Walton danced in the air, shaking his butt like a puppet on strings. The cringe crept through Lucy’s skin.
“Ow inna di great voodoo yuh escape, grandfather?” Tashina shouted.
Byron raised an eyebrow at her. “Grandfather?”
Tashina giggled like a rattlesnake. “It a lang story, sweetie.”
Walton/Boogaloo laughed. “Dis foolish cat knock mi off yuh desk like a drunken buffoon. Once mi taste mi freedom, mi immediately possess fi him bady an kill fi him crew. It did easy wen fi him crew get drunk inna dem celebration. Now mi wi kill yuh an kip dis ship tuh myself! HAHAHAHAHA!!!”
“What have you done with Charles!?” Lucy growled under her breath. “If you kill him-”
“HAHAHAHAHA!!! Mi did nothing! Him run away like a uhman wid har tail between har legs! Him probably swim tuh dat dark island outside.”
Lucy sighed. Her heart would be broken if she failed the quest. If Charles remains on the unknown island, she can rescue him immediately.
“But none of yuh wi si him afta mi kill you!” The former dungeon boss shouted. “An mi wi personally enjoy it!”
“Please grandfatha, yuh being ridiculous,” said Tashina. “Wi grateful yuh liberated di ship, but yuh nuh haffi kill wi.”
Walton’s glowing eyes glared. “Wah mek should mi nuh kill you?”
Tashina snarled. "Yuh fool! Mi tink wi ave a gud relationship now!"
Boogaloo laughed louder. "Di ongle relationship mi ave wid yuh being yuh slave! Once mi kill yuh mi ago bi free forever! Wah-hahahaha!"
Tashina rolled her eyes. "Looks like mi wi haffi imprison yuh again tuh teach yuh matters!" She turned to Lucy and Byron. "Distract him while mi grab sup'm."
"Killing him would be easy," Byron suggested.

Tashina giggled and rubbed her paw on his chest. "Him still mi grandfatha. Him may be stubborn, but mi cya contain him."
"How will you catch him?" Lucy asked.
A mischievous grin spread across Tashina’s muzzle. “Memba ow mi catch him laas time? Hmmmm?”
When Lucy and her friends first encountered the dungeon boss, Chief Boogaloo possessed her. To avoid hurting Lucy, Tashina challenged her grandfather to a dance-off. However, it wasn’t a normal dance-off she performed. It was an exorcist ritual that transferred Boogaloo’s spirit into a skull. If Tashina planned to use the same trick, she will have to perform the exorcist dance without Boogaloo’s notice. And she will need a new item to trap him inside.
Lucy grinned. “Please hurry.”
The hyena woman nodded and dashed off through the orlop deck.
Chief Boogaloo watched as he snarled. “A mi foolish granddaughta a chicken now? HAHAHAHAHA!”
Lucy and Byron rose from their cover. They stepped toward him with their weapons out.
“You’ll have to deal with us first if you want to know where she is going,” said Lucy, pointing her cutlass at the floating cat.
Byron’s skin turned rubbery as his muscles expanded and his body grew taller. His shark fin tail grew out behind him and his head morphed into a large shark head with razor-sharp teeth.
“Careful, I bite,” he growled with a soft chuckle.
Boogaloo shrugged. “Mi fear nuttin, but mi duh like shark meat.”
He drew a short sword, which almost looked like a kitchen knife on a hilt. When he charged in the air, Lucy and Byron spread apart.
Boogaloo came toward Lucy. She ducked from his swing and blocked his next strike.
“You know how to fight with a sword?” Lucy asked.
Boogaloo chuckled. “Mi learn from possess bodies. Dis cat knows from tuh fight gud.”

Byron charged behind Boogaloo and tackled him to the floor. He hugged the cat, but Boogaloo slid out freely from the wereshark’s arms and poked his blade at the shark’s face.
Byron HP: 90/100
While Byron crawled back, rubbing his face, Lucy charged with his blade raised. Boogaloo swung around and blocked her attack.
He pushed back as he chuckled. “Careful now, dear. Yuh cud cut sum'ady like dat.”
Lucy glared. “Isn’t that the point in a sword fight?”
Boogaloo laughed. “Nuh eff yuh willing tuh kill dis cat.”
Lucy grimaced. Tashina! You better hurry before I send your stupid grandfather to the Undersea!

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.

A brother and sister struggle to operate their independent interstellar transportation company within the confines of discriminatory laws and arrogant aristocratic enterprises. But fortune blows their way when they stumble upon a relatively ignorant human who also happens to be a fully authorized Citizen of the Empire, with all the legal rights and responsibilities associated with that status. Taking advantage of the situation, the sister proposes a deal to the citizen to try to secure their tiny company's future. But things are not what they seem and war between the noble families is reaching a breaking point within the sectors, causing mayhem, instability, and disastrous consequences for our interstellar crew on their trial run with the citizen. ** The setting is largely influenced by my experience in the transportation industry. I hope you enjoy it!
