[1x11]: That time I was reincarnated into another world and decided to look for allies
Leaving the cleanup to the Adventurer's Guild, I made my way to Seedy Underworld and Black Market district of the Generic Starting RPG Town, following the road signs that pointed the way.
I was shredding cobblestones and grinding thatched roofs and wooden shingles as I skateboarded around the busy city streets. I ollied over a Dwarf, earning 700 points and a shout of outrage, which I promptly ignored. "Superman" by Goldfinger was blaring over my [Brain Cellphone], setting the stage for the moral crisis currently going through my head.
I had a coupon for a free [Doggirl Companion], but she would be a... a s-s-s-slave?! Was that really okay?
Back on Earth, slavery was wrong! It was a gross violation of human rights, a disgusting and immoral practice rooted in the past, and a huge violation of civil liberties. Because of that, it was only legal for Class-C and higher citizens to own slaves. I had only been a Class-E before I got Isekaied, but now in this new kick-ass Isekai fantasy gamer world, I was handsome, rich, and powerful. There's good chance I'd be Class-B at least. Still... I wasn't sure if that really made it right.
This was another human, or almost-human life. Was it really something I could truly own? Life was sacred, and owning slaves was bad, because politicians and corp execs did it, or so I was given to understand. Was it really okay to impose my will on another sapient being? To force it to comply with my orders? To rob it of its freedom and exact an everyday, unending tyranny? To make it wear silly costumes and cook me grilled cheese sandwiches?

On the one hand, slavery was morally reprehensible, the ultimate disrespect one could show, a complete and callous disregard for the sanctity of life, liberty, and freedom. It was a sovereign crime, worse than many of the other violences one could visit upon a person.
On the other hand, however, it was free with a coupon.
I was torn, biting my nails as I activated my [4D Maneuvering] to slow time and space to pop a wicked 1080 off of the gable of one house to land on another. Up ahead, I could see the blue and white edifice of the massive Thrall*Mart come into view. I was no closer to understanding whether or not slavery was wrong, but I did have about 45 seconds left in which to speedrun a couple centuries worth of philosophy.
I did a 360+Pop Shove It +Nosegrab and nailed the landing, skidding to a halt in front of the slave market. The double doors opened automatically because of magic or something, and I kicked up my board, using a Skill to automatically strap it back onto my back. Which Skill? Fuck you.
I walked into the building, and immediately gasped in shock. There was a young woman right in the entrance, wearing the blue vest that marked the uniform of the Thrall*Mart. She was beautiful, or would have been, but her eyes were haggard, with heavy bags beneath them. Her posture was limp, like a flower that had gone unwatered, or a tired snake. Her green hair was frazzled, and all around here was a lack of life, as if she had been worn down and tread upon for years.
She looked up at me, her eyes dead and empty, and let out a low, lifeless murmur.
"Welcome to Thrall*Mart. I love you."
I stared at the poor thing, a single tear rolling down my cheek. Is this what slavery did to hot anime babes? But... [Doggirl Companion]. I quickly averted my eyes and walked into the Thrall*Mart. I was feeling significantly less confident about my ensuing purchase.
I entered into the entrance hall and looked about. The floors were polished stone, all one flat unbroken surface, and the lights above were magi-florescent lights, long bars that had the same sickly glow and iconic low annoying hum that I was used to.
I looked forward and saw tons and tons of giant cages, with people, animals, and animal people within them. Rows and aisle criscrossed the mind-bogglingly large floorplan of the store, and giant signs indicated each department, from "Garden Slaves" to "House Slaves" to "Battle Slaves" and more. As I stepped forward, trying to figure out where I would need to go, a nearby shadow rippled, and a pitch-black figure rose from it.

A humanoid figure with the appearance, consistency, and taste of motor oil billowed up from the floor until it took full size at about 6'6.6". The oil slick dripped back into the floor, leaving behind a man dressed in a sharp red suit. He grinned a smile at me, his sharp teeth glinting in the light, and gave friendly shrug of his shoulders, which were pointed out and up to match the pair of large horns jutting from his slicked-back black-and-on-fire hair.
"Helllloooooo, sirrrrr," he said, his voice greasy and reassuring in my ears. He moved towards me, shifting in a strange way that didn't seem to move his legs at all, keeping his body a solid, unbroken shape that tapered from shoulder to to shins. This guy... I wasn't sure how trustworthy he was. As he drew closer, I caught a whif of Brimstone No. 7, which is the same cologne my grandfather wore. I trusted him instantly.
Still, It was always a healthy decision to be absolutely paranoid about every person you met, so I decided to appraise him anyways. I activated [Appraisal (but secretly infinite knowledge)], and read his status.

I let out a sigh of relief as I read his status. His faction wasn't [Demon Lord's Army]! That meant he wasn't working for the Demon Lord, and that he could be trusted. I reached into my magical fanny pack and withdrew my [Doggirl Companion] coupon, holding it up to him.
He glanced down at it with one bright-orange eye, and his smile wavered for a moment.
"Ah, very good sir," he said, looking me up and down. "A coupon, of course. Do you mind if I do something suspicious that definitely isn't using my [Lucre Locator] skill on you to determine how much money I can squeeze out of you?"
"Go ahead," I replied.
"Perfect!"
With that, he began to look me over. Suddenly, I felt an itching on the back of my neck, and the taste of candy corn filled my mouth. This sensation... this must be what it feels like when somebody is [Appraise]ing you! I smacked my lips at the taste of corn syrup and wax as I waited politely for the salesman to finish whatever it was he was currently doing.
Instantly, his eyes widened over the span of a couple seconds, and he immediately began salivating and rubbing his hands together.
"Ah, very good sir!" He said, swoocing behind me and clamping his hand in a reassuring vice grip on my shoulder. "We will get you your [Doggirl Companion], of course, but first, let's take a look at the rest of our stock, yes? I'm sure there's plenty you might be interested in!
I followed along as he led me deeper into the Thrall*Mart. I still wasn't sure if slavery was morally acceptable, but... there's no harm in looking, right?

the hero, the villain, and the profiteer
...*ahem*.... I have been on the site for a while and I have wanted to make my own piece of literature for this site so I'm going to do it here is what I will be making as my first one. Honestly the thought just popped into my head yesterday I rather enjoy several different kinds of stories on the site, so I found a way to do a little bit of each. I myself am a high-functioning autistic but that's only shows in my writing for the most part they look will be the occasional grammar mistake and missing apostrophes and periods I'm also using a speech to text feature on my computer that will occasionally slip up. Now for the synopsis of the story: your standard reincarnation seventh hero type deal but there is a little..... Slip up: parts of the person fractals creating several people;; A great-hearted hero, a savvy traveling merchant, and a sadist curious dungeon Lord. Critiques and people reading this is appreciated, I mostly just doing this for fun. And because this is somewhat important for some reason the cover art is not made by me I just got it from search engine. It also may change over time. im mostly following the dl becouse...i don't know.
