《SINNER - Klaus Mikaelson》FORTY

"You are Klaus Mikaelsons wife?" She questioned, looking the vampire up and down again. She had yet to shake the look of shock off her face. Adeline was getting more annoyed with her by the minute.
"Yes." Adeline answered bluntly.
"And you want me to bring back Klaus?" She scoffed. "The worst creature— an evil original hybrid?"
"I do."
"You are out of your mind. The only weapon that could kill Klaus died with him— if we brought him back, he could never be killed if need be."
"What a great point." Adeline mocked. "Good thing there will be no need for him to die."
The witch shook her head and looked back down at her disarrayed cards. She couldn't bring Klaus back, he would kill her and her whole coven for what the Hallow did. He would blame them and he would be worse than Marcel.
"I can't do it." She argued. "The world is better off with Klaus Mikaelson dead."
Adelines blood boiled, she rushed the witch grabbed her by her throat and shoved her against the wall behind her. The veins protruded from under her eyes .
"The world is not better off with Klaus dead— my world is not better off." She snarled through gritted teeth. "And you are going to help me or I swear I'll burn this place to the ground with you and your coven inside."
"You aren't an original dear— I'll kill you." She spat.
"You're right— I'm not but Elijah is. And if got kill me he will come for you, then what?" Adeline scoffed.
"He would never find us— took you years, didn't it?"
"Oh trust me, he would find you. No matter how long it takes." Adeline promised.
The witch knew she was telling the truth, Elijah would come for them in time and them if she killed her. Adeline let the witch go, she slid down the wall gasping for air and clutching her throat. Adeline was always the even tempered one, the kind one and Klaus did all the dirty work — but things had changed. She changed since Klaus's death and she would do anything to get him back.
"What's in this for me, huh?" The witch asked. "What's to stop me from killing myself right now to save my coven from Klaus Mikaelson being back on this earth?"

"New Orleans." Adeline answered. The witch looked intrigued by her answer immediately. "If you bring Klaus back, we will all leave. The originals and Marcel."
"You can't make that happen." She protested.
"Yes— I can. Elijah can, and believe me Klaus can."
She thought for a moment— sure bringing Klaus back was bad but if all the vampires left town with him, it seemed like an okay price to pay.
"I'll need the body." The witch agreed. A smile took over Adelines face, finally a chance— a chance to bring back the man she loved.
"I have it." She smiled.

The witch and a few members of the coven went to the Mikaelson family crypt where Klaus's body was housed in a coffin inside. Adeline didn't come here, it was to hard for her. Today was her first day since the funeral. She opened the doors and took a deep breath as she stepped towards her husbands coffin.
Her phone began to ring in her pocket.
"Hello?" She answered.
"Where are you? Are you okay?" Elijah questioned.
"Yes— I'm fine." She responded. "Please just watch Hope for a little while longer, I'll be home soon."
"Adeline, if you aren't okay I can help you." Elijah insisted.
"Elijah." She calmed. "I'm okay."
He could tell something was up— but he didn't want to push her and risk making things worse. He said okay and they hung up the phone. Allowing Adeline to get back to work with the witches.
They walked over to the coffin, opening the heavy mahogany wood top. The breath was about knocked out of Adelines chest when she got a look at her husbands dead, desiccated body. He looked worse than the day she found him— so much worse. It was almost to much for her to bare but she had to force herself to think positive, to think he is coming back.
"Okay lets get started." The regent announced. "We need a few drops of your blood."
"Why?" Adeline questioned.
"The blood of the deceased love ones can make our connection to him stronger, make it easier to pull him back to our side." She explained.
Adeline agreed taking the blade from the witches hand and slicing her hand open, dropping the crimson blood into the circle. The witches began chanting around Klaus's body. It wasn't long before several of there noses started bleeding— the more they chanted the more they bled. Klaus was still laying still, unchanged and not moving. They tried again for several more minutes with nothing.

"Why isn't it working?" Adeline choked, the tears were already rising.
"It's not an easy task to bring back a power creature like Klaus. It takes a lot of power— I'm not sure we are enough." She admitted.
"But you brought back the Hallow?!" Adeline protested, shaking her head.
"She wasn't an original— a hybrid." The witch defended. The group began to chant again, trying and trying with no luck.
The regent looked at Adeline with heavy eyes— it wasn't working and it wasn't going to. Adeline clutched her hand over her chest and crashes to her knees in the cold stone floor. The tears began to flood her eyes. She thought this could work— she put so much time into this thinking it could work. This was the only reason she hadn't completely crumbled, because she had this hope and today it was destroyed.
"I'm sorry." The regent breathed. "I could tell you really wanted this."
Adeline didn't want to hear any apologies, she didn't want to look at him any longer. She left the crypt, leaving the coven standing around her husbands body. She had to feel close to him, she needed to. She went to the only place she could, the place he always said he did— their wedding venue.
****
It was dark, but the string lights were lit, causing a golden glow around the altar. She stood before the old plantation house, remembering every moment. She knelt down, gripping the cool grass between her fingers and squeezing her eyes shut. If she focused hard enough, she could almost feel him.
"God I miss you." She whispered to herself.
The wind blew, tossing her hair around, leaving stray pieces on her face. It was quiet and peaceful, a good place for her to let it all out. She used her hand to cover her mouth, trying to contain her sobs. They are the kind of sobs that made your body jolt, painful.
She let herself feel it all— welcomed the emotions before taking a deep breath and trying to get herself together again.
"Hello love."
It felt like her body turned to stone— she was frozen. It was his voice, but there was no way it was him. She must have been dreaming again. She slowly turned around, preparing to see nothing but there he was. He was standing there, with a small smirk on his face. Her hands began to tremble and her knees felt like they were about to give in.
"Klaus..." she breathed.
She ran to him, jumping into his arms that were waiting for her. He spun her around, smiling into her neck. This is what she dreamed of every night for the last seven years.
Adeline pulled her head off his shoulder and crashed her lips into his. She couldn't sure he was real until she felt his kiss— she still felt like she was imagining it until his lips connected with hers. This was his kiss, his real kiss. She couldn't mistake it. It was everything.
He set her feet back down on the grass, holding both her hands in his. There was no way either of them were letting each other go anytime soon.
"How?" He questioned, smiling at his wife. "Those witches I saw when I woke?"
"Yes. The ninth ward." She admitted. "I found them."
He smiled, shaking his head. Only Adeline would be able to track them down, only she would convince them to bring him back. He thought he would be dead, gone forever but he should have known she wasn't going to let that happen.
They hugged again, Klaus holding Adeline against his chest tightly. He breathed in the familiar scent of her lavender vanilla shampoo, she still smelled just the way he remember.
"I never stopped loving you." She whispered. "Not even for a second."
"I know." He breathed. "Neither did I."
She placed a peck on his lips, smiling.
"I could stay here like this all night." She admitted. "But I think there are some other people who would want to see you."
Klaus smirked and laced his hand with Adelines.
They were headed home— together.

Contact Through Voided Lenses
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Edit: Fixed some inaccuracies in the synopsis. The void is a vast unexplored ocean filled with various wonders and dangers all waiting to be explored by those brave enough to travel and record. Many souls do find themselves brave enough to face the vast distances, the various risks to personal safety and do the hundreds of task required on a craft. However, at times the void itself can be boring with absolutely nothing to do but as time pass and more and better technology is reached, things got better. The various trips got faster, communications became faster than light and you can be home to see your loved ones after only months now. Through the various planets whether rocky or gaseous, the various stars whether small or giant, the various systems both eerily similar or completely alien. As part of an expeditionary scientific exploratory survey craft, one could see that the void offers no reprieve from all the discoveries and wonders. At times, it can feel empty and silent where no soul can hear you scream and at others it can be overwhelming with sudden phenomenon that can overwhelm the brightest of minds. The void itself is a truly fascinating ocean where one must chart the various islands or drown in its deadly tidal waves. But the question still remained no matter how you try to hide it in of itself… is there truly other intelligent life out there? Are we alone in this ocean? Those very questions still haunt the minds of those on the crafts themselves as they brace for every jump ready for the unknown and the known. Many would try to explain that yes there is other intelligent life out there whilst other still say no after 2 centuries of continuous flight out of the home system. Still, those are questions that bury deep in the minds of the crew and those at home as the voidcraft jumps to a system with a single yellow star orbited by 8 other planets with one crowning blue jewel being the 3rd closest with its 5 oceans and 7 continents, a planet called Dirt which is inhabited by a primitive species called Humanity. Hello, author here and this is my newest dive into writing particularly for the Writathon currently in progress being my first one. I hope you give me story a try but in case you still want more information on what you’re getting into, below are some pointers about the story itself. First Contact: CTVL is a story about a first contact scenario between an advanced alien civilization and a slightly more advanced modern day humanity on their planet called Dirt. Characters: The story will take place mainly on the perspective of the alien visitors themselves though there will be human POV characters who will show how the rest of humanity react through media and forums. Action: It won’t be an actual alien invasion but you have to see for yourself how well first contact went. Sci-Fi: I will be very forward here, I WILL bend the rules of physics in order to add in parts of the plot and there WILL be parts that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Theme: It will be a brooding story talking about the futility of pe… Just kidding, it’s mostly wholesome stuff to be honest here. Alien: The aliens themselves will… actually why should I tell you, you have to go and read it to find out what the aliens are though I will draw a few things here and there to aid in the process. Extra tidbit: If you are a grammar nazi or someone who really wants a realistic scifi story... this story is probably not for you at all. Anyways, that’s pretty much all I can say before I spoil something major of the plot itself, the story is slice of life so make sure that type of story is what you like because I am terrible with anything else as I found out, anyways, have a good time everyone and good luck to the other Writathon participants.
