Chapter 28- I Don’t Know What To Do.
Hayden's POV
I heard a familiar voice shout out. Too familiar, to be exact. I sighed and closed my eyes as I in fact smelled her scent all over the grounds. Didn't I tell her to stay at the house and wait for me to come back. When I opened my eyes, I saw my mate wrapped in the arms of one of the rouges. The leader of the rouges. This made me growl at the sight.
"Mine," I growled loudly as I immediately stepped forward but James held me back. I looked back to glare at him.
"Wait for it," he said pointing to the rouges. I turned around and saw that they had pulled away from each other, Zara's legs were now on the floor.
"What's up little sis?" the rouge asked. Wait, did he just say little sis? What's that suppose to mean? Sister- as in blood sister...as in related???
"Nothing much, I thought I'd never see you again," Zara replied.
"Yeah, me too then I heard this badass, or so-called if you will, is the mate of my sister. When I heard that, I was like 'that dude's in soooo much trouble," he said and Zara laughed.
"Yeah, but he still is pretty badass if I do say so myself," she said, "but I could still kick his ass." I snickered as I folded my arms. She said it like I wasn't even here. I heard the guys laugh behind me so I rolled my eyes.
"Aright, I think we should bring this somewhere else seeing that there are a few on-lookers," Logan said.
"We aren't letting rogues---" I was about to say when Zara cut me off.
"Yeah, that'll be a great idea. Let's go," she said then linked her arm with this 'Lucas' person, allowing the rest of his group to follow him.
"Are you even o.k. with that much rouges in the house, Almighty Alpha," Conner teased. I growled a warning at him then walked to catch up Zara.
"Uhh, Zara can I have a word with you...now," I demanded.
"Can it wait for a moment, Hayden? I'll talk to you when I get home,"
"Zara---"
"Oy, dude she said she'll talk to you later. Can you please give her some breathing space," Lucas said, "oh and lose the arm from around her waist."
I growled and stared him down then Zara ran her hand up and down my arm to calm me down. I looked down in her eyes and sighed. This isn't gonna be easy...
........................................................................
As soon as we made our way up to the house.
"This is your house?" one of the rouges asked. I rolled my eyes.
"No, we just suddenly decided to stop by, push a key in the front door and wait," I said sarcastically.
"Don't have to be so rude, jeez," he replied, "asshole," he muttered afterwards. I turned around and stood directly in front of him. He had light brown hair with dark green eyes. His face had few spots on it.
"Never, and I mean never, call me that, mutt," I said to him. He looked about ready to punch my eye out but dear ol' Lucas got up and came forward.
"Hey, watch how your talking to my friend, big boy," he said shoving my chest. I glared at him and shoved him back.
"Watch how you touch me," I said, "or better yet, don't touch me at all." He glared back at me and shoved me harder. Then we started shoving each other harder and harder until Zara came down and shouted at us to stop. We stopped immediately.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" she asked me.
"You're seriously looking at me right now, Zara?"
"Yes, Lucas hasn't even looked at you from---"
"Zara, my office now," I ordered then walked off to my office.
"She doesn't have to go anywhere with you," Lucas said. I stopped in my tracks but didn't even look around at him.
"It's fine Lucas, just sit down and make yourself at home," Zara said then I felt her hand on my arm trying to calm me down. I breathed out then took her hand and led her to the office.
"Zara, I don't know if I can do this," I said as I sat down. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair.
"Why are you being so mean to him? He hasn't done any---" she was about to say but I stopped her.
"Done anything, Zara? He crossed my territory, put fear in my people and most importantly, he's the leader of those rouges outside,"
"Here we go again with this rouge issue,"
"Zara, listen to me, I have...no I do have a problem with being rouges. Want to know why? Because I hate rouges with a passion because they screwed up this family,"
"What are you---"
"Zara, they are the very reason why my sister is dead," I said angrily and her face went blank.
"Isn't Karen your sister?" she asked me.
"Yeah, she is but I had two sisters. Alexander had a twin sister, but now she's gone," I said. Tears were now flowing down my cheeks. I felt Zara's thumb wipe them away then she lifted my head up to look at her.
"I'm sorry that happened to you," she said to me, "but I know my brother. He would never do anything like that to you. Neither his friends."
"I don't trust rogues Zara. They've only brought pain to my life," I said.
"That's why you have a problem with me being a rogue?" she asked me and I nodded.
We had a moment of silence then she spoke up.
"Alright, how about I make a deal with you?" she asked me quietly. I looked at her curiously.
"What kind of deal?" I whispered in her ear, loving the way she shivered when I spoke to her so close.
"I...uhh..." she stuttered, "it's not much...much of a deal. I just..."
"What is it, Zara?"
"Since you don't like me being a rouge, ohh I'm gonna regret saying this," she mumbled to herself, "how about I join your pack?" What, she wants to join my pack
"You want to join my pack?" I asked and she nodded and looked into my eyes.
"Ok, but are you sure. Not to pressure you or anything, but when you become a member of this pack you'll have to be the Alpha Female."
"Alpha Female, wow I never thought I'd hear that name again," she mumbled to herself looking away from me then sighed and looked back at me with determination in her eyes, "ok, let's do this."
"Really?"
"Yeah,"
"Alright, let's do this," I said then I got up, "repeat after me: I, Zara Ferrari, promise to serve and protect the Triton Kings territory, along with the people who reside in it. I promise to honor and cherish the title of Alpha Female then, when the time is right, pass it down to our son or daughter." I said and she repeated it fluently (well, except for the part about our son or daughter)

"Son or daughter?"
"Yeah, it goes with every Alpha Female; they have to say that," I said smirking at her. She sighed then breathed out the lines as she glared at me. I felt the power lift in the room and I could feel her wolf becoming more powerful.
"The Alpha connected to your wolf is gaining back her strength," I stated. She breathed in and then opened her eyes. Her eyes were still the same blue that I will always love, but they got a little more...electric. More lively. More fierce.
"So, I'm a part of your pack now," she stated. I smiled and wrapped my arms around her waist and placed my head on her shoulder. Her arms went around my neck and one rested on my chest.
"So, I guess that that means you have complete power...nah, I still rule," she said. I growled at her playfully and she smiled.
"So, how about we go meet Lucas?"
Ah great...

James' POV
I had got up to take a shower from a long jog that I had with Jonah and Logan. Hayden and Conner had gone with the rouges before us because we had told the shoppers it was safe to shop again.
"Hey, James, have you heard from Jenna lately?" Jonah asked me as we all came to a stop.
"Why do you ask?" I asked him turning around curiously.
"Yeah, why do you want to know, Jonah?" Logan asked him as well.
"Whoa, why the hell are you two charging up on me? Can't a guy ask a simple question these days?" Jonah asked. I narrowed my eyes at him then turned to Logan.
"And you, why the hell are you getting jealous? You know the rules, don't you?" Jonah said before I got the chance to.
"You're just jealous that I can get her and you can't," Logan said then he walked in the house. I heard a growl from beside me and then Jonah passed me and went in the house as well.
Man, they need to cool down...
I entered the house and went straight to my room. Her scent was all over the room and I smiled when I saw she was sleeping. I kicked off my shoes then climbed in the bed next to her. She immediately curled up beside me.
"James?" she asked as her eyes fluttered open.
"Yeah, baby?"
"How long did you get here?" she asked as she got up and stretched her arms.
"About half an hour ago," I answered.
"You could have waked me, you know. You didn't have to sit there for the full thirty minutes and watch me while I was sleeping," she said. I smiled cheekily at her and watched her roll her eyes and get up.
"Hey, where are you going?" I asked, "come lay down with me."
"Nope, I'm not tired anymore, plus I need to talk to Zara,"
"That's Alpha Zara to you," I teased her but she looked at me in confusion so I explained, "Zara just became a member of the pack so she's now the Alpha Female."
"How long ago was this?"
"Well, I'm guessing some minutes before I came here...uhh, about forty-five minutes ago," I said.
"But isn't Zara gonna get pregnant or whatever?" she asked and I laughed.
"No, baby, that's if they mate. She only became a part of the pack, they didn't mate...well as far as I know,"
"But don't you guys have to physically mate for one to be in a high rank like that?"
"No, where did you learn that?"
"Uhh...my pac--my old pack used to do that," she mumbled as she looked down on the ground, "they told me--never mind."
"They told you what?" I asked, my voice holding the anger the seeped through me. She looked at me then came up to me and gave me a short kiss to calm me down. I sighed and walked around her waiting for her to answer me.
"What did they tell you?"
"They just told me that I have to sleep with the Alpha to hold a high ranking position," she answered and I growled.
"I'm gonna fucking kill that guy when I find him!" I shouted angrily as I punched the nearest wall. I spun around and I managed to see Lilly flinch.
"Is your hand o.k.?" she asked as she cautiously made a step towards me. I sighed and filled the steps to meet her. I tilted her head and looked in her eyes.
"I'm sorry I scared you," I apologized then kissed her gently, "and yes my hand...well it hurts but that's what I get for punching a wall," I added making her laugh. I smiled when I saw her smile.
"What the hell happened?" Jonah asked as he entered the room.
"Ever heard of knocking?" I asked him.
"Nah, probably you can look it up for me," he said making me roll my eyes.
"You do know Hayden's gonna be mad about the wall, right? Ohh, and don't forget Maria," he said.
'Who's Maria?" Lilly asked me through our mind link.
'The helper around the place," I answered her, 'don't you remember her; short, light skin, grey hair, has a Mexican accent, picked up your pink bra the other day then waved it in your face while cursing you in Mexican, white---'
'I get the point, thanks' she said. I looked at her only to see her blushing like crazy. I laughed and wrapped my arms around her.
"Uhh...still here guys," Jonah said as he sat down. I glared at him.
"Why are you here?" I asked as I pulled away from Lilly (very sad, right?)
"I just wanted to ask if can borrow your phone?"
"Why do you need my phone?" I asked him as I went to pick it up.
"Do I have to tell you?" he asked like a whiny two year old. I laughed and looked at him.
"Yeah, you kinda do,"
He sighed dramatically, "Well, if you must know I need to call a hooker and I don't want them having my number," he said making Lilly laugh like crazy.
"What the hell?" she asked through her laughter. I laughed at the sight and turned to Jonah.
"Why good sir, I'm afraid I can't help you for I need not my phone being rung off by those promiscuous things," I said with my best British accent.
"Well, kind sir, I must find a cell phone to fit my...healthy and responsible needs," he said with a British accent as well.
"A shame, but I have none to help you with those...certain desires,"
"A pity, such a shame," he said then got down on his needs in front of Lilly, "why, good lady, can you assist me in such needs I have. You would be my hero...well, you're a girl so...my heroine!" he said and Lilly was trying not to laugh.
'You could never work in the dramatic work, Princess,' I said then she completely cracked up. I laughed along with her then looked at Jonah.
"Seriously dude, why do you need my phone?"
"I wanted to call---" he was about to say when my sister stepped in.
"Hey, James can I---" she said but stopped mid sentence when she saw Jonah, "what are you doing here?"
"I was looking for...can I talk to you downstairs for a minute?" he asked her instead. I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Yeah, sure I just came in looking for you because..." she was about to say but I cut her off.
"Wait, why were you looking for him in the first place? What's so urgent?"
"Well, we were gonna go---" she was about to say then Jonah decided to intervene.
"We were planning to go to the lounge downstairs,"
"Ahh, right we were...uhh we were planning to just watch a movie in the lounge," she said.
"Jen, don't lie to me. Where were you really going?" I asked my voice so stern it left no room for questions. She sighed and closed her eyes.
"We were gonna go to the movies, what's so wrong about that?" she asked innocently. I glared at Jonah. He looked at me as soon as she finished speaking.
"Don't give me that look, I know the rules," he said without thinking.
"What rules?" Jenna asked.
Well...we're in deep shit.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess. Sorry for the random tiny chapters. I structured and uploaded this as a series of scenes, some of which just didn't need to be very long. I could probably attach the "sub-scenes" to previous chapters, but that'd only be covering it up, so I'm not sure its worth it. Anyway if you find them annoying, let me know, and I'll put some more thought into it. I did, at least, make a point of always posting at least a thousand words on any given day (after I noticed the problem), which hopefully mitigates the problem.
