《SINNER - Klaus Mikaelson》TWO

deline slung the doors of the Salvatore house open and walked inside. The sound of the door slamming against the wall behind it brought both the brothers into the foyer along with Elena and Bonnie who were waiting inside as well.
"Christ Addy!" Damon scolded. "We thought you were Klaus—or maybe even Elijah. Did Elena here tell you she undaggered the old guy?" he scoffed, glaring over at Elena clearly unhappy about her choice.
"She didn't have to tell me." Adeline huffed. "Elijah told me himself." She stepped further into the house and closed the door behind her. Everyone's eyes went wide and were staring at her with confusion.
"Elijah came and saw you?" Elena questioned.
"Why would he do that?" Stefan worried, taking a step in Adeline's direction. Stefan was good friend to Addy, they had grown close through the escapades of trying to save Elena.
"He wanted me to deliver a message to all of you." She sighed. "If you cross him or break the deal Elena made... he will turn me and use me as the vampire sacrifice in Klaus's stupid ritual."
The jaws around the room dropped, everyone equally as shocked and worried. They knew this would put a halt to any schemes they were trying to cook up. Adeline knew the Salvatore brothers; she knew they were going to try something. It was not there style not to.
"Addy—I'm so sorry." Elena pleaded, walking to the blonde girl, and embracing her in a hug. Adeline shrugged and wrapped her arms around her long-time friend.
"This is not going to happen. I will not let her die." Bonnie interjected.
"Neither will we Bon Bon." Damon announced, eyeing the witch. "We will just have to get her out of town."
"There isn't a place we could take her that Elijah wouldn't find her." Stefan pointed out.
He was right, Elijah had eyes and ears everywhere as did Klaus. People were informing them of every move the group made, trying to stay on the good side of the original brothers.
"So, what we just stop trying to save Elena?" Damon inquired. "Great plan brother."
"No." Adeline blurted. "We will find a way to save her and if I die in process, then so be it."
"No way Addy" Bonnie shouted.
"Not happening." Elena agreed with the witch.
This was what Elijah was talking about, Adeline was selfless, and she always had been. Sure, Elena offered up her life for her friends but deep down, she didn't mean it because she knew the Salvatore brothers would find a way, a loophole, they always had. But Addy, she meant it with everything in her. She would do anything to protect those she loved. It was one of the many things her friends loved most about her.
"I agree." Stefan interrupted. "It doesn't solve anything for us to sacrifice one life for another. We just need to think of something else, we need time."
"News flash brother, we have no time." Damon scoffed. "The full moon is tomorrow, and Klaus has weaseled his way into town somewhere."
Klaus had jumped into Alaric's body, but after the ordeal at the decades dance with Bonnie he was in the wind. We assumed he had returned to his own body, but we had no idea what he looked like, he could be anyone.
"I can kill him." Bonnie announced, eyeing her blonde best friend.
"No way. "Adeline argued. "He thinks you are dead, which means you are safe."

"Addy, I can do this. I—" Bonnie started.
"No! No way." Adeline cut her off with haste. There was no way she was letting Bonnie anywhere near the psychopath of a vampire. Klaus was unpredictable, a loose cannon. At least with Elijah you knew you could take him for his word, the same could not be said for the original vampire they had yet to meet.
"Klaus isn't even supposed to know Elijah is here or involved. SO, how could he get addy to be the vampire sacrifice he uses?" Elena questioned.
It was a good question, and she had a point. The group pondered for a moment, trying to think logically about Elijah's threat.
"He's an original and a man of his word...he would make it happen." Stefan broke the silence.
They all knew he was right. There was probably a thousand different ways he could ensure that Adeline was used in the sacrifice if they chose to cross him again. Adeline took a deep breath and excepted her fate.
"We try to save Elena and worry about the rest as it happens." She shrugged.
"Addy—" Elena blurted.
"Don't Elena." She insisted. "It's the only plan we've got for now."
*******
Adeline was in her bedroom, pacing the floor. She dressed in dark jeans, a white tank top and black jacket. She thought it was a good outfit to die in for some reason. At this very moment, Damon was going to take out both Klaus' wolf and vampire out of the equation for tonight's ritual which ultimately meant Elijah would be coming for her soon.
There was a deep pain aching inside her chest as she headed from her bedroom door. She knew what she was about to do would be unbearable. She had to say goodbye to her father, but of course inly she knew it could be their final goodbye. Her heart was mercilessly thumping inside her chest, she could hear each beat ringing in her ears as she descended the stairs. This wasn't fair to her father, and she knew that. He already lost his wife and losing his daughter, the only thing he had left may be enough to break him. But this was who Adeline was, she was the friend who would lay her life down for anyone else's' no matter the personal cost.
"Dad?" she called, scanning the living room.
"Out here Addy!" he called from the back porch.
Her gut was churning, and she felt like she was going to be sick as she strode towards the back porch. Her father was sitting on the rocking chair outside looking out into the trees that surrounded the family home. Adeline's heart felt as if it was shattering into a thousand pieces when she looked at him. He had always loved sitting outside and rocking, it was his way of unwinding.
"Beautiful night isn't it?" he smiled at her. The knot forming in her throat almost kept her from being able to speak.
"It is." She forced.
"Are you headed out?" he questioned.
"Yeah—just hanging with Elena, Bonnie and Care." She choked.
"Well don't be out too late—okay? And be safe." He insisted.
The tears were forming in her eyes, blurring her vision as they threatened to trace lines down her cheeks. She swallowed hard and batted her eyelashes, forcing the tears back down. She needed to keep her composure, at least until she was away from her father.
"Okay." She agreed with her father but knew she didn't mean it. He was asking her to stay safe and she was about to be thrusted into harms way with the high probability of never returning home to him. She had to say something to him, something simple that wouldn't raise suspicion but something meaningful. "Hey Dad—" she choked, and his gaze immediately turned to meet hers. "I love you."

"I love you too sweety." He stood up from his chair and walked to stand in front of his daughter. "Give me a hug."
She wrapped her arms around her father and squeezed him tight as he did the same. She felt the warmth she had felt her whole life around her dad, for a moment she felt protected as she knew he would do anything for her. Her father's familiar scent flooded her nostrils, and she took a deep inhale, allowing herself to breathe it in.
"You better get going." He smiled, breaking the hug. "Don't want to keep your friends waiting."
She nodded and headed for the door. He was right, she couldn't stay but not because she couldn't keep her friends waiting. It was more because she knew Elijah would be coming for her and didn't want him showing up here, anywhere near her dad.
*******
Something was wrong. Damon had completely threw off Klaus's plan and yet, she was still sitting on the couch in the Salvatore house waiting to be taken by Elijah. It was getting late and he was no where in sight. Stefan was pacing along the floorboards almost creating a draft in the room.
"Something isn't right." He muttered.
"I know." Adeline breathed.
She knew Stefan didn't want her to be taken but the fact that no one had even attempted to meant something was wrong. They should have been here by now; it was getting late. As much as he worried for Adeline; Elena was his girlfriend, so he worried for her too.
The two of them sat in silence trying to conjure up possibilities in their head and think of what they could do, or what they needed to do. Before either of them could share a plan with the other, the doors to the Salvatore mansion swung wide open and a visibly distraught Caroline stepped inside.
"They took Jenna instead." She panted.
"What?" Adeline gasped, standing from her seat on the couch.
"They turned her— she was Klaus's back up vampire." Caroline continued.
Stefan and Adeline shared a glance between each other and without another word they headed for the doors. Adeline couldn't let this happen. Jenna was someone she loved as well, and she knew that she was the only one both Jeremy and Elena had left. She didn't want to leave them with no one, she would feel responsible, especially because she was supposed to be the back up plan, not Jenna.
"Where are you going?" Stefan questioned, grabbing Adeline by the arm.
"With you—of course." She answered honestly. She looked at Stefan's expression with confusion. She was supposed to be the sacrifice if things went wrong, so of course she was coming.
"No." he protested. "You are not giving yourself over to him."
"That was the plan all along Stefan!" she shouted. "You knew that."
"No, you aren't—because I am." He argued. "I have lived Addy, a long time. You have barely just begun. I won't let you do this. Especially because if I had stayed away from Elena, maybe you all wouldn't be in this mess."
Adeline tried to protest but was given no more time by Stefan as he left at lightning speed, leaving her behind. She knew there was no way she could catch up to him, he had vampire speed and she was merely human. But she was determined not to let anyone die for her, that is the kind of guilt that eats someone with a heart as kind as Adeline's alive.
She didn't hesitate any longer. She hopped in the car and sped towards the ritual sight. She was lucky Damon had told them exactly where it was. She knew she wouldn't beat Stefan there but with any luck, she could exchange places with him when she did arrive.
Adeline parked her car and sped through the woods, she could see the glow of fires burning from a distance and low voices. She slowed down the closer she got and hid behind a large tree, trying to sneak a glance at what was going on in front of her. Both Jenna and Elena were trapped in rings of fire and Stefan was speaking to a man she assumed was Klaus, pleading to take the spot of Elena's aunt. She hadn't got a peak at the originals face yet, but she could hear him as he spoke.
"How nice of you to offer yourself to me, but the answer is no." Klaus bellowed, and with a swift motion quicker than light, he snapped Stefan's neck leaving him temporarily lifeless on the ground.
It was Adeline's turn to try. Maybe he wouldn't take Stefan in Jenna's place because there was something about the symmetry of using three girls that intrigued him. She couldn't be sure what his reasons were, he could have no reasons. He was a sick, dark minded, sinful individual.
She sucked in the deepest breath she could withstand and forced herself out from behind the tree. She slowly moved into the open. Her palms were sweating but she hadn't caught the attention of the deranged original yet. His back was to her, until she opened her mouth and spoke.
"Take me." She announced. Every eye moved in her direction, landing on her.
"Addy?!" Elena yelled. "No! What are you doing?"
Addy chose to ignore her friend, she had to. She couldn't listen to her pleas; they would only make this harder on her and break her heart further.
Klaus slowly turned around, expecting to murder whoever this new intruder was on sight. He has grown tired of the interruptions. When his gaze met hers, he was instantly locked into the ocean blue eyes of the brave girl standing before him. There was a pause; a moment where nothing was happening, and no one said a word. Both Klaus and Adeline were locked in a dead stare with one another. It was unlike Klaus to be at a loss for words but for a moment, he was.
"Take me—please." Adeline pleaded softly, breaking the silence. Klaus cocked his head to the side like he was unsure or intrigued by her.
"I can handle her." Greta announced.
"Stop." Klaus ordered, throwing his hand up.
Adeline stood as firm as she could, holding her ground under the watchful eye of Klaus. Silence befell them again.
"You're human." He continued. "You are of no use to me."
"Turn me." She blurted, never looking away from his captive eyes.
"No! I won't let you do this for me Addy!" Jenna screamed.
She knew Jenna wouldn't like the idea either, she has always been like a big sister to Adeline which is just another reason on the list of reasons to save her.
"Stop talking." Klaus shouted. "What did she say your name was? Addy?"
"Yes, Addy well—Adeline. Addy is short for ... its Adeline." She trembled over her words. As much as she wanted to act cool and unphased she was completely horrified.
"Adeline." Klaus repeated. Her name sounded like silk slipping off his tongue. There was something about the original vampire that was causing a feeling of indifference in Adeline stomach. She wasn't sure what it was, but the wave of emotions she was experiencing would make it impossible to figure out. "The answer is no Adeline; I will not use you in place of Jenna here."
"Please." Adeline pleaded. "There is no reason you have to use Jenna and not me."
Klaus took a step in her direction which made Addy tremble further. A devilish smirk spread across his lips, he could tell she was afraid, and he was the kind of monster who enjoyed the fear he instilled in others.
"The reason is that I don't need a reason. I am Klaus Mikaelson. I do as I please." He smirked. "Now, if you'll excuse me love I'm on a bit of a time crunch."
He turned away before Addy could even form a word. But she could tell by his cold demeanor that there were no words that could change his mind. He was hell bent on using Jenna. She didn't want to watch, she couldn't. There was nothing she could do but she also wouldn't stand idly by and watch her friends die. Her best chance was to leave and maybe find Damon, he could try something.
"Greta—trap her." Klaus ordered just as the blonde tried to make a break back to her car. The witch did as he said, circling a ring of fire around Adeline. She was really stuck now. There was no telling what was going to happen, but she had no choice but stay.
Adeline was forced to watch in horror as Klaus ripped the heart out of Jules and squeezed out all the blood from her heart. He then moved on to Jenna, stabbing a wooden stake through her heart while Adeline sobbed and Elena screamed. The last part to break the curse was Elena, Adeline was trembling and her body felt numb as the vampire sucked every ounce of blood from her friends body, until she dropped to the ground— and now only Klaus stood, with blood dripping of his chin and victory in his eyes.
