Note:

this chapter contains vulgar language,

Chapter (Chapter 34: the chase) is NOT a separate decision chapter. It is linked to chapter 30 and the decision you made there.

In chapter (chapter 3o: The key) you could choose whether to keep the key or to put it back down. If you didn't choose just yet then go back to chapter 30 and choose. If you did choose, then consider all of the above not written.

If you did NOT take the key, then you're at the right chapter.

Damn it! You didn't take they key! Why did you nearly always wanted to play safe and just put it back! You should've listened to your feelings and keep it! You stupid, stupid person! There is no time for fucking regret, just run!

You gave this door one last desperate tug before you realized it was truly locked. You then quickly shot to the side, into another corridor. The footsteps of the masked man following you still remained and you knew you couldn't maintain this running for a long time.

You would eventually grow tired, your muscles would protest even more and then you would collapse. This weird killer following you would have free game and could do anything he wanted. You didn't even want to think about what he would do with that scalpel.

What were you going to do now? You need to keep running, for your own sake. You couldn't escape this hellhole on your own, you needed someone. Jeff wasn't here; maybe he was in one of these corridors? You couldn't really do anything more than run though.

You just prayed to god that you would find him if he was here.

The footsteps behind you came closer and closer and you felt your own body beginning to counteract even more. Your muscles began to feel sore and they stung like a mad bee. Your pace began to get slower and you knew this was it, you couldn't run anymore.

Then suddenly, out of the darkness, a door popped up. It was a similar door to the one you had found a few moments ago. This door was also made from metal like material and heavy looking. Wait a second, this was the door! You now remembered!

You whole heart filled itself with hope as you used the last of your energy to make one last sprint towards it. You hoped that it wouldn't be locked like the first time you came in here. But... If this was the right door, then what was that other door?'

Were you really sure this was the right door?

You did recognize this door though, but then again you also recognized the other door. No time for thinking, even if you were uncertain whether this was the right door you had nowhere to go, so you had set your money on the only thing which was left.

You didn't even make attempts to stop as you got close to this door. You knew that once you would slow down he would get to you. This man was fast alright. When you were almost there you had reached out your hand in order to grab the handle as soon as you could.

If this door would also be locked then it was all over. You would be released into the afterlife. But you had to try first; the only thing keeping you running was your hope, your hope of ever escaping this place and leaving it all behind you.

In only a flash of a second, you felt the cold piece of metal colliding with your hand. It now felt as if it all was going in slow-motion. The footsteps of the blue masked killer being the only sound you could hear, aside from your racing heartbeat.

A shock of pain coursed through your body as your stretched arm partially stopped your body from crashing into this door. At the same time you used all of your power to push the handle down and thus opening the door... That is if it was open.

The handle moved down.

Your whole body filled itself with hope and happiness as the door opened thanks to your whole body weight pushing against it. This all happened in merely a few seconds. You then felt fingers and nails roughly digging themselves into your skin of your upper arm but you continued running, even though the pain made you mentally cringe.

You felt a pull, but you could free yourself from the grip. However it did make you stumble a little, you couldn't maintain your balance as you had entered the dark but slightly lighter corridor leading to the ground floor of the mansion. You faltered over your own feet and then you crashed into something.

Or rather, someone.

Two arms had wrapped themselves around your waist as you were about to fall. You had closed your eyes in anticipation for the upcoming crash, but it never came. Once you had realized that you weren't on the ground but in someone's arms you immediately opened them and looked up.

You stared straight into two lidless orbs, which were staring back at you.

Relief washed over you as you finally realized that it was truly him, that you were in his arms. You wanted to cry of happiness and even hug him for just being here, but before you got the chance you felt him shifting slightly, grabbing you by your shoulders and with one harsh swing he threw you on the floor behind him.

Just in time, you could catch yourself with your hands and knees. You collided with the ground rather roughly, and then immediately turned around to see what in the world was wrong with him. All the joy and relief felt before immediately disappeared and made place for anger.

Then when you had turned your anger once again made place for concern, worry and above all fear. You saw Jeff just standing there, facing the masked man who had chased you through all those corridors. The aura and tension coming from both of them filled the corridor and you knew something was wrong.

It was also now that you could take a good look at this man. The holes in his mask where that black liquid came from... Were those his eyes? No, that couldn't be. Jeff may have no eyelids but it's almost impossible to survive while having deep gaps in your head instead of eyes.

You had focused your gaze on the masked man, who stood there easily. He wasn't even gasping, or loudly breathing, no... He didn't even look tired. As if all that running and exertion didn't happen at all. How in the world is that possible?

"Ah, Jeff. I see you've found my latest prey?" It was more of a question than a statement. It was as if he was trying to make clear to Jeff that you really were his prey and that Jeff shouldn't intervene. How wrong he could be.

"Fuck off, E.J. She's mine." Jeff only snorted at the masked killer, his stance ready to fight against this freak. You knew Jeff's short temper and you also knew how easily he could be provoked into fighting. However the blue masked man still stood there, not even moving a finger.

"Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see any markings on her, do you Jeffrey?" Your eyes widened and immediately turned to Jeff as you waited for him to snap. This guy was taunting Jeff, but on an entirely different level than Masky could ever do.

"I already claimed her, that's enough idiot." The masked man only chuckled loudly. He acted so calm and only pointed out the facts, facts which Jeff couldn't really handle pretty well. Not that it was so hard to get on Jeff's nerves, but this guy just did it with so little effort.

"Now that's a real pity. However most of us can't smell something like that. We aren't as well developed as LJ coming to those sorts of things." Jeff only growled a little at E.J., who only stood there calmly. The tension in the air was still present, only it seemed to thin out a little.

"I on the other hand do respect the rules. But I suggest you mark her in case she wanders around again. Next time I'm not this bounteous." He continued. Now it was Jeff who chuckled loudly, his insanity slowly showing whilst he didn't even give you a glance.

"You're a real gentlemen, E.J." He said in a mocking tone, this time it was him who was provoking the masked man into a fight. E.J. didn't even give him any attention as the mask was now facing your way. He was staring at you one more time before he turned his back on both you and Jeff.

"On second thought keep her locked up in your room. I doubt that others will play by the rules once they've seen her." What did he mean by that? Before you could open your mouth and ask him something stupid he already disappeared back into the dark corridor.

Leaving no trace or sound. Not even footsteps fading.

You only stared at the darkness before the figure in front of you started shifting and turning around. His expression told you that he was furious. You still couldn't wrap your fingers around the fact that he had mood swings even worse than a woman in her period.

"What the fuck was that about?!" He only questioned, walking over to you in a demanding matter. You wanted to crawl back, cower in fear for his abusive ways but decided to just face him and stay where you were. It wasn't your fault anyway; he had nothing on you this time.

"I-" Before you could even speak, he had raised his hand to cut you off. For a single second you were afraid that he would hit you, but he only grabbed your upper arm roughly and dragged you onto your feet.

"You know what? You can explain it all in my room, staying here would be stupid." And with those words you both retreated back to the 'safety' of his room.

PLOTTWIST!

I'm sorry if I put any of you guys on the wrong track, but I originally was planning to have the good ending when the reader WOULD take the key... But then an awesome idea popped into my head and I decided to switch it, to create a big plot twist. In the beginning I wasn't so sure about it, because taking the key would be more obvious. Thanks to Cupcake Wonderland for helping me out with making the decision!

I also want to apologize for being so late. Even though I'm still in between the days I said I would publish, it was a really close call. So I think that next time I write the decision chapters I need more time. Especially since I'm really busy momentarily.

I thank you all for the nice comments, I'll reply to them as soon as I can. Do not hesitate to leave comments, feedback or even critic! Hope you enjoyed and stay awesome!
