《The Invitation》Chapter 20

So, the party was finally over. Eliza couldn't explain the overwhelming ache that spread through her body as she lay herself down on the soft coverlet of her bed.
The rush of the events of the night had tired her and drained every drop of energy that she had left.
And as her head rested on the pillow and her eyes closed, she finally felt some peace, slipping away..............
A blue sky and the stormy waves of the ocean. Eliza dreamed that she was walking down the beach, and the rain was pouring, drenching her - her hair plastered all over her face and her body shivering from the cold.
But she didn't stop walking. She just kept on going forward thinking that every step would bring her where she wanted to go, but no, the beach just kept on going forever.
Step after step, mile after mile, it never ended, but she didn't stop.
Suddenly a bright light shone, gleaming like a portal. Taking her away from here. Through it she could see her home, her family, the warm hearth of her house but most of all she could see hope and love.
Just one more step.
Just one more step and she'd be there.
Just one more - BANG!
Eliza woke with a start, there was a sound outside her window and she quickly went up to it. Through her window, she could see the beach that she'd been dreaming of, merely moments ago.
Except now it was pouring, thunder and lightning, lighting up the sky.
She was just about to return back to her bed and hopefully go back asleep when she saw a bright light. Constant and unwavering in the midst of all the chaos. It was coming from a lighthouse not far away, very close to the shore. And maybe it was just the fatigue, but she could swear that she saw a figure in the lighthouse. Moving about and when he turned, she swear that he looked right at her.
