It's been three days since the death of our Alpha and pregnant Luna. The pack has been out of work and school since the disaster. Everyone in my house as been silent. The funeral was yesterday...it was lovely and beautiful but one of the most painful days of my life. No one has decided who will be the next alpha. Fay still doesn't know the cause of death but is working hard to figure it out.

After the meeting the council met again and discussed if they would pick the next in line or choose a different member of the pack completely. As for now we are all just trying to stay as normal as possible.

All I know is I have to run. I've been cooped up in this house because everyone, like me, wants to run off there pain. But my parents, as always, have made sure I stay in the house, even though they hardly pay attention to me they have their ways. Last night my parents helped clean out alphas house and they found his will. I'm not sure what it says but the council met up last night again, after the will was discovered everything is changed.

I step quietly out of the house, it's early, hardly 8 and my father's out meeting with the council and my moms still in bed...she almost didn't make it to the funeral. I'll go deep in the woods, like I usually do, hopefully no one will bother running today until later. I close the door behind me, carrying a change of clothes to replace the stash I already have hidden in a tree out there.

I turn from the door and bump into someone, gasping quietly. When I turn to the person, who feels like a wall, I'm met with Logan's calm brown eyes "hey" he says looking down on me and I smile wearily

"Hey" I say softly

"What are you doing up so early?" He asks running his tan hand through his spiked dirty blonde hair, I'm surprised at his new hair style usually it rests on his forehead

"I could say the same to you, what are you doing here?" I ask hoping he won't ask if I'm about to go for a run

"I came to see you, I've got to tell you something...-" He looks me over "are you about to go for a run?" He asks

I grimace at the question "um....yeah"

He smirks "I won't even ask to come, even though I'd love to" his eyes turn a shade darker "anyways I came here to tell you I might be the next Alpha" he stands taller as he finishes his sentence while I stand in shock

"What? Why?" I ask and his eyebrows furrow

"I have alpha blood in me, it would only be natural when I turn 18....Lucian didn't have an heir and only has a Sister, your Mother, who has two female Daughters" he explains but I'm still shocked "even though your dad is second in command the council voted against it..." I know that didn't make my Father happy

"What about his will?" I ask, would Lucian want Logan to be the next alpha? Did he write something in on who would take over if this happened?

"The council is going over it now, my dad said they probably won't be anything in it" he says but all I can do is nod

"Wow....I don't know what to say" I tell him moving a silver strand from my face, my feet moving side to side as I get antsy...I really want to run.

"You'll have something to say in the next couple of days" he tells me but my eyebrows pull to together and I tilt my head, the strand of hair I pushed back falling back in my face

"What..-?" I'm cut off my the pack horn

It echoes off the forrest trees and me and Logan's eyes turn to the stage where my Father, his Father, and the rest of the council all walk up on. Slowly everyone comes out of there houses, most yawning and still in there pjs...most of the boys only wearing boxers, excluding Logan who's in shorts and a T-shirt.

"What's happening?" I ask looking up at him as everyone makes there way over to the stage

I quickly step over and put my change of clothes in a bush by my house, knowing I can't let my family see. If they had it there way I would never be in wolf form "I don't know but let's go" he grabs my arm and starts to drag me, but I pull it away

"Logan I can walk without being pulled" I tell him raising an eyebrow

"Right sorry" he shakes his head and starts to walk, I follow him to the crowd

I look back at my house to see Victoria walking out in her pink robe, I wince knowing I'd never let the whole pack see me in something so revealing. My Mother trails behind her wearing a long furry black robe, her blonde hair is pulled up in a messy ponytail. If I could make her feel better I would but she doesn't care about what I have to say.

I turn forward to see Logan's Father stepping up to the mic. He has a solum face, turned down green eyes, hair a light brown with a middle part and long, hanging over his ears. I feel someone tap me and I turn around to see Scarlet. She smiles softly, her blue eyes looking over me "hey, how are you?" She asks and I shrug

"I'm alright" I nod

She frowns "I know how it feels so tell me if you need anything" she says and I nod, thanking her

Her Mother passed away when she was seven and ever since then it's just been her and her dad. He's not a horrible parents just very protective, he hardly ever leaves the house and keeps to himself. It's hard to come back from loosing your soulmate. "what do you think this is about?" I ask both of them but they shrug

"Attention everyone" Logan's Father, Abel, says into the microphone and everyone in the vast crowd turns to him "as you know our fallen and beloved alpha did leave a will that was discovered last night" he says and everyone frowns "the council had been discussing who our new alpha will be-" I notice Logan stands taller and he smirks down at me, I quickly look away "it was discovered that our Alpha met with a neighbouring packs alpha, the eclipse moon pack-" Abel pauses "there was a contract discovered in the will that bequeathed that there alphas son would be our next alpha if this ever happened"

The whole pack gasp and whispers erupt throughout the crowd "are you serious!" Scar says and turns to me "a completely new male? I suspected they would just pick someone in our pack" she says, blue eyes wide as she runs a hand through her brown curled bangs beside her face

I don't respond I just turn to Logan who's shoulders are slumped, I look up to Abel to see him frowning at his son. Logan hisses and walks off through the crowd, I try to reach after him but he's swallowed by the pack "where's he going?" Scar asks

I sigh "I don't know"

"Silence everyone" my father's voice booms and Abel nods in thanks at him

"We will welcome our new Alpha with welcomed arms-" he pauses "...he'll be here by two this afternoon" he says and looks away

Everyone gasps again and I hear echoes of the time he'll be arriving "that is all, you may be dismissed" my Father says and the warriors of the pack bow while the rest of us nod

I turn to leave and see my mom and Sister staring at me...for some reason they blame me for the deaths...they think I should have been quicker to get help. I sigh and look away from there glares "hey Scar can I come over to your house?" I ask still feeling there stares dig into my back

"Sure sure" she nods and smiles sympathetically, she grabs my hand and starts to lead me to her house

Four hours later and she's managed to distract me from the hectic week we've had. We watched a little TV and she's told me the latest gossip of the pack.

"Did you hear about Lilly Morrison she just found her mate" she tells me

"Oh my Gosh, for real? How?" I ask her

"They went out of town to visit family in another pack, now they're moving there" she informs me

"Wow good for them" I say

"Ugh, I want to find my mate, I mean seriously I turned eighteen three months ago and nothing" she frails her arms up and frowns

"He'll come don't worry" I insure her, I think about my up coming birthday and my heart speeds thinking about who my mate will be

"Anyways what do you think the new alpha will be like?" She asks as I stay seated leaned against her bed on the ground while she lay's on her stomach flipping through a magazine.

"I don't know, I didn't even know the Alpha of the eclipse moon had a son" I tell her honestly, I stand and sit at the bottom of her twin bed, yellow flowers decorate the bedspread and are painted on the wall, art from her Mother.

"Well I've heard plenty" she smirks up at me with a glint in her blue orbs

"How? You only found out he was coming a few hours ago?" I tell her but she just laughs

"Please" she waves me off "you know I've linked with the pack" she says and I nod, once you turn eighteen you can mind link with the rest of the pack. If you get permission you can link sooner, Victoria and her posey linked early. "how else do you think I get the gossip" she laughs and I smile softly and shake my head

It's silent for a moment and I look over to her "is there-....do you hear anything about me?" I ask quietly

She looks away "it doesn't matter what they say...you know I block out most of there bullshit anyways" she tell me and I nod, feeling my heart sink as a quiet pause passes

I shake it off "Well spill, what's he like?" I change the subject

She sits up straight and takes a deep breath, pulling up her brown waves as she gets down to business "well he's pretty young, 21, he has an older Brother who will take over the pack when his Father steps down. His Father has been searching for packs that will take him as their next alpha so the packs can form an alliance. Our packs were already allies, and he has been shooting for smaller packs but he reached out to Lucian when he still had no heir. They had the meeting six months ago and May wasn't pregnant yet so he signed him off. Of course when Maddox's-"

"Maddox?" I ask, intrigued by this name

"That's the new alphas name" she says and I nod liking the way it feels on my tongue "anyways when Maddox's Father, Alpha James is his name, found out about the pregnancy and heir he looked into more packs...but none signed a contract and now that this has happened...he's our new alpha" she says and I nod with a frown "but I heard he's eye candy, oooh and also like super tough and mysterious, he's supposedly the best warrior in all the surrounding packs" she ogles and I smile "he's bringing his good friend, as his second in command, and his friends mate" she informs me

I raise my eyebrows "How do people even find this stuff out?" I laugh lightly, surprised at how much information the wolves in our pack already know

"I don't know but I'm actually nervous to meet him, if he's anything like they say you should be too" she says and lays back with the magazine

"Why should I?" I ask, her eyes look over the magazine

"I don't know...big men like him...you know they don't want-"

"What? Wink links?" I finish her sentence, sitting up taller with creased eyebrows and my lips pulled in a thin line

"No that's not what I meant, I just mean-you're just sit fragile?! I don't know Eve" she shakes her head "you know I have no filter" she complains but I shake my head

Before I can explode and defend myself I feel a vibration in my pocket and dig it out, turning away from her apologetic face "hello?" I ask

"Get your ass over here now! The alpha will be here soon and you have yet to get ready!" I hear my mothers voice boom

"I'm sorry, I'll be over there soon" I tell her and hang up "I've got to go" I tell Scarlet

She frowns "I'm sorry, you know I don't mean half the things I say" she says and I nod

"Yeah...I'll see you at the ceremony" I tell her and walk out without another word

Before I reach the front door I pass by the living room where Scars Father sits in a rocking chair. His blue eyes like his daughters turn up to me "bye Mr. Odan" I wave and he smiles a small smile

"Bye Eve" he says

"Will I see you at the Alphas ceremony?" I ask and he shrugs, I knew he won't be. Ever since Scarlets mom died he only ever leaves to run. But I ask anyways.

"We'll see" he says softly and I smile, sympathetically
