《Replacement Bride》Chapter 36 - Hamid

After what happened at Abuja I never heard from Rahmat Ali again till after Amani gave birth with some months, she called and implored me to meet her at Standard Hospital.
I asked what was going on and she told me to just come, for the sake of Allah. I didn't really want to go but the fact that she mentioned Allah's name, I decided to.
When I arrived at the hospital, I found out her life was in danger. She had given birth but couldn't stop bleeding, she was bleeding heavily.
I asked where her husband was and she told me she would never forgive him for what he did to her, that he used her for ritual. Ritual? I wondered.
I didn't know exactly what she meant until she was about passing away. She gave me her baby and told me she named it Imran, and that its surname was also Ali since she couldn't let it have its father's name.
She briefed me on how she found out her husband wasn't just a politician but also a devil, she also told me whenever he gets married his wives usually die during or after childbirth.
I told her not to worry, that she would not die but she told me she was CERTAIN she would die and her husband would pay for what he did to her. After our brief conversation, she passed away.
I really thought she was pulling a prank on me when she started chanting and calling the names of Allah but just as she went silent and the doctor came to check on her, that was when I realized we had lost her.
The doctor and the nurses did all they could to bring her back but all their efforts was to no avail. The doctor told me he didn't believe in supernatural things but he suspected her death wasn't natural.

For someone to be bleeding that heavily despite all efforts...and also considering many other factors, he truly believed she was right about being killed by her husband spiritually.
But since there was no physical evidence, he said we should just forget it and think about our next step. The next step was burial.
It wasn't as if I could arrange her burial so we tried and reached out to her husband on phone. But guess what? He told us they separate some weeks ago and that the reason they separated was because he found out the baby she was carrying wasn't his.
One funny thing was that he wasn't even surprised about the death. "She's not my wife anymore," he had said and continued, "in fact she hadn't been my wife for some weeks now because I divorced her. I set her free with lots of money, so please don't ever call me again. May her soul rest in peace!" he had hanged off the call.
We tried to reach him again but the phone was off, he must have changed or disposed his sim card. Now what should I do? I wondered with tears streaming down my cheeks. I didn't even realize it until the doctor began consoling me.
I believed she was a coward and a lost girl but she didn't deserve all that. I mean, why would she end up in such a horrible way? Even though she died with the names of Allah in her lips, I wasn't still satisfied.
I quickly called Zubair and Hafiz to come and help me because I couldn't handle the situation alone. Hopefully, they came and gave me a helping hand. They were also shocked when they found out about everything.
We located the house she was staying after the divorce and discovered so many mysteries, which includes the notes she wrote – predicting her death and accusing her husband for selling her soul.

We also discovered her statements of account and her . The money given to her by her (ex) husband through his lawyer was really much, it was 248 million naira and in the will she wrote my name that I should take 40 million from it and keep the remaining ones for her child.
She'd also apologized for all the pain and anguish I went through – and would soon go through – because of her. The whole thing shocked me because it was clear she knew when she was going to die hence, she planned everything.
I used to cry over her but that day I cried more than I had ever done. Zubair and Hafiz told me to calm down, that I should focus on getting her buried than weakening myself.
After her burial I took the baby back home thinking Amani would accept it. Well, she was willing to accept it but upon hearing it was Rahmat's she told me to give it someone else. I tried to explain things to her but she refused to listen hence, I reached out to Zarah – Yazid's boss.
I told Zarah everything and she told me not to worry, that she would take the morning flight to Minna so she could take the baby from me. Actually, we were close friends. She used to be my client but now we were more than friends.
She was a widow and was a year younger than me. She once told me after her husband's death she vowed never to marry again because she wanted to be united with him in Jannah. She was a successful business woman and of Hausa descent.
When she arrived the following day, I took her to Rahmat's apartment and showed her everything that was left by Rahmat. I asked if she would be able to pack them to her house and keep them for the child but she told me to keep them myself, that when the child grows she would send him over.
We had our deal, and I begged her never to tell the child about its mother. "Treat him like you are his mother, until he's of age. I know I can count on you because you've been a very wonderful friend to me, Zarah" I had said to her.
"In Shaa Allah I will do anything for you, anything to make you happy...Hamid" she had said.
And that was it, she left and I sealed Rahmat's house before returning back to my own house. Since then I had been calling her to check on the baby. We used to make video calls almost every day until Amani began complaining that I wasn't giving our own baby attention, so I amended.
Soon later, Safiya gave birth to her own baby. Yazid was so happy that he couldn't go a minute without wearing a smile on his face. The naming ceremony took place in our house, it was a celebration galore. The baby was named Yasmin, after Yazid's mother.

BF Training Course
Story about a man who trusts and loves his girlfriend. Basic premise is that your girlfriend is leaving on a trip and wants you to take part in some mysterious course while she's gone. Figuring out what the course is about is a big part of the story. Mostly the story will be focused on dialogue and thoughts. One of my goals is for there to not be any potentially interesting conversations that are skipped past, many times I've been reading some story and hated it when some really interesting conversation is just summed up without going into enough detail.
