You weren't crying anymore. You had spilled your tears looking at the girl for these past few hours. You didn't even feel the pain of your own wounds anymore. You only felt the stinging horrible pain in your heart. Sandy took a part of you with her when she died, just like Lola did.
And every other girl.
Jeff had lied to you; your friends aren't alive anymore. Sandy was the last... And yet you were unable to safe her. She sacrificed herself. You are alone. There is no light left in your heart, it all feels like one big, black hole. For all you cared you could get shot through your head and end it all right here.
Actually that was an awesome idea.
Why couldn't you just die? Why couldn't you just get this nightmare over with? Why did you have to suffer so much? It was painful, too painful to bear. Your heart... It hurts so goddamn fucking much. You couldn't take this anymore, you couldn't take it all.
You just wanted to die.
Why wouldn't you? What keeps you? You had no friends anymore, no promises to keep because you broke them all. You had nothing to live for. You would never see your parents again, your family. Your friends were all dead and your future? You didn't have one.
You would live on with Jeff until he had enough of you. Then you would die.
Why not speed that up a little? Giving out a sob you slowly stood up, wiping your tears away with the back of your hand and staring at your friend's body. It was real. Sandy really was gone and there was nothing you could do about it.
You wanted to give her a proper grave, to let her soul and body rest in peace but there was nothing in this room which could help you with it. There was no blanket, nothing to cover her up. You slowly walked over to her, fell onto your knees despite the incredible pain and then bended over.
You gave a soft kiss on her forehead; you had already closed her eyelids before. You whispered: 'I love you.' Softly before you stood up. The heavy pain felt in your heart when you would leave her increased within seconds but you had to go.
Even though you had nothing to live for, even though every single piece of light in your life had been taken away... You still had yet another thing to take care of. It wouldn't matter if you died right now or not, but it would matter if it happened by your own hands.
Sandy didn't sacrifice herself for that.
Lola, Sandy and all the other girls wouldn't allow you to. They wouldn't allow you to just give up on life like that without even trying. You had no one to drag along, no one to safe right now. No friends...
No one but yourself.
You straightened your back, ignoring every single complain your body gave you. The complaints weren't for nothing, you knew. More wounds and your body would stop too, yet you didn't care. There wasn't any other thing you had to do right now.
It was your last and only mission.
Giving one last glance at Sandy's body and speaking a silent prayer you left the room. This time it was important to be focused. You needed to get as far as possible, even if that meant getting to your death. You needed to move on and you needed to be fast.

While concentrating on your surroundings you started walking, walking towards the staircase which led to the door upstairs. With each step you made you tried to be as quiet as possible, not wanting to alert any other people. However this corridor didn't seem as dangerous as that maze.
You kept looking straight ahead, blocking out every sound, every thought. You had one mission and you were doomed if you didn't fulfill it or die trying. You had broken every single promise which was made in this hellhole but you were not going to break the last.
For Sandy's sake and the rest of your friends.
For Lola, Mandy, Rayne and Farah.
You were going to finish this book.
You saw the small staircase coming closer and closer, now nearly running towards it. For as far as you could run. The wound on your side thanks to the hatchet wasn't as deep as you had expected it to be and it also didn't bleed as much. Your hand was still hanging lifelessly on your side and each step you took resulted in great pain in one of your legs.
However you could only see your goal, feel the warmth and freedom of your goal. It drove you further; it drove your body to continue on. It seemed so easy without the constant pondering over what could happen, what would happen once you would push through with your plan.
It was relieving.
You grabbed the small, metal banister as you pulled yourself up the stairs. It was a lot harder than expected but you pushed further, coming closer and closer towards the door. Once you stood in front of it you opened the wooden portal without any hesitation.
Light was shining brightly into your eyes and you took a minute to get used to it. You slowly walked further, not even caring to look around for anyone. You just kept walking straight towards that door... No, not the small door in the back of the room, leading to the old staircase...
The big, wooden doors that led towards the big staircase... And above all the big front door which would lead towards your freedom. The two doors were coming closer and closer and you knew that it was now or never. You only had one chance at this and you couldn't afford to screw it up.
You grabbed the small knob, leaning on it a little to gather all of your power, your strength. You needed to run from now on, bolting out of the door and running straight into the woods. From there you would keep on running straight ahead, towards your city and towards safety.
If you would fail...
Then you've at least tried.
Taking a deep breath you opened the door before you ran off, speeding through it and running straight at the big door. Once you had entered the room your head immediately filled itself with the same, tense feeling you had felt before, making you dizzy.
You ignored it, your goal too close to let it slip because of something in your head. The dizzy feeling got stronger within seconds, yet you were still running. Your hand reached out for the door, for the golden tube which needs to be pushed down in order to open it.
The pounding in your head became almost unbearable when you had reached the door, but it was your drive to get out of here even faster. You used all of your power to push the tube down, resulting in a soft 'click' and then the door slowly opened.
It was heavy as hell and you pushed your body against it, your feet sliding over the ground in order to get it open far enough for you to squeeze through. You felt liquid running over your lips and for a second you were ripped from your thoughts.

You regained yourself quickly, ignoring all the pain and pushing even harder. When there was a small slit you pushed your body in between it, creating a bigger opening where you could fit through. You nearly faltered through the door, your feet dancing in front of you to keep you standing.
You were outside. You were outside of that stupid hell hole. You had just gone through the front door of the mansion without being noticed. You were outside; you were so close to freedom. You just needed to get through the forest and then you'll be home.
Home.
You couldn't keep standing here, time was of great importance and you couldn't lose a single second. You shot into the woods, leaving the mansion behind a few trees until it wasn't seen anymore. You had to be quick, you had to be fast.
Your hand wiped away the liquid which was running over your lips. A quick glance at your hand told you it was blood and slightly shocked you followed the trail towards your nose. Your nose was bleeding. But there was no time to ponder over that now. You needed to run, that's all you need.
You were wondering if someone knew, if someone would chase you... But you didn't actually think so. Unless it was Jeff, no one would really care if you'd escape or not. At least that's what Hoodie said.
"We need people to spread the word, to make humans aware of our power. These victims are the best solution."
If you would escape and spread the word, then what's wrong about that? Isn't that what they wanted? Well, Jeff certainly doesn't want that but he can go fuck himself. He lied to you on purpose. Yes, you know damn well it's a killer. He's a psychopath.
Yet it still hurts that he lied about something like that. It still hurts that, when you were starting to bear with him more and more, started to even feel more comfortable around him, that he had to shattered this trust into a thousand pieces by lying.
What was he trying to accomplish anyway, huh?
The ice cold wind was blowing through your hair. The moon was shining brightly through the trees and providing you with the only light you had left. You carefully avoided the branches lying on the ground, but you didn't care about getting cuts from the ones hanging from the trees.
You didn't care about anything unless it was escaping this hellhole and going home.
Oh home... How beautiful that word sounds... You couldn't go and live your old life again like you wanted to. Your friends are dead; you have been harassed and abused... Too many things have happened, but at least you're free. Away from Jeff and away from those killers...
For a period of time.
Free you would never be, but the thought of only a few seconds tasting the sweet freedom is enough, that would be more than enough. You needed it, you wanted it.
A loud, dangerous and above all close howling made you stop running in your tracks. You stood still immediately, even though you knew that wasn't such a smart idea. However your head told you to be careful now, because this howl was heard very close to you.
Almost too close.
You turned your head and scanned your surroundings. Whatever it could have been, if it really would be this close then you would surely see it. Nothing but darkness came from the trees. You decided to listen really carefully for anything.
Nothing.
When you slowly started to walk, however, you again heard a chilling, loud howl...
Wolves.
Without even thinking you bolted away. Whatever it was you needed to get away from it as soon as possible. You were obviously close and walking will only keep you more in that area than running will. You speeded past the trees, past the bushes.
You heard the chilling howl again and pushed your body to go even faster. It seemed more distant than before, but you didn't want to take any chances. The sweat was forming onto your forehead and instead of cold, you became incredibly hot.
Because of the rush, because of the fear for those wolves, you didn't look where you were going and eventually your foot got stuck behind a rock. You faltered over your own feet, desperately trying to keep standing before you crashed onto the ground with a loud crash.
A soft groan of pain escaped your throat as the world was spinning before your eyes. Great, if you didn't already have a concussion then you surely have one now. You tried to get up as quickly as possible, but you now did feel the pain spreading through your whole body.
You bit your lip, suppressing the feeling and slowly getting onto one, and then two legs. You were breathing loudly, taking in oxygen as if it was going to disappear soon. You forgot that you didn't really have a good condition anymore, and that running for that long took its toll on your already too damaged body.
You even wondered how in the world your body could keep up, how in the world you had so much strength to just push through. It was almost impossible, but you had seen it before. On television people could even outrun a hippo while being wounded just because they wanted to live.
Maybe that had something to do with it?
You didn't know, but you were grateful. You thanked your body over and over again, but above all thanking your mind for suppressing the pain. When you thought you had enough oxygen you prepared yourself for running again, brushing off the dirt.
However a sudden sound behind you made you frozen in place. Your heart, which was finally getting back to a healthy pace started beating fast again as your blood literally ran cold. Shivers were felt over your spine as you didn't dare to turn around.
A low, menacing growl was heard right behind you and as you slowly turned, you saw where it came from. Your breathing hitched once you stood face to face with that monster, face to face with the cause of the dangerous howls from before.
A wolf.
Not just a wolf. His eyes were blood red; the saliva was dripping from his mouth, which was wide open to show off his pointy and dangerous teeth. He looked at you as if you had abused the thing for years. Only pure and utter hatred shown towards you.
While you were frozen in place you heard more rustling in the bushes and while shaking you turned your head that way. From the corner of your eye you saw another wolf showing itself, and then another. Before you knew it there were more than 5 wolves, dangerously lurking at you and waiting for a chance to attack.
You felt your blood rushing through your veins again as the sweat started to form. Your body was preparing to run for its life, and that was exactly what you needed. Without moving you searched for an open spot, a place to run before those wolves would attack you.
Without even slight hesitation you suddenly bolted away, nearly shooting from your place as you carefully avoided the bite of one of those wolves. You heard them snarling lowly and you knew they were behind you, you could feel them behind you.
Your whole plan of getting out of here turned to getting away from those wolves. You were running at an inhuman pace, keeping your eyes out for probable escape routes but you saw none. They were too close to get into a tree on time, you would never make it.
Suddenly you had to stop right in your tracks, digging your heels into the ground in order to get you to stop. You had stopped just in time, nearly faltering because of what was in front of you. There, only a few inches away from your feet, was one hell of a big cliff.
You took one quick glance down and saw that it was at least a 100 meters deep. Oh damn, oh damn, oh damn! What should you do? Jump? No, that was definitely as death wish. You would never make it... The only option now was to...
You heard the wolves coming closer and closer and you had to decide quickly. Maybe jumping was better than to be ripped apart by hungry wolves. You took one quick glance down and then moved away from the cliff. No, you didn't have the guts, you needed to run.
But which way?
You quickly looked to the left, where the woods seemed to grow even thicker, more trees but also more darkness. Your head shot to your right, seeing also trees, but they seem to be thinned out thanks to the dry and unfertile land.
Either way you were already completely lost, thanks to that chase. You had no idea where to go and which way the mansion was. This was just a matter of pure luck.
You had to chose quickly, which way!?
Left? (Look at the side menu for left)
Right? (Look at the side menu for right)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is again a decision chapter. Notice that I have a tendency for one side, it's also my dominant hand.
Oh you don't know which one it is? Well, also in this story one will appear more than the other. It's a little hint I'll give you. Try to figure it out.
Again choose wisely!
