《Alpha Grayson》Chapter 16

I can feel someone staring at me; I turn my head back to look at the man standing in my cell and feel sick at who I see in-front of me
"D-d-ad?" I stutter, suddenly at a loss for words.
I stare at my father in front of me wondering what the hell he's doing here. From the rare look of anger and frustration displayed across his face, I know. I just know.
I know that he's not the man that I thought he was, that my entire life has been a life but regardless a small part of me doesn't want to believe it.
"Daddy, what are you doing here?" I ask with desperation evidence in my voice.
He gives me a hard, cold look.
"The real question is what are YOU doing here. You shouldn't have gotten yourself involved Ayanna. I won't hesitate to hurt you if I must; you brought this on to yourself." He says.
I see that he has more to say but regardless he carries on resisting by squeezing his hands in a tight fist and staring at the ground, he looks angry – mad.
I stumble, trying to stand up. The chains are tight against my ankle and with each movement it tightens to the point where I feel blood start to drip down on my foot. Once standing I approach my father as best as I can. I needed answers so I chose to provoke him further.
"I brought what on to myself dad? What did I ever do to deserve any of this? Why are you here? Where's mum? Luke? Is he really at grandmas. What have you done? Why are you here? Answer me!" I scream into his face.
That did it.
"Your mother and brother are fine. I told your mother that I had to come back here for a few days. That I had other business to attend to." He exclaims, putting dumb, air quotation marks around the word 'businesses' like you see young kids doing now a days with their friends. He starts snickering and takes a few steps forward.

We're now at arm's length from each other. He looks down at me with unrecognisable eyes. Regardless of theory this man standing in front of me isn't my dad, he can't be.
"I've been working with the supernatural world for a while now; I have a plan to eliminate those of higher ranks to be able to rule over all. I plan on diminishing mankind, increase taxes, remove benefits – all I all just make a hell on earth. People will suffer and your friends - the werewolves will suffer more. Can you imagine that my dear Ayanna. Having those freaking animals living, breathing among us, with me, your daddy, the ruler of them all."
I didn't know what to say but it didn't matter, he wasn't done speaking.
"Humans are weak. Forget the presidents, forget the chancellors, and forget the prime ministers. Their power is nothing compared to the power of the leaders in the supernatural world. I knew that I had to eliminate these people to be able to gain power over the rest. I teamed up with that dumb fool Leon in hopes that he would lead me to Grayson, it's like killing two birds with one stone- fucking fantastic!" He exclaims clapping his hand together in delight.
"And low and behold, surprise, surprise he did. Ahh Grayson. Ring a bell, Sweetie?" He says.
I attempt to pounce at him but before I'm able to get my claws on him the security guard standing close by pulls me back and throws me against the wall.
That's when I come back to reality and realise that were not even alone. I see Jared and Jade staring at me in shock and disbelief at everything my father just announced.
"I'm abolishing packs one by one as we speak. Killing the uncooperative and locking up the rest in cells until all the pack leaders in the world have been eliminated. Shouldn't take too long, I have men working for me across the globe."

He turns around and begins to walk out of the cell but before the guard locks it he turns back around and utters words I've been dreading to hear since I arrived here.
"Oh and Ayanna, I'm so sorry for your loss. Grayson really was loyal to his pack members, but it just wasn't enough. He couldn't save them, he couldn't save you...he couldn't even save himself."
With that the guard locks the cell and they both leave.
I curl up into a tight ball on the ground as my tears begin to mix with the puddles on the concrete floor.
I feel alone and rejected.
Why is this happening to me?

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
