《Consequences [BxB] (Edited)》Chapter 7

Hunter POV
"Focus on your target, find his weak spot, and attack him there. Use that weakness to take him down".
My father's voice filled the training grounds as we faced our opponents, each desperate to attack. There was no room for mercy when it came to facing someone on the opposite side. When we faced each other, we weren't friends. We were warriors.
Henry and I moved around in a circle motion, watching each other closely. Looking for that spot that would bring him down. Involuntarily my eyes drifted to his thin, lanky body that was being pinned down by Jake as he laughed and kicked his feet calling for mercy.
Really? Was he going to ask the Rouges for mercy too?
I looked at him and wondered just how in Goddess' name was he ever going to be a second leader to our pack when he was so weak in every sense of the word. He couldn't even get through the damn training without being pinned down. Henry took this opportunity and lunged at me, catching me off guard as he tackled me on the floor pinning him beneath me as he growled. His canines just centimeters from ripping my throat out. I hissed as I scrapped my elbow on the ground, and shot him a deathly glare.
"You shouldn't get distracted so easily..Alpha" he smirked and helped me up. Glancing to where Jake was laughing with Drew before he turned to look at me again, his smirk widening.
"Oh fuck you! I was not distracted !"
"Sure sure you weren't. We'll call it a momentarily lapse of judgment shall we?" He answered, his smirk never leaving his sweating face.
I shoved him aside and growled slightly as I wiped my palm across my face breathing unevenly. We stood up and walked to the center where my father was standing, all the other warriors gathering around him after the long day of training.
"Okay everyone, this was a god training session. We'll have one last round between our future Alpha and Beta, then we'll call it day." My father yelled turning his gaze toward me.
Oh this is going to be exciting...
_______________
Drew POV
I gulped when I heard Alpha Malcom's words.
Training was the most important part of any werewolf's day. I t was a time to show off your worthiness in front of the Alpha. That is of course if your body was oozing muscles and power, unlike mine that looked like it was about to break at any second. If it were up to me, I would have been at home deep under a blanket reading a book, not here getting my ass handed to me in front of everyone.

"Where is Drew?" I heard him say.
Everyone started looking around for me. Their heads turning as they looked for my thin frame that looked like sticks next to them. I sighed and slowly but surely, came out from behind Jake's back where I had been hiding in hopes that he give up and send us all home.
"You don't have to do this if you want to" Jake said softly, his eyes displaying the pity he had for me.
"You and I both know that it's not up to me" I gave him a smile, that read 'I was okay yet scared shitless' at the same time and walked to the middle. I knew without a doubt that if I had to say I wasn't fine, Jake would for me in my place and I couldn't do that to him.
I gulped when I saw him standing in front of me with his deep blue eyes glued to me. He looked at me up and down, slowly as if he was looking at his prey before he turned his eyes to his father who had been standing in front of us. I looked around at everyone else who had walked away to form a circle around us, watching intently.
"Okay you two.. ready?"
We both nodded and got in to a fighting stance. Well him mostly, since I already knew he was going to kick my ass and didn't even bother to prepare myself. I had been on the receiving end of his blows before and knew them all to well and braced myself for the familiar pain.
He still looked into my eyes as he circled me, and it was in that very moment that I saw something change in them. Almost like all the life had been drawn out and replaced with nothing but hatred and anger. I knew those eyes all to well and when they turned red, a growl passing his lips..
In that moment , I knew I was now screwed.
In the blink of an eye, he lunged forward and had me pinned on the ground. My head hit the ground with a loud thud, making everyone gasp while I looked up at him with my eyes widened while his red ones looked down at me.
What else were they expecting?
He looked at me, laying underneath him as he pinned me down, the pain my head throbbing as I struggled to hold my tears in at the pain. He narrowed his eyes at me as he sniffed me, something about to pass his but was cut off by Jake.

"Shit! He's head's bleeding"
I didn't even hear what was happening around me, as I locked eyes with him, as he pinned me down. His gaze staring holes into me as he kept me in place beneath him. Jake pushed Hunter off me without a second thought and picked me up carrying me in the direction of the pack doctor, all the while those eyes never left mine.
Jake laid me on the bed and put a cloth to my head as he waited for Jeremy to come. I raised my finger to feel where the blood was coming from , and widened my eyes when I saw the red on the tip of my finger.
I didn't even feel it. Not with the way he was looking at me.
I was so much in a trance, just looking into those eyes void of any mercy that I didn't even feel my head being split open. Jeremy came in, in the midst of my dilemma and bandaged my head and applied solution to the tiny cuts on my legs and arms.
"The one time you get to stand up and beat the shit out of that asshat, and you end up almost dead" Jake laughed and sat on the chair.
"It's not funny. I could have really died. " I said as I glared at him which only made him laugh even more at me. I was so busy glaring at him that I didn't even seeing someone standing by the door. When I heard his low growl, I looked up and locked eyes with those deep blue ones. He walked inside and looked at Jake.
"Get out" Was all he said earning him a raised eyebrow from Jake. Almost as if he was asking something so stupid.
"I get you're Alpha and what not, but I'm not about to leave my little bro with your murdering ass. You saw what you did out there, so you can't exactly blame me for not trusting you" he said and crossed his hands over his chest and stood up, towering over Hunter by a few inches.
"I just want to talk" Hunter said replied through his gritted teeth.
"Well that's a first, so talk" Jake answered and sat down on the chair, glaring at him.
"It's okay Jake, if he anything happens, I'll scream for you" I said smiling to Jake and ignoring the look I got from Hunter.
"I'll be outside, just you try anything" he said pointing to Hunter who rolled his eyes at him.
As soon as Jake left, I felt the heaviness descend and fill the room. Like all the life had been sucked out and left a cold empty pit behind. I wasn't really serious when I said I'd scream for Jake, I'd probably just lay here and let him beat me up like he always did. I kept my gaze down, so afraid that if I looked at him, it'd make him angry. I could sense him coming closer to me until he was right at my bed side. He raised his hand and cupped my chin, which made me flinch and close my eyes even tighter. He turned my head while he kept a firm hold my chin to the left and right, looking at my wounds. His eyes narrowing at the slight cuts on my face where I had scraped myself when I fell on the ground.
"It's not very deep." he said still holding my chin. I gulped slowly, not knowing what to say as he squeezed my chin slightly making me wince. It had been the first time he actually looked at me and touched me in a way that didn't result in a beating.
"Look at me.." he said. I opened my eyes almost immediately obeying him, and I saw all the anger he held for me in them, swirling around in his orbs.
"Why are you so weak?" He said as his grip tightened making me wince.
"I..I..I dd.."
"Speak up! I'm not going to hurt you! Why do you make me hurt you!" He said a bit too loudly making me wince and yelp.
"I don't know.. I don't mean to be." I said looking down at my hands.
I felt like he was about to say something else but got cut off yet again when Jake came barging into the room saying those words that broke all the courage I was trying to muster in order not to cry.
" Drew! Elliot's leaving now!"

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. Ruins of Dalághast
I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but I'd always been torn between different projects. That's why I decided to dedicate myself to a pretty strict schedule of writing and editing a single chapter every month since the start of 2019. This is an ongoing, work in progress novel that follows a ragtag group of sellswords as they delve into a lost city on the edge of the known world in search of their fortunes. Within, though, they find much more than they ever expected and find themselves in a race against time to unravel a mystery centuries old.
