《Snatched》Chapter 20

"Ready Y/n?"
"Haha no."
"Yeah me neither." Sero smiled. The two of you had done some training together so you got to know him a bit.
Kirishima walked over to the two of you "Don't worry, you'll do great! Also, your hair looks really nice today Y/n."
"Kiri stawp."
Kirishima had made a point of complimenting you whenever he got the chance. You always denied complements on your physical state so this was his way of boosting your self confidence.
You were all waiting by the door to the center of the stadium listening to the loud cheers and shouts from the audience and Present Mic.
"This next group are no strangers to the spotlight! You know them from a recent vililan attack! Thant's right! It's the hero course students of class 1-A!"
Your class walked out onto the feild and you were taken back by how many people were in the stands. So many eyes watching every move you made.
"Uhh I didn't know there would be so many people." Izuku whimpered
"To many for my liking." you added
"I hope we are still able to give our best performance even though all these eyes are watching us." Iida remarked calmly. "I suppose it's just another aspect of being a hero we all have to get used to."
"Yeaaahh, Izu if we run now we can make it back before they see us."
"Good plan."
Before you could make a run for it Iida grabbed both of you by the arm and pulled you forward.
"We must do our best to represent our class, which means no running away."
"I agree completely." you nodded "Sprinting away is much more efficient, thanks Tenya."
He just sighed and continued to pull you along.
The rest of the classes were introduced and came to join you in the middle of the stadium.
There are so many people here that I have to beat. There is only one course of action.
You stood tall with your arms out straight. Denki noticed you and joined you in your T-pose.
"Y/n! Kaminari! what are you doing?" Iida asked, clearly embarrassed by you.
"Intimidating the competition." you answered simply.
Sero came over and joined your T-posing group as well.
A few of your school mates were staring at you, including a boy with a mop of purple hair. You saw him through the crowd and smiled brightly when he T-posed back at you.
Ah yes, a man of culture.
Midnight called everyone to attention and explained that Katsuki was going to make the student pledge because he finished first in the entrance test.
"Oh this is going to be good."
"What to you mean Y/n?"
"Just watch."
Katsuki refused to prepare anything for his speech so you knew he was going to say something very... him.
"I just want to say," he spoke into the mic "I'm going to win."
...
"ppppfffttt!" You smothered your laughter with your hand, you were not going to let him live that one down.
All of the students from the other classes started booing him and getting angry.
He single handedly ruined our reputation.
"Why would you say something so disrespectful to us all?!" Iida scolded him
"It's not my fault you are just stepping stones to my victory."
"Ugh, Kat that was not the right thing to say."
You could tell he was pushing himself by saying something so toned down, but he just made life a lot more difficult for your class.

"So arrogant."
You stiffened and slowly turned around, meeting the eyes of the one person who you hoped not to see.
He heard what I said before.
Shot- Todoroki heard me.
Shit
Before you were able to form words Midnight addressed the crowd. "Without further adieu it's time for us to get started!"
I need to stop thinking about this. He's trying to throw me off and I need to be 100% focused if I want to do well.
"An obstacle course!"
So that's the first round... I need a plan.
Midnight explained the rules while you were formulating a strategy that would help you succeed.
"Good luck Y/n."
"You too Izu."
Before you knew it you were lined up at the front of the exit waiting for Midnight to say go.
"Ready to lose extra?" you recognised the voice to be that of a spiky haired explosion boy.
You smirked and positioned yourself to run "In your dreams."
"BEGIN!"
Everyone ran forward at the same time, the tunnel was small but luckily you were at the front of the group so you didn't get pushed around too much.
You could hear Present Mic's voice booming over the speakers but elected to ignore it for the time being.
I don't need another distraction.
Suddenly you felt a cold breeze and immediately sprinted out of the tunnel. Ice froze the ground behind you trapping the other students. You simply jumped on top of it and glided ahead of everyone.
Ha called it
You heard your other classmates who had also evaded Todoroki's ice trap behind you.
"Good job guys!" you called out.
Sure you were in a competition and wanted to win, but what's the fun if there isn't a challenge?
You were ahead of almost everyone save for Todoroki, because of your quick reflexes. To be fair you were probably the only one who could predict his moves.
You looked further up the path and saw what looked like giant robots. Your classmates had talked about them a lot but you didn't do the entrance exam so you had never seen them before.
They were a lot bigger than you expected.
Bruh, these things are almost bigger than Katsuki's ego.
"Are those the zero point robots from the practical test!" you heard Denki exclaim from behind you.
Everyone seemed to be freaking out but you just kept your eyes glued on Todoroki.
"They obviously went through a lot of trouble but I wish they'd prepared something a bit more difficult." Todoroki started to use his ice "Especially since my dear old Dad is watching."
Your heart hurt for a moment, you had figured he was going through some stuff at home but it seemed to be worse than you thought.
Todoroki froze the bigger robots and started to run under it's legs.
Stop thinking about that Y/n, you don't have time for this.
You shook your head and dashed after him. You could tell he froze them off their balance on purpose and you didn't want to get crushed.
Right after you made it through the robots came crashing down. You stopped and turned around, worried that people could have been hurt. You glanced between the robots and the boy in front of you gaining more and more of a lead.
"I'm sorry."
You started running after him but stopped before you could get far, your conscience not letting you take another step.
"Fuck me! Why am I doing this!"
You ran back and searched for Ochaco's quirk. You had gotten a lot better at identifying your classmates quirks over the past few weeks. You found it and pulled taking only a small percentage.

You taped the two zero point robots the closest to your peers and floated them just far enough off the ground for someone to crawl out.
Then you turned around and sprinted, listening to Present Mic's voice boom over the speakers.
"That's Y/n L/n in second place! She had the opportunity to gain a huge lead but she instead saved two other students! Is she pro hero material already? What do you think?"
You heard a loud cheer explode for the stadium and you smiled. However, your joy was short lived, now you were far behind Todoroki and you had already done the thing you told yourself not to do.
Your master plan was to follow closely behind Todoroki and let him do the heavy lifting for you. You knew he would be one of the front runners and if he tried to get you off his trail you were familiar with his quirk so it wouldn't be a problem to fight back. The whole idea was to save yourself from using anyone's quirks and exhausting yourself too soon.
Ugh, it isss what it isss.
You were far enough away from Ochaco that you couldn't hold onto her quirk, immediately you felt the fatigue, you just hoped the students had enough time to crawl out.
You were still painfully far behind Todoroki but you had trained for this. Iida had made sure you were in excellent running shape so you 'were able to represent class 1-A.' He said that a lot but you had a feeling he had grown to like you at least a little bit, and wanted to help you out.
By the time neared the next obstacle you were only feet behind Todoroki.
You finally got a good view of what it was and your face paled.
There we a bunch of giant stone pillars connected by rope rising up from A BOTTOMLESS PIT!
You weren't particularly afraid of heights but you didn't overly feel like falling to your death.
Todoroki didn't even hesitate and jumped onto the roped using his ice to glide along. You could probably wait for someone with a safer quirk to use to get across but you didn't want to risk falling behind again.
Taking a deep breath you took a running jump and used Todoroki's ice, which was melting fast to propel yourself in the same way he did.
Some people might think you're leeching off of him and being lazy, but the pros who you were aiming to impress would know your movements were purely strategic.
About half was across, you could hear other students start to gain on you, Todoroki noticed too and started to move faster. You were struggling to keep up with the melting ice as it was and started to wobble as you moved quicker.
You had expected him to try and stop you from freeloading off of him already but you had a feeling he was too focused on himself and didn't want to waste any energy on you.
"Holly shit, holly shit, our lord and savoir kermit the frong please help me." you muttered under your breath sticking your arms out to keep you balance. You were really struggling to not.
You could hear Katsuki's explosions behind you he was getting closer fast.
He must be really fired up.
You glanced behind you to get a sense of how far away he was and you decided to do something that you knew you would most likely regret.
The moment you heard Katsuki's yells of anger close enough to you, you stopped gliding along and you jumped. You threw yourself off the pillar out into the open and hoped you had predicted corrently.
"KAT!" you screamed as he propelled himself towards you.
He gawked at you flying through the air and moved before he could stop himself. He grabbed the back of your shirt and flung you towards the other side of the obstacle effectively saving you from falling against his will and putting you in first.
You hit the ground hard and rolled to decrease the impact. You pulled yourself up quickly not stopping to catch your breath and kept running.
I can't believe that worked!
You had hoped that he wouldn't let you fall and you were right. The only issue was that now he was really angry.
"WHAT THE HELL Y/N!" Kat shrieked from behind you.
"I'M SORRY BUT THANKS KAT! YOU'RE GREAT!"
Present Mic's voice blasted through the speakers. "What an upset! Y/n L/n has taken first place by using Katsuki Bakugo as a catapult!? Is that pure luck or well a planed procedure?!"
You looked towards the camera beside the obstacle course and tapped your head to show that you had planned everything out. The audience roared with applause.
Ha! Suck it Shoto- I mean Todoroki.
You glanced quickly behind you to get and idea of where everyone was.
Todoroki had just gotten to the end of the second obstacle, you had a bit of a lead, and by the look of his face, he was not happy about it. Katsuki still had a bit to go but he was in close third. The rest of the students weren't close enough to be and issue so you just kept runing.
Your legs were starting to burn but because of all of your training you knew you would be fine if you just kept going.
I'll have to thank Iida again for helping me out.
You ran for a few more minuets keeping a safe distance from the boys behind you and finally arived at the last obstacle.
Present Mic came on the speakers to explain it to the crowd.
"And now the last obstacle! You'd better tread carefully because you're stepping onto a mine field! If you look carefully you can see where those little bombs are buried so keep your eyes on the ground folks."
You groaned, looked directly into the camera on the drone above you, and mouthed 'seriously'.
"Oh no! Looks like Miss L/n isn't excited for the explosive journey ahead of her."
You could hear laughter coming from the audience and from the speakers.
Don't laugh at me Shota.
You rubbed your face and prepared to get scared shitless. Conditioning yourself to be afraid of explosions to keep yourself safe from Katsuki when you were little was not coming in handy right now.
You braced yourself and stared moving.
Present Mic said something about the bombs not being lethal but you weren't listening, you were completely focused on your footing as you slowly hopped across the mine field.
You were so enveloped by not getting blown up, that you didn't notice other students gaining on you. You only glanced behind you when you hear a familiar explosion that came from an angry blond.
You were shoked to see both Todoroki and Katsuki right behind you fighting to get ahead of each other.
"Ah! Go away!"
You completely discarded going slow and steady and started sprinting away from them, trying your best not to step on any bombs.
Suddenly, a huge explosion shook the mine field. You stopped moving and saw a giant cloud of pink smoke rise from the ground. Riding the top of the debris was a boy with green hair clutching onto a piece of scrap metal.
"Izu?"
Before you knew it Izuku had flown over your head and had taken first place.
You immediately started running after him followed by Katsuki and Todoroki.
Katsuki blasted himself into the air and Todoroki made and ice path, obviously disregarding the fact he would end up helping others. You fell back behind him and glided along using his ice trying to save at least a little stamina.
I could be a professional figure skater at this point.
You jumped off the ice path and caught up to Todoroki and Katsuki. The three of you were neck and neck fighting to get ahead of Izuku.
He was literally right on top of you when you realized what he was doing.
It sure pays off to know people so well.
The same moment he threw the scrap metal down to cause an explosion to throw the three of you off, you grabbed hold of his leg.
The two of you were propelled through the air from the force of the blast but not far because there were two of you. Right before you hit the ground you flipped into a forward roll and ended up on your feet and running.
YES BITCH!
Sure you were dizzy and sore and just barley still running but you were in first!
You were aware of Present Mic shouting wildly at the stunt that was just pulled off, but all you could focus on was running.
Running as fast as you could.
Izuku was close behind you, as were Todoroki and Katsuki. The later two were using their quirks but you were still in first.
You thought back to watching sports festivals from past years and the winners of the first round.
They always looked so happy, but they never did well in the long run.
Why didn't they do well?
The four of you were right in front of the finish line but before you ran through you stopped just for a split second and then ran through.
"IZUKU MIDORIYA IS OUR CHAMPION!"
"In close second Y/n L/n!"
You skidded to a stop and braced your hands on your knees taking in a few deep breaths.
I hope I didn't give up that win for nothing.

As an author, I'd like to interact with my community and get ideas and what I can improve on. I'm not perfect and don't expect a masterpiece. I may have a bit of experience writing as a hobby, I make mistakes and my style is a bit rough around the edges. I hope you stick around and watch me build this story up. I don't have a predetermined schedule and the releases will be slow. Since I got college, my schedule is most likely 1-2 chapters a month but that shouldn't be that bad since I get some time to think about what I can write in the story. Again, my apologies for that. I hope I have your support moving forward and that you enjoy the characters and their journies.
