhaps—with a few resistance skills under her nightie—she might even come to enjoy losing. Not that she’d ever consider forgoing revenge, even if she did. I’ve ticked all the content warning checkboxes for this one. There’s no explicit sexual content, but there are enough references to justify the warning. Profanity happens rarely, but Katie isn’t averse to swearing when she gets particularly angry. As for gore/trauma, it doesn’t get much worse than the first few chapters, but there will be occasional chapters that have extra content warnings.
