《Snatched》Chapter 28

As soon as you heard code names you turned to Shoto.
I have an ideeeeea!
Mr. Aizawa continued to explain what you would be doing. "This is related to the pro hero draft picks that I mentioned the last time we were in class together. Normally students don't have to worry about the draft yet, not until their second or third year actually, but your class is different. If fact, by extending offers to first years like you, pros are essentially investing in you potential. Any offers can be receded if their interest in you dies down before graduation though."
Oof
Hagakure spoke up "So what you're saying is we'll still have to prove ourselves after we've gotten recruited."
"Correct." Aizawa responded
I'm not surprised, nobody wants a lazy teenager as an intern.
You eyed Mineta.
"Alright, here are the totals for those of you who got offers."
A screen popped up showing names and numbers beside them and there your name was at the top of the list with 5000 offers.
"Excuse me, that is not correct." You stared at your total in disbelief.
Under your name were Shoto and Katsuki each with around 4000 offers and then the numbers dropped drastically with Fumikage only having 360.
"In past years it's been more spread out, but there's a pretty big gap this time." Aizawa stated.
"Y/n and Todoroki got more offers ahead of Bakugo?" Jiro remarked
Kirishima nodded "Yeah its the opposite of how they placed in the festival."
"They probably weren't too exited about working with the guy who had to be chained up at the end." Sero added pointing to Katsuki.
You cringed but to your surprise he took it fairly well. "IF I SCARED A PRO THEY'RE JUST WEAK!"
"Eh, good enough."
Katsuki glanced briefly in your direction but before you could say anything he just turned back around.
"Y/n, you received a phenomenal amount of offers." Momo grinned at you from the other side of Shoto.
"It's kind of hard to believe, I didn't really do anything special..."
"What are you talking about! You were amazing!" Ochaco grabbed your shoulders and shook you with tears in her eyes "People want us Y/n! They want us!"
"Despite these results, you'll all be interning with pros got it? Even those of you who didn't get any offers."
"Oh, so we'll all be interning?" Izuku asked
"Yes, you already got to experience combat with real villains during the attack on the USJ facility, but it'll still be helpful to see pros at work up close and personal, in the field, first hand." Aizawa explained. "These hero names will most likely be temporary, but take them seriously or-"
The door to the classroom slid open "You'll have hell to pay later!"
Midnight walked into your classroom causing a few pervy boys to go crazy. "What you pick today could be your code name for life. You'd better be careful or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent."
"She has a good point." Aizawa said grabbing his sleeping bag "Midnight is going to have final approval over your names. Its not my forte."
You snickered quietly "Eraser head."
He sent you a hard glare "The name you give yourself is important, it helps reinforce your image and show what kind of hero you want to be in the future. A code name tell people exactly what you represent, take All Might for example."
Ah yes, All Might the all mighty hero, you've really got to have brains to figure that one out.

Koda passed you a white board and a marker and it was at that moment you realized you had no idea what to call yourself.
Oh no, this is not good.
You looked around to see most of the people in your class were already coming up with things, even Shoto had something written down.
"Hey Sho I have a great idea for your hero name."
"What is it."
"Prince Zuko. I think it fits super well."
"But I'm not a prince."
You face palmed, of course he had never seen Avatar.
But it would've been so perfect! The scar, the daddy issues, the fire.
Before you had a chance to write anything down Midnight was already calling people to present their names.
Aoyama had the guts to go first "I am the sparkling hero... I Cannot Stop Twinkling!"
...
"Fabulous!" you exclaimed, earning a vaguely creepy smile from Aoyama.
Midnight shortened his name to Can't Stop Twinkling and more people presented their hero names.
Everyone has such cool names, most of them have something to do with their quirks...
Oh my god, I'm a genius.
You quickly scribbled down your idea and walked up to the front of the class.
"Okay everyone, I have no idea how you are all coming up with such amazing names but I had a thought, considering my quirk..."
You flipped your board around.
"Midnight, can I be Swiper from Dora?"
Your teacher sighed and few people started laughing. "No Y/n, you cannot be associated with a villain from a kids show who steals things."
"But why, I could get the mask and everything!"
Midnight shook her head "And what, would you be stopped when people said Swiper no swiping?"
"Yes! Exactly! I could only be stopped by people with taste who've watched Dora."
"I agree, you should let her be Swiper."
"Thank you Kirishima! See Midnight, Kiri is a man of culture."
"You cannot have the exact same name as a fictional fox Y/n."
"All in favor of me getting to be named Swiper please raise your hand."
Kirishima, Denki, Mina and Sero all immediately raised their hands in the air followed by Ochaco and Hagakure who seemed a little bit more hesitant.
"Come on, anyone else?"
"I'm sorry Y/n but Swiper would simply not be a suitable hero name." Iida reasoned.
"There you have it Y/n, majority rules, even though I have authority."
You huffed and erased your board with your sleeve "This is discrimination against Dora characters."
You slumped down in your seat, you had no idea for a name. Your parent's hero names were Nullify and Swipe which were basically the names of their quirks. You couldn't think of anything that would show what type of hero you wanted to be.
A few more people showed their names, Shoto deciding to just be call 'Shoto' instead of Prince Zuko.
A missed opportunity.
Katsuki walked up and showed his name to the class.
'KING EXPLOSION MURDER'
His name was obviously denied.
"Wait wait! Katsuki I've got one!" you yelled, "Sparky Sparky Boom Man!"
Denki, Kiri and Sero lost it, they started hysterically laughing while Katsuki yelled at you for being a 'Stupid extra'.
"Bakugo..." Sero said in between breaths "It's perfect!"
"I agree." Kiri managed
In the end your name for him was also denied because fictional characters were apparently a no no.
Tenya also used his actual name, you thought he would have thought of something more creative... like Sonic... or wanted something like his brother Ingenium.

Something's wrong, I can feel it.
"Alright, Y/n you are the only one left without a name, no more fictional villains please."
You walked up to the front of the class a second time.
"I really don't have a proper name in mind because I never really thought about it much. I think it would work best to only showcase one part of my quirk with my name so imma just go with Negate."
I think it sounds pretty cool... not as cool as Swiper though.
"Negate essentially means the same thing as nullify and I thought it would kind of work considering my fighting style."
"What's your fighting style Y/n?" Midnight asked
The yellow caterpillar in the corner turned around to face the class "To put it simply she either confuses her opponent by taking to them like they are either a friend or doing something stupid effectively causing them to forget what they're doing so she can take them out or just ends the fight before they have a chance to attack."
"If I'm being honest I really don't like fighting using hand to hand or with violence, I'm becoming a hero to save people not hurt them."
"That's very commendable Y/n, I like the name Negate, it's very modern."
You exhaled walking back to your seat, you were actually pretty proud of your hero name but if you got the chance to come up with a better one in the future you would.
"Now that everyone's decided on their hero names, we can go back to taking about your upcoming internships." Aizawa said sliding out of his sleeping bag. "They will last for one week. As for who you'll be working with, those of you who were on the board will choose from among your offers, everyone else will have a different list. You have a lot to think about, there are around forty agencies across the country who have agreed to take on interns from your class, each agency has a different specialty that it's hero, focus on, keep that in mind."
Yeah I don't want to end up with an agency where I do combat training all day.
"Think carefully before you decide."
Everyone received their list of potential agencies, your pile of papers wobbling because of it's height.
"This is fine, I can look through all of these, I'm fine."
"Turn in your choices before the weekend." Aizawa instructed walking out of the classroom for lunch.
"Oh.. so we have two days... fun."
At that moment your entire pile of papers toppled off your desk and onto the floor scattering everywhere.
"Nope I can't do it." you oozed out of your seat and onto the floor.
"Y/n you doing okay down there?" Kirishima asked trying to avoid stepping on your offers as he made his way over to you.
"No." you moaned picking yourself up and gathering your papers.
"I can give you a hand if you want."
"Really?"
"Yeah sure, we can do it in the cafeteria if you want, we can get one of the tables to ourselves and work on it."
"I'll come as well." Shoto appeared out of nowhere and started helping you with your papers.
Kirishima smiled tightly at him "Sure, the more the merrier." his voice sounded strained but you brushed it off.
The three of you headed for the door your arms full of papers.
"Where are you guys going?"
"Kiri and Sho offered to help me sort through my offers in the cafeteria."
"Can I come?"
"Sure Denki, anyone else?"
You had asked it as a joke but in the end you had gathered five people and you sat at a table with Kiri, Sero, Shoto, Denki, and strangely, Shoji.
You'd talked to Shoji a few times and he seemed nice, but you weren't exactly friends.
I'm not complaining but, why is he here?
Another oddity was that Kirishima looked pissed and you couldn't figure out why.
Maybe he's adopting Katsuki's anger issues.
"Alright team, thank you so much for helping me with this, I think it would be best if we went through and crossed out the agencies that focus on combat and fighting."
You all started scanning the papers silently so you decided to strike up a conversation with Shoji.
"So Shoji, I don't want to sound rude but why did you want to help me out?"
One of his arms raised and morphed into a mouth, a sight you were yet to get used to.
"I saw you were having trouble so I thought I could lend a few hands."
You inhaled deeply, trying not to laugh, what made it worse was that you made eye contact with Sero who had also caught the joke, which wasn't actually a joke, you cleared your throat to compose yourself.
"That's so nice of you, very heroic Shoji."
"Hey what about us?" Sero asked
"We're helping too you know." Denki whined
"I really appreciate it, but I mean look at him."
The multi- armed boy was flipping through the papers on the table with a pen in each of his many hands.
"He's got some skill." you nudged him slightly, unaware of the blush peeking out from under his mask.
You noticed that Kirishima was staying silent his lips pressed into a thin line.
I'll ask him about it later.
About half way through your piles, after having a full blown conversation about whether All Might used hair spray to keep his hair in his weird bunny ears, you leaned on Shoto putting your head on his shoulder. To your surprise everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at you seeming slightly annoyed.
"What?"
You realized that they weren't staring at you they were staring at Shoto.
You sat up strait. "Wait, what happened? I am confusion."
The boys glared at Shoto for another second before going back to their papers like nothing happened.
"Alright then?"
You glanced at Shoto who to your surprise was smirking.
Da fuk is going on?
You flipped through a few more papers casually talking about school work and how your life goal was to make Mineta into a squished grape on the floor, when you realised you had finished crossing out the combat agencies.
"Good work my dudes, and Shoto who doesn't like being called dude, how many do we have now?"
Sero looked over the mess of a table in front of you "A bunch, but not as many."
"Good enough! Lets clean this up before we have to go back to class."
Your helpers handed you the remaining papers which you shoved into your bag. You all walked back to the classroom while you made fun of Denki for somehow getting pen all over his face.
Before you walked into class you grabbed Kirishima by the arm and pulled him aside. Shoto stopped and gave you a look, but you waved him away.
"Hey Kiri what's up with you?"
He looked away from you "Don't worry it's nothing."
"C'mon Kiri what's uppp." you shook his arm
He didn't say anything so you kept shaking "If you don't want to talk about it it's fine but don't ignore meeeee-"
"I just..."
He grabbed you by the shoulders effectively stopping your shaking, and stared at you, studying every inch of your face and locking eyes with you.
"I wanted to spend time with you Y/n... alone."
You couldn't help but note that his red eyes had little flecks of gold and orange in them that you never noticed before, your heart beat started to speed up.
"Kiri," you breathed "Your eyes are absolutely fucking gorgeous."
He stood stunned for a second before letting go of your shoulders to use his hands to cover the blush that had spread across his face. "That's my line." he muttered
You shook yourself out of whatever trance staring into is eyes put you in.
"Woah, that was cool... also Kiri we can do something together if you want, sounds fun."
"Wait... are you serious?"
"Yeah, of course I am, I love hanging out with friends!"
