Mikasa:"Ha!"
Din:"Don't hint at your next move by looking."
*Thud.*
Mikasa:"Ow." She rubbed the top of her head after Din brought the hilt of his Dark Saber down hard.
Din:"Alright, that's enough for today. Get up." He stuck his hand out to help her up.
Mikasa:"H-how did I do?"
Din:"Sloppy, but there's always next time."
It was a time of training during the day and Mikasa requested her father duel her again. The events that unfolded the day of his arrival still shook her to her core, afraid that he might actually ditch her one day. Din never really had that thought running through his mind but she didn't know that. Whilst traveling back, she brought up a question and with it terrible memories.
Mikasa:"Dad?"
Din:"What?"
Mikasa:"D-do you remember that day? The day when you found me?"
Din:"Of course I do..."
Mikasa:"I'm not talking about after my parents murder but...in the Underground." She asked. Din stopped dead in his tracks causing her to collide into his back.
Din:"Why do you ask?"
Mikasa:"It's just... what you said to me the day before really bothered me. I just don't see why you would risk your life to save me again when you might just abandon me one day..." Din spun around and looked down at her.
Din:"Abandon you? Why...why would I do that? Whether we're bound by blood or not, you're my child and I'm to protect and raise you to the best of my ability. Do you understand how I felt that day? I was desperate to find you before they had done any harm."
An awkward silence overtook the air around them with the only sound coming from a slight breeze. Mikasa felt the hard stare coming from behind his helmet but she refused to look at him, instead opting to look at her boots.
Laughter and chatter from afar gained the pair's attention, cadets finishing the day and returning to their barracks. Not wanting to get angry with his daughter, Din dismissed Mikasa to get cleaned up and ready for bed while he calmed himself down. Looking for a place to sit down, he looked back on that fateful day.
_________
The U
Boot spurs could be heard coming from the dark shadows of the Underground's dangerous streets. Those who heard the jingle were curious and others got a bit too curious. Loud blasts and red lights brightened up the dark and crowded spaces where a fight was taking place.

Some street dwellers watched the shadows fight one another as they all heard screams and explosions. They soon stopped fighting as a strange man appeared covered in blood. He looked at the large crowd but paid no attention to them. Instead, he made his way to the establishment that holds his precious daughter hostage.
Thug 1:"You really think it's just one guy?" He asked.
Thug 2:"Nah, I think there will be more. Can't be one man to take us down."
The two thugs stood outside the brothel for guard duty. The thought was, if the "father" came then he would be quickly routed by the two men.
Thug 1:"Yeah...guess you're right."
Thug 2:"Ha! Are you scared?"
Thug 1:"Well, we saw light come from that little piece of junk. We've never seen anything like that before, what if..."
Thug 2:"But nothin'. Boss knows what he's doin' so knock it off, will ya?"
Thug 1:"Guess you're right."
Thug 2:"Damn right." He laughed. His partner then saw the most interesting individual coming right up to them.
Thug 1:"Hey, hey! Isn't that him?" He tapped his friend and pointed to the man.
Thug 2:"Yeah, what the hell is he wearin'?"
The two were about to go up to him but he quickly shot the two in the chest.
Din holstered his weapon while walking past the two corpses and into the brothel. He caught the attention of every single individual in the room as well as unwanted attention.
Guard:"Hey! You need to leave now!" A guard yelled out.
Dozens more men showed up and started to surround him whilst the customers and prostitutes started to scurry. A rather large man started to come up from behind the group and voiced his opinion on the matter.
Kent:"Now, now, now, I'm just sure he wants to see his kid. Don't ya?" He asked.
Kent easily towered over Din and starred at his reflection from the shiny helmet. Kent was well known around the area with his broad shoulders, a distinct scar running down his left cheek, and a mark branded on his right bicep. His reputation served him well following close behind 'Kenny the Ripper'.
Kent:"Well? We will be more than willing to show her to you." He leaned close to Din's helmet.

Kent:'After she's been well used up by the dozens of customers that paid for her, that is.' He pulled away laughing along with his men.
Kent:"Get lost before I snap ya into two."
Din looked at them all through his visor, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. It arrived when Kent daringly went to reach for his head.
Kent:"What did I say!? Get lost!"
Thug:"What the!?"
Din snapped, using his flamethrower to gain some distance from the surrounding enemies. They pulled away from his attack but a few unfortunate souls caught fire.
Kent:"Get him!" He ordered.
The guards rushed him all at once but the highly experienced Mandalorian wasn't going down so easy. He pulled out his blaster, opening up on the rushing attackers. A few managed to sneak behind him and open fire with their 'slug throwers'.
Unexpectedly, a few men managed to knock him off his feet. In turn, his blaster pistol slid away from him and under a table. Thinking quick, he used his jetpack to thrust him out of the way before they could stack up on him.
__________
Upstairs of the establishment, the boss sat in his office along with a handful of guards as well as Mikasa, tied up and knocked out. He looked at the little girl every now and then and really wondered if she was worth this much to that man. They could all hear screaming, banging, and occasional shots.
__________
Din grabbed a broken leg off of a table and bashed it into the stomach of one unfortunate man. He turned around and swung it into another guards head. Dropping the wooden leg, he turned around to face his final opponent, Kent.
Kent:"Just you and me, eh? C'mon, ya bastard!" He rushed Din but to his surprise, a straight stream of fire came right at him.
Kent:"Ahh! Argh!!! Help!! Help me!!"
Din:"What was that about my daughter serving dozens of men?"
Din crouched down to Kent's burning body as he asked the question. The flames reflecting off of his helmet. Din got up and headed upstairs to confront his target.
_________
Thug:"Boss, I think they stopped fighting."
The last sounds of screaming stopped a few moments ago but they all weren't sure if the situation was resolved. That was, until they heard foot steps come from the other side of the door.
Boss:"K-Kent, is that you!? Is he dead!?" The wooden floorboards stopped creaking after his question.
Boss:"Kent!! Answer, damn it!" His question was immediately answered when the door busted open and a man came in guns blazing.
Boss:"What the!?"
The red streaks of blaster bolts flew through the room and struck the handful of guards, one-by-one. With the last man dropping to the ground, Din looked around and spotted Mikasa in the corner tied up. Being reminded of how he found her before, his anger spiked at how low a person is willing to go over a little girl.
The brothels boss peaked over his table, landing his eyes upon the man in front of him. Din reached over the table, pulled him over, and lifted him up in the air.
Boss:"Wait, wait, wait! We can talk this out! I have money, you want money!? How about girls, only the best to offer in these parts!" Attempting to bribe the man didn't work as Din showed a tiny flame come out from his gauntlet. The man's eyes widened before his face was set on fire.
His body dropped to the ground with a loud thud as the Mandalorian stood over him. He looked back to the corner and went to retrieve Mikasa. He cut her bonds as well as removing the cloth around her mouth. Just looking at her current situation made him feel like a failure. He tucked some strands of hair behind her right ear gaining a reaction from it. She took his hand and nuzzled into his warmth.
Din:"Time to go home, kid." Gently, he picked her up ready to depart.
Mikasa started to open her eyes the moment her father stepped out from the building. She started to slowly, but surely, remember where she was at. The scary things she had to experience made her tear up but that all stopped when the brothel blew up. Mikasa hid her face in his shoulder from the explosion, a reaction that Din readily expected.

Fortuna Verto
A girl’s luck changes when her world changes upon itself, sending her back and forth between a world she knows and another that shouldn’t even exist. Working with her parallel self from that other world, the two must adjust to their alternate form when visiting the other’s world, as they search for a way to escape the chains of misfortune they are bound to. While this story is the conclusion of the trilogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, as the world of Celese itself is no longer a place the characters will be journeying through. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for all previous books, in case that matters to anyone. This book has an additional chapter after the final chapter that represents the trilogy conclusion, and should not be read until all three books are read first. Fortuna Verto continues the events of Essentia Animus to advance society into a sci-fi interpretation of Celese, bringing events to a distant world of another star. At the same time, events interpret a real-world advancement into a similar sci-fi age of another planet that shares Earth’s galaxy, a planet that has also been linked by the Celesi Veil. English remains predominant in both worlds of the story, but the presence of both sides makes certain Aethyx terms stand out, while Earth-styled scientific terms will also stand in a powerful contrast. Instrumentation remains an important aspect of the Elemental Era, but the influence of the gift has grown distant after discovering the superiority of the elements. Harnessing the elements had eliminated some of the original limitations of instrumentation, allowing for a self-sustaining focal source that provides solutions to problems such as automation. This turns the development available from the previous modern-day sense of a fantasy to one that is deep-future. Finally, opening access to the passage across the veil will open this progress in comparison to a very similar deep-future parallel world without such fantasy elements, contrasting the laws of physics with the laws of elements in a convergence of time and space.
