《Maverick and Her Ways (GirlxGirl)》What I Was Thinking About

"They left." I said, "They left me all alone."
"This is going to be so much fun!" Natasha exclaimed. She was jumping up and down, while waving goodbye at my parent's vehicle as they drove away.
"How can they put so much trust on me like that all of a sudden? Oh my god, what if something bad-"
"We gotta call the whole squad right away." Natasha ignored my rants and pulled out her phone to send text messages to our friends.
"This is insane." I complained, my eyes following my parents' vehicle until they turned a corner, and was out of sight. "I will die."
"No, Mave." Nat threw an arm around my shoulder and grinned at me. She had this mischievous look on her face, and I am beyond terrified. "We're going to get lit!"
I stared at the excitement on her face, and for a second, I realized that I didn't want a party. It was too risky. My mind revolves around what if's, and I was too worried that our property would be damaged, and I would be grounded for life.
Natasha could read my mind through my expression, and she held my face in between her hands.
"Listen." She said. "You gotta live a little. Dennis and Thomas are on their way here-"
"Hold on just a second!" I cut her off, narrowing my eyes. "You didn't tell me that the party was happening tonight!"
"It's not. It is. Maybe... Well, kind of." Nat blabbered on, and laughed at my horrified face. "I just want the whole squad to be here, so we could convince you to throw a party."
"Do I have a choice though?" I asked, frowning at her. "You've already organized everything- Don't give me that look, I know everything is all planned, and all you need is my permission to use our house, which by the way, my parents already approved of..." I gave out a deep sigh.
"I'll shovel the snow out, if that helps?" She suggested, and gestured her hands on the ground. I thought about it. A foot deep of snow was covering our whole driveway, and sidewalk. I woke up early to see my parents go, and to actually shovel. So, Natasha saying that she'll do it herself made me consider my options.
I mean, the party's still gonna happen whether she shovels or not. So why not let her suffer through the cold?
"I'll go get the shovel." I announced.
"I was only kidding... But okay." She said, chuckling at me. "Are you going to help me?"
"No." I replied.
"Bitch."
I flipped her off in return, then went to our garage to get the shovel.
When I returned to, Dennis's car drove in my driveway, and loud music was blasting from it. Thomas was sitting on the front seat with him, while I noticed that Dani and Margo was sitting at the back.
I suddenly felt self-conscious because I was wearing my fur-lined, winter jacket over my pink pyjamas. My hair was a mess, and I immediately covered them with my hood. I waved a hand at them, and hid a little behind Natasha, who seemed to be making fun of me. I didn't know that they were going to come over so soon, and I mentally cursed Nat.
"Alright, alright, where's the party at?" Asked Dennis, when he approached us, a wide grin on his face.
"Is it cool if I invite people?" Asked Thomas.

"No!" I immediately told him. "No... I uh, I have rules."
"Rules?" Dani spoke up. All of them are huddled up around me and Nat, and I couldn't feel more claustrophobic. "I didn't know there were rules to party."
She was wearing a red toque, and an army-green winter jacket. She had on grey leg warmers over black leggings, and a pair of mukluk boots. I thought she looked adorable in her complete winter outfit, while I stood there gawking at her with goofy pj's.
"In my household, there is." I said, raising an eyebrow at her. I heard Margo snicker beside Dani, and she was looking at me and her back and forth.
As always, I felt intimidated by her. The way Margo carries herself was filled with so much confidence, that I thought I might just run away from her. She's just so... cool.
Her ear studs, and snakebite piercings made me feel envious because it clearly shows that she could do what she wanted, and not give a damn about what anyone else think.
I stared at her jet-black hair, styled into a classy pixie and noticed that it was covered with snow. I looked up at the sky, and sure enough, a thick wave of them was starting to fall.
I told Nat that I would help her shovel the driveway quickly. So, when the newly fallen snow occurs, it wouldn't be that deep. That way, we could safely drive our vehicles in and out. We wouldn't want to get stuck, because that would suck so bad.
"I like your pj's." Margo said randomly. "It looks cute."
I, of course, the gullible person that I am, had blushed profusely while I tug on Natasha's jacket, and refused to look at the cool girl before me.
"Am I not cute?" Dani asked, and looked quite offended.
"I don't know." Margo replied. "What do you think, Maverick?" She added a charming wink at me.
I pursed my lips at the both of them, and slowly backed away.
"Can we go inside? It's freezing out here." I said, and gestured for everyone to follow me. I heard Natasha slightly chuckle, and she hooked her arm with mine.
"So does that mean that every single one of my friends are queer?" She whispered, so only I could hear. "I kinda feel left out."
The way she said it made me burst out laughing to the point where there were tears streaming down my eyes. Natasha scoffed at me, and wiped the tears away with her thumbs.
"But I'm right, right?" She asked.
"It's okay Natasha, I still love you." I told her, chuckling as I unzip my winter jacket to hang in the closet. "You've got nothing to worry about."
When I turned around, Dani was staring at me intently. I couldn't read her face, and it was kind of worrying.
"Want me to hang your jacket?" I suggested, and offered a hand.
"Oh, uh yeah. Thanks." She said, and took off her jacket and toque off. Her hair was filled with static, so it looked kinda crazy. But my bed hair was crazier, and I couldn't help but giggle a little. I almost extended my arm fully to fix her hair, but Margo appeared in the hallway and announced,
"This is what we call, the just-fucked look." Then she gestured towards me and Dani.
"Margo!" Dani exclaimed, blushing as hard as I am.
"Just sayin'." Was all Margo said and stood beside me.

Natasha had her eyes narrowed, like what she just heard was such a scandalous act. Her jaw hanging low as she stared at Margo. Then, Margo simply approached Nat, and cupped her chin with her hand, and carefully shut it close.
"Careful sweetie, my lips might just catch your mouth hanging ope-"
"Oh my god, Margo stop it!" Dani hissed, and glaring at her.
"Shit, sorry if I'm acting so weird." Margo laughed, her hands up in the air in surrender. "Dennis and Thomas gave me two bottles of Smirnoff Ice, and I think I'm a little tipsy."
"Wait, what?" I asked, and looked at her seriously.
"We bought a bunch of alcohol." Dennis appeared by the doorway with Thomas, and both were carrying two boxes of alcoholic beverages. "Margo was the only legal person, out of all of us to buy them, sooo~"
"And you guys let her drink, this early?" I asked, feeling quite amused.
"We were trying out how to mix vanilla vodka, and strawberry vodka together to have that cool marbling effect between white and red." Thomas said, and grinned. "Margo wanted to try it, so she drank about two bottles... each."
"Well then." I told Margo. "Let me get you some water and food to sober you up." I led them towards our kitchen, and quickly showed directions where the washrooms, trash bins, and rooms are, etc. just for the sake of a lazy house tour.
"Thanks, you're so nice." Margo said when I started to make a turkey sandwich for her. "Isn't she nice? Why are you so nice?"
"Maverick is naturally kind to everyone." Dani said from behind me, and swiftly moved beside me to make her own sandwich on the counter. "The only problem is that, she's too nice."
"I like it." Margo smirked.
Dani stared at me, and our eye contact lingered for far too long.
"Me too." She said softly.
I didn't know what to say. Two girls complimenting me at once was starting to give me anxiety.
"Is this how girls flirt with other girls?" Natasha asked, leaning over the other side of the counter, and giving out plates.
"There's more to it." Margo replied. "I can show you, if you want."
"Oh my, look at you." Natasha said, her voice changing into something unfamiliar. "I bet all the girls swoon with that line, huh?"
"I wouldn't say that." Margo replied, now grinning at Natasha. "I'd say, everyone can woo, and swoon another person if they have mutual attraction." Then, Margo opened a jar of pickles, her eye contact with Nat wouldn't waver. "Would you like some of my pickles on your sandwich?"
There was a sexual innuendo in what Margo just said, and everyone knew it. Natasha kept the eye staring contest with Margo going, then ended it when she burst out laughing.
"I can't- Oh my god this is too gay for me to handle!" She said, her face turning bright red. "But hey, you're good."
"Why, thank you." Margo grinned.
I kept my head low, but could feel Dani's presence beside me. It made me feel hot, and for some reason I wanted to distance myself from her, but couldn't seem to do so.
I was making sandwiches for everyone, and she was helping me. The way her hand would brush with mine made me drop a slice of bread, and I told myself to keep it cool. I could feel the tension between us, and I couldn't help but think about our little moment in the computer lab the other day.
Margo, Natasha, Dennis, and Thomas was having a conversation about organizing the drinking games later, while I chop tomatoes, and thinking about kissing Dani on the lips.
And when I thought about it, I had clumsily cut my index finger. I didn't even yelp, or react. It didn't hurt, and all I did was stare at my bleeding finger. Everyone else was busy talking about how to keep people away from our bedrooms during the party later, but Dani was the only one that noticed that I cut myself.
She took my hand in hers, and examined it.
"Where's your first aide kit?" She asked, her voice low.
"In the bathroom." I answered, just as low.
She elevated my cut hand, and another hand on my back as we walk towards the bathroom. My heart pounded so hard when Dani closed to door behind us, that I thought that she could hear it.
Next thing I knew, I was sitting on a closed toilet seat, and Dani was rubbing an alcohol-cloth on my wound. It was about an inch in length, and when Dani pressed on it, it made me wince.
"Sorry." She said, sighing and holding my hand closer to her.
She was towering before me, and I was looking up to her. Then, Dani sat on the edge of the bathtub to be on my level while putting on Polysporin ointment on my cut.
"You should be more careful, you know." She said, while telling me to hold a square bandage cloth on my cut with my other hand while she prepared a short dressing to cover it up.
"I know."
"You blanked out completely." She said. "It's like you weren't even there."
"Yeah, I know."
"You could've seriously harmed yourself." She said, her voice strict and stern. "Then you just stared at your hand, doing nothing. What were you thinking?"
While Dani covered up my cut, I could tell that she was upset. A concerned frown was plastered across her face, and I gave her a small smile.
"Honestly? I was thinking about..."
Why can't I say it? Why can't I just admit it? She's right here, alone with me, and I know I have the right opportunity, but goddamn I can be so stupid sometimes.
Maybe because of the way she stared at me. It made my breath hitch, like she's taking them all away.
Maybe because she had leaned closer, and her light brown eyes were so mesmerizing that I couldn't look away.
Or maybe because she had cupped my cheek again, and it was the same thing she did in the computer lab the other day.
And then I realized that Dani was going to kiss me.
So when she did, all of my repressed feelings came rushing out as I pull her closer to me, hands running through her hair, and my back pressed against the toilet. Her lips were hot, and burning as it brush against mine.
She tasted like mint, and I love mint, so I guess you could say that I'm enjoying our kiss right now.
It was exciting, and it was very new for me, but at the same time it felt like it was meant to be. But when Dani gripped my waist, and her lips kissing her way sideways, on my cheek, and just below my ear, I wondered why she had stopped.
Her breathing was hard as mine, and when she whispered,
"You weren't the only one who's thinking about kissing."
I couldn't help but kiss her again.
