《Favored Empress Brings Chaos and Destruction (Book 1)》Page 61

"You are the happiest thing that happened to me... If I could choose between having a long life but never knowing you or a short but happy life with you... Even if I die painfully again and again, I will gladly do it again and again! I love you, Wife... More than my life... I want you to be always happy and safe... Sorry... I am useless... I failed you..." Zander King said before he closed his eyes and his hand limped lifelessly in Beatrix's hand!
Beatrix felt extreme fear and panic. She called the physicians just waiting outside. She cried nonstop as she waited again for news. Later, the physicians sadly informed her of her husband's passing!
She went inside again and hugged him tight but he did not hug her back like usual... She kissed him passionately but he did not kiss her back like usual... She called his name but he did not respond like usual... She said: "I love you, Husband!" but he remained silent and unresponsive to her words...
She cried loudly this time throughout the night! This is the second time that she lost a good husband but the pain is not anything less for the second time! It is still the same familiar excruciating pain of sadness, sorrow, and helplessness knowing that he departed but he is never coming back!
The death of Minister Zander King became a huge sensation in the capital! According to the investigation, he was victimized by bandits along the way to the capital. The imperial authorities are now doing their best to capture the criminals. Beatrix is not surprised by the result of the investigation. She sneered in her heart as she heard the findings...
A simple group of bandits could easily defeat my father's guards? Only an idiot will believe it!!!

She gritted her teeth when Prince Andrew visited her husband's funeral and offered sympathy and help in front of many people. She politely declined and let her grandfather, Prime Minister Aaron, and the servants entertain him instead.
If she is not worried about disrespecting her husband's funeral and besmirching her father and grandfather's face if she made a scene against the first prince of the empire, she would really love to beat him to a pulp and tell everyone that he is the murderer! He killed her admirers! He killed Prince Anders! Now, he killed another husband too! But can she do that? Of course, there is no point in doing that! Zander King would not be able to come back and she will only ruin herself and her family!
When it was Prince Anders who visited, she accepted Prince Anders' sympathy and help. They talked about Zander King the whole time. He told her about his days with Zander and how sad he is now that a sincere friend is gone.
Her grandfather, Prime Minister Aaron helped her in arranging the funeral and burial while her parents are away. She sent a letter to her parents informing them about Zander using a hawk. After two days, she received a response telling her that they are sorry for her loss and that they will come home soon but they will not be able to arrive on time for the burial due to the very far distance they are currently in.
Everything happened so fast, the funeral and the burial happened so fast. It was only a blur for Beatrix who seemed like a dead leaf during the entire process. After the burial, she received another letter from her parents saying that their return will be delayed due to unavoidable circumstances but it did not indicate what circumstances. She did not think too much about it because she understands that there is sensitive information her father cannot inform her. She is also still grieving and there is no benefit in destroying her parents' supposedly happy vacation.

She did not go outside the General's Mansion after what happened to Zander King. Her grandfather visits her usually but he is a busy man so he usually immediately leave after checking she is okay. The Emperor and Empress visited her incognito once to check on her well-being.
Prince Anders also visits her and would politely talk to her asking if she is okay. They will either play chess, paint together, do a poetry contest, talk about his method of coping when he also lost a wife or they would talk about Zander King's accomplishment. Since he is always a proper and real gentleman, Prince Anders always observes proper distance and although very reluctant, he always leaves before the sun is at the highest to avoid creating bad rumors...
Prince Andrew also visits her regularly but the servants already know the drill. They will pretend to inform their Lady Beatrix but later, they will tell him excuses why their Lady will not be able to see him like she is so sick and cannot get out of bed, she is not in the mansion and will go back after three days, she is praying and cannot be disturbed and the likes... Luckily, he would just leave and never make a fuss anymore.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
