Chapter 14 – Rejected?
Zara's POV
As I walked back to the house, guards were wandering outside. Guards in groups talking in hushed tones and they held something that looked like a blueprint in their hands. My God, what the hell are they planning now? I walked passed them and went up to the porch. How long had I gone for them to plan all this?
I looked back at them and then went to open the door, and then I flinched when I heard shouting and screaming from inside. When I opened the door, everything went silent.
"What the hell is going on?" I asked s I stepped in the living room. I saw everyone sitting on the couch: Conner, James, Lilly, Abigale and Hayden.
"Where have you been?" Lilly said as she ran up and hugged me. I awkwardly hugged her back and looked behind her at everyone else. I gave them a 'what-the-hell' face as I patted her back.
"I went out, what's all the commotion outside?" I asked as I let go of Lilly and went to sit on the couch. All of a sudden, Conner and James roared in laughter. I looked around and saw that Abigale was trying not to laugh and Hayden was looking frustrated.
"What the hell is happening?" I asked for the final time. James looked at Hayden with amusement and then answered me.
"Our Almighty Alpha over here," he said pointing and Hayden who cursed at him, "has us wondering all over our lands to find you, because apparently, you went missing," he answered. I looked at him in shock and then turned to look at everyone else. Unsurprisingly, they had amusement in the eyes, though I didn't look at Hayden. Looking at him only reminded me of what he said and what happened.
"Well, Alpha, although I enjoyed the little...uhh...wake up call," winking at me, "I'm going back to bed," James said. He got up and leaned down to whisper in Lilly's ear, which made her flushed crimson red and they were both gone.
"Yeah, we're gonna crash too," Abigale said getting up as well. Conner followed her and they went upstairs together. That only left Hayden and me in the living room. Talk about awkward...

"Anyway, I'm going to...uh...go," I said and then made my way up the stairs. I stopped when I heard footsteps behind me. He came right behind me and put his arm around my waist. Sparks of pleasure flew through me and I didn't like it. The words he said to me came flowing through my mind.
"Let me go," I ordered merely in a whisper.
"Why should I?" he asked. I could feel his hot breath on the crook of my neck and, sad to say, it made my wolf happy that he was here. Why would she want him here anyway? After the way he spoke to me, she shouldn't be wanting him anywhere near us but of course, she thought it through and decided to give this douche bag a break.
"It's not like you care, so let me go," I responded. If he did care, he wouldn't have said those things to me. Before he could comment, I got out of his grip and went up to the room. I hit the bed right after I locked the door.
..........................................................................
Two days later...
As you all would have guess, I didn't let Hayden in the room (much to my wolf's dismay) and I'm not planning on it until he apologizes. So today was Tuesday and the guys were gonna have yet another get-together. Basically the same people were gonna be here; our crew plus Bryon and Alexander, Hayden's brother. When he introduced himself formally the other day, he seemed like a pretty cool dude and he's not so bad on the looks either.
He got it from Hayden, my wolf argued. I scoffed.
Hayden is younger than him, I said to her and chuckled to myself.
Oh yeah...she said and then tuned out. Wow, that's the first time she backed down willingly. I must be getting better at this. Anyway, after the whole 'get together' everyone got ready to go to bed and sleep (though I know that doesn't apply to Conner and Abigale...tsk tsk tsk).
.......................................................................................
I groaned as I looked at the digital clock beside the bed. Oh God, why can't I sleep anymore! I keep laying down in his bed just staring up at the ceiling. My wolf kept arguing with me to let Hayden in the room so he could 'comfort' me (her words, not mine) and so he could ease us to let us sleep. Well, until he apologizes he's not setting a foot near me.

Then explain what happened a few minutes ago, my wolf protested. I scoffed at her.
I told him to let me go, didn't I? I responded to her skeptically. She growled angrily at me obviously not pleased with the memory of me telling him to let me go. Well, too bad. It's basically his fault anyway why we're not talking.
I sighed and got up off the bed heading out the door. The halls were dark but there was a dim light coming from the living room. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I wandered down the stairs. Who could be up this late? It's quarter to three. When I entered the living room, I saw there was someone sitting on a stool by the bar. At first, I thought it was Hayden but his scent was nowhere to be found. Instead I found the innocent kid (please note the sarcasm).
"Jonah?" I asked. He turned around to look at me and I saw that he was just as confused as I was. I mean, what the hell is he doing up at this late hour?
"Zara? What are you doing up at three in the morning?" he asked. I chuckled and walked over to him.
"It's actually ten minutes to three but, you know, whatever works for you," I said and then smiled when he busted out in laughter.
"Alright then, Miss Exact. But seriously though, what are you doing up?" he asked. I sighed and snatched his beer from him hands to take a chug, must to his protests.
"I don't know, I just can't sleep in his house," I answered. He glared playfully at me and grabbed back his beer which I only rolled my eyes to, "what about you...why can't you sleep?" He tensed up for a second or so then he smiled, but I could tell it didn't reach his eyes.
"Well, for one my room is right next to Conner and Abi's room and as you would have figured out, they're making A LOT of unpleasant noises," he said and I laughed so hard tears were coming out of my eyes, "and secondly I guess...I couldn't sleep at all because---" he continued but trailed off when he glanced at me.
"Because what?" I automatically asked. He shook his head and got up from the stool going to the living room and sitting on the couch.
"Nothing, you don't have to worry about it," he said then took a swing at his beer. I sighed and sat beside him.
"Come on, you got me all worked up. Tell me," I pleaded putting on my irresistible puppy dog eyes. He groaned and looked away from me.
"Zara, you don't have to worry about it. It's nothing," was his reply. I punched him in the arm and he groaned in pain. I laughed as he clutched his injured arm.
"You're mean. There was no need for violence," he scowled at me, "and it's honestly not a big deal."
"Then if's it's not a big deal, then why can't you tell me?"
"It's just..." he started then he sighed and closed his eyes, "I have...well, I found my mate."
"What...that's amazing!"
"Yeah, but she...uhh...she kind of...rejected me," he stuttered. My face went expressionless. She rejected him?
"Uhh...well, she...you know what, you don't need her. It's her loss," I said trying to cheer him up. His lip twitched with a smile. Success.
"Yeah, I don't know if I can say the same."
"Yes you can. If she had the likes to reject you of all persons then..good riddance," I stated then laughed when he rolled his eyes, "alright, why don't we have some fun? You know, to take your mind off things."
"Let's get this two gang party on the road!" he shouted and then hopped off the couch to put a movie in. Yeah, let the party begin...
