"I'm shitting myself, Em. For the first time in my life, I'm thinking of running away from the man I love," Remy scoffed.
I glanced down at the phone that was balanced on the tap in the bathroom while I did my makeup.
Remy had FaceTimed me because right now, everybody was getting ready to leave for the church and while Remy was getting her makeup done by a professional makeup artist that she booked for herself. Mom was walking around in the background and Dad popped in to check on her once but other than that, Remy requested everyone to stay out so she wouldn't panic even more. I was going to go see her once I finished getting ready.
"Aspen's nervous too, if that helps," I mumbled, digging through my makeup bag for some glitter I remembered bringing for my eyeshadow. "Actually, he seemed more nervous than you. Especially when he got back after checking out the church."
"That doesn't help, Em. At least one of us should be confident in the wedding ceremony."
I laughed, leaning in closer to the mirror. "You both should be confident, Remy. You guys have been in love forever, you always told me you were ready and you were just waiting for him to finally want to settle down. Well, it's happening. Don't be so nervous. Aren't you excited?"
"Of course, I am, Em. Just not for the whole vows moment. Or the walking down the aisle moment. What if I fall?" she gasped.
"I'm sure Dad will catch you."
"What if I mess up my vows?"
"I'm sure it'll come naturally when you look at Aspen."
"What if... Your boyfriend's staring at you, by the way. He has been for like twenty minutes, I didn't want to say anything but the man looks hypnotized. Ugh, you guys make me sick."
I glanced at Adam in the mirror who was standing at the door, still only in his plain black v-neck and gray sweatpants. He would take much less time to get ready, so he decided to start later. "I can see him in the mirror." I turned around, facing him. "What are you doing?" I laughed.
"I'm just watching," he shrugged, leaning against the doorway.
"Why?"
"Because you look pretty."
"Ew, you guys. Ew," Remy scoffed.
Adam walked in as I spun around to face the phone, rolling my eyes at her. "Shut up, Remy," Adam laughed, putting his arms around my waist from behind. "You and Aspen acted like this your whole life. You still do," he said pointedly.
"Okay, but don't rub it in my face when I can't see him," she grumbled.
"You'll see him soon enough. To get married," I reminded her.
"And I'm nervous again, thanks," she muttered. "Anyway, I'll hang up now. I have to finish getting ready and so do you. Bye, Em. Bye, Adam."

"Bye," we replied in sync before she hung up. I left my phone on the counter just before Adam spun me around to face him again.
He tightened his hold on me, leaning in a little bit. "I want to kiss you," he whispered.
I hummed, watching him in amusement.
"I really want to kiss you," he added, leaning in.
I pulled back, getting further away from him but the more I retreated, the closer he got. "I have to get ready," I sang, watching him with a smile.
"How long do you think a kiss takes?" he asked, lifting a brow.
"I think it can take however long we want it to. And it seems like you want it to take a very long time," I laughed.
"Well, that I do. Kiss me."
"No," I chuckled. "We can't do that."
"Yes, we can. Kiss me."
"Adam—"
He sighed in frustration, putting a hand on my throat, taking me by surprise. I caught the little smirk and the glimmer of mischief in his eyes as he pulled me forward, smashing his lips on mine. My hand formed a fist around his shirt while a little hum of approval escaped me. His hand slid down to my waist and he hoisted me up, seating me on the counter. I pushed my knees apart instinctively, making space for him so he could be closer.
When we pulled away to catch a breath, his kisses moved down to my jaw, then to my neck and it took everything within me to push him away. "Okay," I sang, taking in a shaky breath and pushing him away slowly. "Getting ready here. Trying not to get distracted. You're not helping."
He pecked my lips once and then stopped, taking a step back and pulling me off.
"A great distraction," I mumbled, kissing him briefly again. "But a distraction. Let me get ready."
"Hmm."
I spun back around and he stayed with his arms around me from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder, pressing kisses every few seconds to my shoulder, my neck, the back of my neck. Adam stayed right there until I finished my makeup. I matched it to my baby blue pale dress and put some blue glitter on my eyes. I put on eyeliner, mascara, did the rest, and then zipped everything back up, leaving the makeup bag on the counter.
"Are you going to do your hair now?" he asked, twirling a strand around his finger.
"Yeah. You think you should start getting ready now?"
He hummed, pressing another kiss to my neck. "I'll change in the room, yeah?"
I nodded before he left, closing the door behind him. Since we both took turns showering earlier, we don't have to do that, and we're almost ready to go. I did my hair a bit similar to how I did it for the engagement party, pulling two braids together and pinning them to the back of my head before loosening my curls a bit. Once I was done with my hair and happy with it, I left to get my dress.

Adam was sitting on the bed, only wearing his trousers. I've noticed that he waits to wear his shirts so they don't get wrinkled when he sits before we leave.
I grabbed the dress, splaying it out on the bed when I realized taking it into the bathroom would wrinkle it. It would be easier to change in the room but Adam was right here. "I'm going to change here," I mumbled, fidgeting with my earring.
"Oh?" he smirked.
"No," I laughed. "No 'oh' it's just easier here, okay?"
"Do you want me to wait somewhere else? In the bathroom?"
I shook my head. "It's all right. I need your help tying it up anyway."
He nodded.
I avoided looking at him and slipped off my shorts first since my oversized t-shirt went down to my mid-thigh anyway. With a breath, I glanced at him and he was looking at me but he looked away when my hands went to the hem of my shirt and he stared down at his hands, his thumbs twiddling.
Adam didn't look until I said he could. After tying the corset for me, he gave a quick kiss to my shoulder, and then when I sat to put my heels on, he did that for me too since the dress made it difficult.
I gave him a quick kiss before he stood up to put his own shirt on. I watched him from where I sat on the bed until he stood in front of me with his bow tie loose around his neck.
"Help," he huffed.
I laughed, standing up. I tied the bow tie for him, adjusting it repeatedly out of the nervousness and heat that crawled up my neck upon feeling his gaze. Once I was done, I finally looked up at him. "All done," I said quietly, biting back a smile.
"I love you," he said suddenly.
I chuckled. "I love you too."

The chatter in the church died down when a soft piano began playing and I turned to look at Emma and Ava over my shoulder to make sure they were prepared. Aspen had Adam as his best man, Sebastian as a groomsman and just like that, Remy had me as her maid of honor and Emma and Ava as the bridesmaid. Remy glanced at me over her shoulder before the church doors opened. I shot her a reassuring smile and she faced forward, her arm linked with Dad's.
They walked forward slowly and I trailed behind until we reached the front where Dad sat down, Remy took her spot in front of Aspen, and I stood behind her with Emma and Ava behind me.
I think it's safe to say that Aspen tried really hard not to cry, but he did. I watched with a huge grin on my face while Remy turned, handing me her bouquet. She stepped a bit closer, taking his hands, whispering, "Don't cry. If you cry, I'm going to cry," she chuckled softly.
As a priest began the ceremony, I was given the ring box I would hand to Remy later and while we all listened in, my eyes landed on Adam.
He was already looking at me with a stupid smile on his face. His eyes traveled up and down my body even though he'd seen me get ready and even helped me but despite that, he looked like he was in such awe of me. I lifted my brows at him and he shook his head softly, mouthing, "Wow," as he stared at my dress.
I closed my eyes, grinning. If I looked at him, I would laugh and that wouldn't be good. I paid attention to Remy and Aspen as they said their vows, both of them speaking with shaky voices and teary eyes. I opened the ring box, holding it out for Remy to pluck the ring out of.
Once they exchanged rings, the priest continued, asking them if they would take each other as their husband/ wife.
My eyes got caught on Adam's as he shifted, catching my attention. "I love you," he mouthed.
"I do," Aspen said at the same time.
"I love you," I mouthed back.
Remy said, "I do," and then took a step forward, kissing him at the priest's command. Everybody cheered and clapped, including me and after breaking away, Aspen and Remy walked down the aisle together with everybody trailing behind them.
I stayed in my spot while Adam stayed in his until the entire church was empty. I stuck my hand out, wiggling my fingers. "Let's go?"
He grabbed my hand and pulled me into him, his lips colliding with mine immediately. It felt like he was waiting since the minute he saw me to do that. I smiled against his lips, stepping even closer and kissing him back, putting my arms around his neck.
"Are you getting married as well?"
We both pulled away abruptly, facing the priest who reappeared from the other entrance. I chuckled, touching my lips briefly.
"No, sir," Adam cleared his throat, laughing softly. "Not yet."
"We were just leaving," I said, nudging his ribs with my elbow. "Come on. Thank you," I smiled before tugging Adam with me. "Are you crazy?" I blushed, staring at him as we joined everyone outside the church.
"It's true. You will marry me one day," he grinned with a wink.
I rolled my eyes while grinning, looking away.
I probably will.
