《The Vampire's Pet》Ch 9: Gown

Calla POV
~~~
Kaden is an asshat.
Lord or prince or whatever he is I don't care. Hes an asshat.
Walking into my room and telling me that I should be thankful that things were good for me that I had nothing to complain about.
Im a human pet and future snack of a vampire. I think that's a lot to complain about!
Sneering I stormed into the dining room, freezing the moment I notice the black haired woman sitting next to Kadens usual chair. Red eyes flashed with hatred ones they landed on me, "oh its you. where is your master pet girl?"
I huffed and ignored her, flopping into my seat across from where Kaden sat, I picked it because it was the furthest away and wouldn't move even if it meant my death.
She pursed her lips and glared, opening her mouth to speak when Kaden walked in. Running a hand through his perfectly gelled hair he glanced between the two of us and sighed, "hello ladies."
I rose a brow but ignored him.
Angelica smiled and cooed him over to her, batting her lashes and giggling at nothing before starting a lengthy chat about some vampire I haven't ever heard of.
I ate breakfast in uncomfortable silence, staring at my plate and gritting my teeth at every shrill laugh.
Kaden stopped me before I was able to leave the dining room, "Pet."
I look up at him, a frown marring my face, "yes Lord Dawson?"
His lip twitched downwards at the formal name, glancing at Angelica he ran a hand through his hair again, "It has been brought to my attention that you ignored one of my guests...again."
I froze as a slow smile made its way onto Angelica's face, "She was very rude Kaden. I don't mean to be rude but perhaps you are to lenient with her, you spoil her so. Perhaps she could use some punishment?"
Kaden went stiff, his eyes flashing with anger, "Angelica it is not your place to tell me what to do with my pet, spoiling her is my choice and so will be the decision if punishment necessary or not."
Angelica offered what I guessed what was supposed to be a kind, soothing smile, "My apologies Kaden I just worry she takes advantage of your generosity. She has such nice things and yet she is so rude, its like she doesn't even understand how fortunate she is."
Kaden looked her over for a second before glancing at me, "and what would you suggest I do Angelica?"
Her smile turned catlike, "I would suggest you actually take the time to punish her a few good lashes couldn't hurt."
I stiffened remembering the beatings I would receive in the pet shop. I instantly tried to decipher the best route from the room if Kaden decided she was right.
"No. Calla has had enough rough treatment in her life and she has been good since arriving her, better than what I had expected from what the pet shop had informed me of. I do not wish to mark my pet with ugly red marks and scars."
"...Then how about taking away a privilege? You give her so much Kaden, shoes, jewels, makeup, and everything she desires. Show her that although you treat her well, she cannot become spoilt ."
He seemed to consider this, swirling his glass around, " what do you suggest I take?"
Angelica's eyes lit up, "the gown for the ball. Its so much more than any other pet that is fortunate enough to be there will have, shes lucky enough to be able to attend much less get a custom gown."
I felt my heart sink, that stupid dress was the one thing I actually wanted and I was thankful for it, even in a drawing it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I looked over to Kaden who seemed to be seriously considering what Angelica had said, All I did was ignore her. That's not even bad!
Finally he set down his glass, "no."
Angelica and I looked at him wide eyed. The vampiric woman sputtered, "why not?"
He rose a brow at her, "Because I am not to be used for your own personal agenda Angelica and frankly I don't give a damn about what other men do. They could bring their pets naked for all I care, Calla is my pet and I'll be damned if she looks anything below perfection, I like my pet with some class."
Angelica's lips formed a thin line but she said nothing more, Kadens tone wouldn't allow for any argument.
Kaden POV
I watched Calla Being slowly Wrapped in the Gauzy fabric, pins being placed her and there as the dress maker handed me several different bead and metallic fabric samples in blue. She was very keen on making my pets eyes stand out and I had no problem with her choice.
It was just the beginning of the dress making process and Calla already seemed like she was floating on a cloud, I don't thing she realized it but she hadn't stopped smiling since she got her first glimpse at the fabrics.
I don't know why I did it but I snapped a photo of her on my phone when she wasn't looking, capturing her grin half covered by her long, light blonde, hair.
She looked at me, her smile slipping a bit before building right back up, "Whats the ball going to be like Lord Dawson?"
I nearly frowned at her, I had gotten used to her smooth voice speaking my first name it was becoming irritating hearing anything but. "It will be grand that I can assure you of pet, You will get to dance and drink and eat exotic foods you have never even heard of before."
Her smile widened impossibly further, "really?"
I was tempted to smile back, "yes little flower."
She nodded, wide eyed, "how many guests will be there?"
"well over 100."
She looked surprised for moment before nodding and asking the seamstress something about the fabric and if it would tear easily.
Apparently she was highly concerned about her dress being ruined.
I don't know why, If it was ruined I would just buy her a new gown, it isn't a big deal.
I watched as my chosen fabric was layered over key areas on her dress, pined, and beading was planned out. The dress hadn't even been sewn yet and she was already stunning. A knock on the door dragged my eyes away from the gorgeous human, "you may enter."
Angelica walked in and frowned once she spotted my pet whose hair was being pinned up by the dressmaker who has clearly become very fond of Calla.
At least I knew the woman would be happy to create a gown for Calla again.
Slowly, Angelica's frown deepened and the rooms mood sank with it, so did Calla's beautiful grin.
Angelica flipped her long black hair, "Kaden darling! its time for my appointment."
I checked my watch, sure enough it was Angelica's turn with the dressmaker. I looked to the french woman "Abella, please take your time getting Calla out of her gown there is no rush, pet, we will have tea once your unwrapped."
The french woman nodded and fluttered around Calla carefully while Angelica pouted, "your not staying with me Kaden?"
"No. I am a busy man Angelica, I don't have time to spend watching the construction of gowns all day, I must get back to work after my tea with my pet."
I whisked Calla from the room before Angelica could complain.
