《Short Ghost Stories》32) Something Happened During Video Call
Advertisement
Location : Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Sender : Mr Zaidi
This incident happened in one of the hotels in KL, Malaysia. I was there on work purposes. They had given me the apartment room, which is, quite frankly too big for a bachelor like me.
In the apartment room of this hotel, there are 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and the living hall. They had given me this room to stay for 4 days. I'm a lazy person when it comes to unpacking so i haven't unpack much since i arrived about 3pm earlier.
I am quite close to my mother. She had video called me on Whatsapp later that night while i was watching tv in my hotel room. So we were just chit chatting, the random talks. Then i told my Mum,
"Mum hold on for a bit. I want to make coffee for myself."
I needed both hands to make coffee so i left my phone on the table while my Mum still on the line. I had on loudspeaker while i video called my Mum. Okay so when i placed my handphone on my table in the hotel's living room, all my Mum could see on her phone screen was the living room's ceiling. I had gone to make my coffee when suddenly,
" ASTAGHFIRULLAH HAL AZIM!! YA ALLAH!! ASTAGHFIRULLAH HAL AZIM!! " my mother shouted some Islamic prayers.
I was so shocked when i heard she said that so loudly. I rushed back to the living room.
" Mum?! What happened?! "
I repeatedly asked my Mum about what happened but she kept on reading prayers and i had to wait for about 3 minutes long till she finally respond to me again.
" Zaidi, who is in the hotel room with you?! " my Mum panicked.
" Huh? I'm alone, Mum. What happened?? " i told her.

" Really you are all alone in that room?? Oh Lord! Please save my son! " her reply started to make me feel worried.
" You call me back. Normal voice call. I don't want to video call you anymore!" my Mum said.
She put down the phone but immediately gave me a voice call after that.
"Zaidi, Oh Lord! Zaidi, please request them to change your room. Please!" my Mum begged me.
" Why Mum? " i asked her but she wont gave me an answer for a few minutes.
"Just now.. when you placed your phone on the table, i saw something! I saw a woman.. looking at me through your phone! "
"HUH!?!!" i was in shock.
" Oh Lord! Zaidi, her face was so so scary!! " my Mum added.
" Mum you hold on for a while. Don't hang up. " i told Mum.
I went to check the whole apartment. Then, i told Mum,
" Mum.. i don't feel good. I can feel that something is not right. I felt goosebumps all over my body.."
"Zaidi you.. you go pack your things now and leave that room right away! Tell the hotel staff to switch you into another room! Or even switch to another hotel..later Mum will cover the payment. Please Zaidi! " my Mum sounded more panicked than before.
Suddenly...
' KREEEK! '
The thing had started playing with my bedroom door. At that moment, i felt so scared. Seems like the entity had made its presence more obvious to me. I was lucky i haven't unpack all my things. Quickly, i took away my luggage and left the room immediately and return to the lobby. It took them about an hour to finally find another room for me.
That was my very first experience with the supernatural and i hope not to encounter any of it again. Thank you.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Sufficiently Advanced
A Novella about magic vs aliens vs science. It's a raucous, campy sci-fi read involving humans gaining magic, a possibly pizza-hating alien empire, the decapitation of the US Federal Government, eldritch abominations, lesbian space witches and some medium-hard science.I wouldn't say it's not serious, but I wouldn't say it's serious. Eh, it's not serious. Wait... it's getting serious.

Treading Twilight
Reia Welsh was a student Photomancer who attended Decorous Academy for magical knights, typically wouldn't find herself on either end of the bullying stick, which was pretty impressive considering a multitude of authoritative clubs for the social elites happened to oppress and rule the school with an iron fist. And as such, she's going to do something about it-but the consequences she might have to face just may go deeper than the school's very own foundations. With only a few months left before graduation, will she be able to change Decorous for the better? Or will conspiracies, twisted ideologies, dark forces, and mystical beasts intercept any chances she has at reaching her goals? Join Reia on her bizarre knight journey. *** And see, as the redhead cowered at the foot of a locker, they petrified him right there and then in a blast of snow-like powder that came out of one of the bully's hands without the single utterance of a spell all there was a blue instantaneous glow...then the kids from Deck 52 walked off all the while goofily wiggling their bodies. "Hey, why don't you dance with us Peter, c'mon do a little dance." "It's just a petrification spell Peter, don't be down..." "Yeah, dude." But of course, the victim couldn't so much as move his thumbs let alone dance a fool.** ⚠️Caution Mature Content ⚠️⚠️Mature Language⚠️⚠️Mild Drug use⚠️⚠️Graphic/Exaggerated Violence⚠️⚠️OverPoweredCharacters⚠️
