He played his old games but he had finished them all long ago. So what does he do? He takes a trip to the local game shop to browse the used titles. Browsing the old cartridges he finds one that he never heard of. Dark Ages: The Death of Magic. When a store attendant tells him that game is rumored to never have been beaten he had to have it. Occupying all his free time he finally beats the unbeatable game. What happens next he never would have guessed. He is introduced to the system. Something that has always existed but not everyone knew about. Join Dean as he is introduced to the seedy underbelly of the world. One where the myths of magic from the past read like history. Joined by his childhood friend he must survive in a world of magic hidden from everyone. A world that has remained secret through the blood of those who have discovered it. And to top it all off, his childhood friend, his best friend, isn’t even human.

Heroes Die First

It was after World War Two ended; rumors spread of people wielding amazing powers or mutating into horrifying monsters. Seventy years later, heroes and villains dominate the news and battle in the streets, discrimination drives mutants into the criminal lifestyle, and the governments of the world are struggling to handle the rapidly shifting paradigm. Maxmillian Grants, like any sixteen year old boy, wants to be a hero and he has a secret: he has the power to do it! Except, when he actually looks into the risks and the rewards he discovers that being a hero is not really worth it. Being a villain, on the other hand, certainly pays well. If you don't mind risking being sent to prison and being hunted by heroes and other villains. Max, not being an idiot, does mind both of those things. Instead of being a hero or being a villain, Max decides to take the third option, to be a vigilante! His plan? To hit the criminals in the gut and run off with their money, making the world a bit brighter at the same time by taking down the bad guys. But how long can he actually manage alone? Can he really navigate through the dangerous world of supers and capes without declaring for either heroes or villains? The Rift of Syn Doa

Every twenty-six years a rift opens, connecting the Ursei and Shirrah realms. Inside that rift, a magical ore can be found and harvested. This magical ore is capable of granting magic to any species or extraordinary abilities to crafted goods. Both realms fight fiercely over the rare substance, but war is not the only danger. The Doa Shrykes, feral monsters with a voracious taste for blood, await them inside the rift as well. This is a WIP, and subject to change, reorder, and future edits. Upon completion, there is intent to publish. Cover art will change as well. Any suggestions/recommendations, comments, rearrangements, etc. are much appreciated, since I'm trying to beat this into shape and have it be the best it can be. :D

The Eternal Vigil

The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication.
