"AHHHH!!" The four boys screamed. This monster the Cloud Kingdom called "Nimbus" was chasing around the ninja. That monk, Fenwick locked them in here. Why? Unknown.
He may have had a certain whisperer secure his fate with the ghosts. While the ninja team's fate? It's all scattered.
"I don't think he likes you trying to break his record!" Kai yelled are Jay who was previously playimh pinball.
"There goes our good first impression." Cole sighed, jumping behind a pillar.
"Is this the Master Writer? He's in charge of our destiny?" Zane asked.
"Whoever he is, I don't think he's handing over the sword." Kai declared.
Jay ran to the door.
"It's locked." He deduced.
"WHY WOULD IT BE LOCKED?!" He shouted, banging on the door. Nimbus grabbed Jay and the strange electrical center shocked the blue ninja. Jay fell to the ground.
"Okay, so now I know how that feels."
The ninja scattered again from Nimbus's chase.
"Over here, big guy!" Kai waved, by a giant plush toy. It was at that moment he knew, he was being an idiot. Kai ran.
Nimbus stopped at the plush and stemmed to be distracted by it.
"Ah! Oh, you like your toys, huh?" Kai grabbed a smaller plush. Nimbus growled at Kai holding it.
"Stay, big fella, or I'll break it. Stay, stay. Hurry, find a way outta here." Kai told the others.
The other three ran around the room. Cole's hands phased through a plush.
"What am I doing? I'm a Ghost!" He walked through the wall.
"Oh, I'm such a dummy."
Cole ran to the door.
"You can hndo the locks!" Jay shouted through the key hole.
"I'm a Ghost, not a locksmith. I need a key!" Cole exclaimed.
"Be the key, Cole." Jay said.
"BE THE KEYY!!"
"Oh. Good idea!" Cole possessed yhr door, opened it and the ninja were free.
"You know, Cole. I'm starting to like you as a Ghost more and more." Kai said. Cole looked at his hands again.
"Look! Morro is here! With Fenwick!" The nindroid pointed.
"It's only him? No, Neran must be possessing him." Kai decided.
"Oh, traitorous Fenwick! I knew I didn't like that snob." Jay scoffed.
"Come on!" Cole shouted, flipping on his hood.
But you know the boys, forgetting things. Like locking the door that held a monster. Yep.
. . .
The young monk ran to the temple where the Sword of Sanctuary was being kept.
"The sanctuary is on the top floor." Fenwick directed. Morro bowed and walked in.
"Well, Neran. I hope you can live through stairs." Morro said.
"I don't know it thay's a joke, or not. I shouldn't respond either way." Neran said. In Morro's head, out of sight.
"Uh. Fingers tired. Legs about to give." Kai's voice complained from afar. The young monk looked over the railings on the pathway he stood on.
"Ow! Stop using my face as a foot hold!" Jay shouted.
"You're not making this any easier."
"You're alive!" The young monk exclaimed. The ninka reached solid ground.
"No thanks to Fenwick." Kai sighed.
"Fenwick's convinced there's no way to stop the Queen of the Cursed, so he's agreed to help the ghosts's plan only to help himself." The young monk explained.
"But he doesn't know you've escaped. You have to get the Sword of Sanctuary, or else Morro may not realize in time." He warned.
"Tell us where it is." Cole said.

"The tallest tower." The monk pointed.
"But you must hurry, Morro and Neran already headed there."
"Guess there's no time to take the stairs. You thinking what I'm thinking?" Kai asked.
"Airjitzu?" Zane, Kai and Cole said.
"Cyclondo?" Jay reached his hand forwards. The ninja groaned at Jay's return of the name.
"Why isn't it catching on?" The blue ninja pouted.
"Before we go, is there any cure for linked wisteria?" Zane queried.
"Unknown." The little monk said.
"But I can tell you the brother's situation with it. Morro and Lloyd are connected by the tea. And now, Neran's using the at connection to keep Lloyd unconscious." He said.
"They are connected..." Cole sighed.
"We have to get Neran to stop possession Morro." He said determined.
"Be careful, little monk." Kai said.
"You too." He said then running off.
"Ninja-go!!" The four exclaimed, jumping up an using the floating skiffs as resting places.
"Sorry! Just passing through!" Cole told one of the monks steering his skiff.
Morro had reached the top floor. The sword was on a single pedestal in the center of the room. A few decorative jewels hung from the ceiling.
"The Sword of Sanctuary." Morro said.
"Nice presentation." In the blade, the other four boys jumped through the window. Morro quickly raised his staff to his side. No one there. Morro lowered his weapon.
"I forgot that's what it does." Morro sighed. Neran appeared and grabbed the sword, turning to the window. The four ninja jumped through, Morro raised his defense. Neran deflected Kai's Aeroblade as the red ninja threw it, kicked Jay's away too. Cole ran behind and clashed his blade either Morro's staff. Neran jumped back from Zane's attack and used the hilt of the sword to knock the nindroid down.
"Cole, what happened to you?" Morro asked.
"Well-- I'm a ghost because someone took the scroll we needed and is now being a bit blind!" Cole shouted. Cole's feet were swept off the ground by Neran who had previously disarmed the other three.
"You didn't need to do that." Morro said.
"Well, what were you doing?" Neran grabbed Morro's hand and lead him out the window.
"Ow. What the heck? How did he do that?!" Jay got up and scooped up his blade.
"I don't know... Who was I fighting again?" Kai asked.
"Neran?" Jay replied.
"Felt like Morro." Kai said, getting his Aeroblade.
"Well, whoever's leading this, they have the sword." Cole got up.
"We have a big disadvantage." Zane rushed out the window. The others followed.
Kai slipped off the roof and Cole, then Zane too. Jay grabbed them and swung them back up.
"There!" Kai shouted.
"We need to have a talk with him and that kid!"
Neran placed the sword in Morro's hands.
"Take it. And jump... Uh, now." Neran said Morro jumped to the next roof, the ninja just missing him. Neran was nowhere in sight again. Morro placed the sword on his back. Blades aren't really his thing.
"I hate this sword." Kai sighed. Morro used airjitzu to jump to another roof but the others followed.
"Cyclondo!!" Jay called.
Morro rolled onto a roof as he landed and started to run. Where? Uh, he'll figure it out on the way. This past few day's has been throwing him off.
"Jump." Neran said.
"Pardon me?!"
"Just jump! Trust me!!"
"Okay!!" Morro jumped off the ledge and landed on a skiff where Bansha and Soul Archer were.

"How to heck did you get here." Morro asked plainly.
"We made a deal. The back door was open." Bansha said.
Morro looked back. Cole was turned into a ghost. And it was because they needes airjitzu to go after him? This happened because Morro just wanted to look. He should start listening to himself, and really listen to himself.
A scream came from Bansha. Like-- the eardrum bleeding scream. It was loud and horrid. Morro covered his ears. That's a bit you loud for him. The scream blew away the ninja from off the roof.
The four landed on a skiff.
"Still passing through." Cole told the driver.
"Uh, on second thought, mind if we borrow your skiff?" He rethought as the other got to their feet.
You'd think after all these massive battles, Morro could stand loud noises, but no. They were still shocking and loud. Morro looked at the ghosts surrounding him. He felt uneasy. He felt this easy before, but now, the feeling's more prominent. And dizziness. There's more of that too.
Soul Archer steered towards the Blind Man's Eye, where they had all came in.
"Aargh! How do you control this thing?" Cole shouted, barely keeping the skiff steady. Nimbus, remember that thing? Yeah, it's grabbed the skiff and pulled the ninja back.
"No, no, no!!" Jay shouted.
"Come on! Were loosing time!"
The little monk from earlier saw Fenwick walk out and smile at the ninja's set back. He panicked. The little monk ran into the writing room and searched for a scroll.
"Aha!" He pulled out the scroll and placed it on the nearest table.
"Fenwick... Let's change his destiny, shall we?" He monologued.
Nimbus turned to Fenwick. Oh. Poor guy. He started to get chassed. Okay, maybe not so poor guy.
And the ninja were on the chase again.
"Look! There!" Kai pointed to the Blind Man's Eye.
"Hold on to your buckets, gang. Looks like the ride ain't over yet!" Cole shouted as they spiraled down the cyclone.
Then, they were back in Ninjago, sliding down the snowy mountain.
"Ah! Why aren't we flying anymore!?" Jay shouted. The skiff,
Was speeding up and caught up to the ghosts.
"Haha! We made it right to you!" Kai shouted. Morro hesitated before lashing his left arm out, blowing the ninja away with a gust of wind.
"Obstacle detected. Collision certainty: 100 percent." Pixal analyzed for Zane.
"Abandon ship!!" Zane cried. Then, they crashed into a tree. Morro rushed to the back of the skiff to look back.
The ninja uses the crashed debris as skis, snowboards and sleds.
"Ah! Haha. Hello, haven't we met before?" Zane joked as he slid down beside the ghosts. Morro sat down and sighed with relief.
"Your ride is kind of slow, huh?" Kai gloated before he ran into a tree.
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!" Jay shouted, flying out before everyone's eyes.
"WHY DO.I GET THE UNCONTROLLABLE SLED?!!!" He screamed.
"Hold on, Jay!" Cole called, speeding after him.
Soul Archer aimed an arrow at Jay, but it flew coast his head.
"Ha! You missed!" Jay pointed.
"I never miss." Soul Archer reassured and the arrow turned around to chase after Jay. The arrow chased the blue ninja until it hit a wooden log. Jay sighed.
Morro tucked in a bit and drew the Sword of Sanctuary to see the blade. The golden blade reflected only his eyes and it's strange grey-green colour. He though about not doing anything anymore. His breathing became heavy.
. . .
T
he bounty team were still trying to pry information out of Ghoultar.
"What do you meant with my son?" Wu pressed his hands against a table. He was clearly agrivated about his family's situation right now. Ghoultar turned his head.
"You must answer me!" Wu exclaimed.
"Relax, Wu. We need a different aproach. Puffy Potstickers?" Misako walked in with the plate of food.
"Ghoultar not strong enough. Ghoultar want! Ghoultar tell everything!" He reached through the bars. Misako pulled away.
"Come in, Bounty! Come in! Hope your jets aren't cold, 'cause we're coming in hot!" Kai's voice came through the intercom.
"The ninja. Everyone to your stations." Wu instructed. Nya, Misako and Ronin followed orders and ran up deck, leaving the potstikers on the ground as well with... The keys.
"Morro has the Sword of Sanctuary." Misako noticed from the screen monitor.
"We know what's going on." Kai said.
"It's the ghosts who are looking for the tomb and what's in it: the realm crystal." He informed.
"Morro isn't searching for the tomb. He thinks he's looking for his heritage, his parents. He's being lied to." Kai added.
"The ghosts are trying to get the crystal to the Preeminent herself, probably to curse the realms. All sixteen of them."
"Then we must work together to bring Morro back and make sure that doesn't happen." Wu said.
"Nya, get us into the action."
"You heard what he said." The new ninja ran onto the deck.
"Why do you all run toward the action? We should be running away." Ronin asked.
"Let's see how you like these water balloons!" Nya shot the cannons. The two ghosts jumped back, Morro still sitting on the wood, and the water balloon hit Jay.
"Hey! Watch it!" Jay cried.
"Sorry!" Nya exclaimed. As she reloaded the cannon, Ghoultar attacked her and Soul Archer aimed an arrow at Nya. Ronin used his Aeroblade to deflect the arrow before it hits her.
"Good job, Ronin. But who's flying the ship?" Nya asked.
"That would be me, I guess." Ronin ran to the wheel.
Ghoultar jumped off the bounty to join the other ghost, and somehow slowed the skiff down. The skiff was in the air for a few seconds and Morro brought himself to his feet.
"How does that even work?" Morro questioned the weight of ghosts.
"Ghoultar likes Puffy Potstickers."
The bounty's anchor dropped down and Wu was on it.
"Need a lift?" He asked. Cole, Zane and Jay jumped on while Kai didn't.
"Go! Sensei, I'll have a talk with your son." Kai waved them off. The anchor lifted. Kai was determined to catch up.
Morro glanced at the blade in his hands and shouted, before ducking down. The ghosts took notice and ducked, avoiding Kai's Aeroblade, but not able to keep balance on the skiff. The mast on the skiff broke and Kai used it to climb up.
Kai flipped onto the boards and readied his blade.
"So, this isn't gonna go well. Because I'll probably lose. Don't kill me." Kai rushed in.
"I've lost sight of them!" Jay exclaimed.
"Keep following them!" Wu told Ronin. The bounty sped up.
Kai sliced the air, Morro jumping back. Kai advanced and Morro dodge rolled to the other side, putting Kai on the inside of the deck.
Morro thrusted the blade at Kai and his Aeroblade flew out of the red ninja's hand. Morro caught it and Kai tripped back, falling to the ground.
"You wouldn't attack me when I'm unarmed, right?" Kai asked. Morro pointed the Sword of Sanctuary at Kai.
"You need to look at him in the eyes." Kai's gaze narrowed.
"Then, you'll know."
Morro raised the Sword of Sanctuary. He switched the grip to back hand and stabbed it into the boards.
"Take it! Come on!" He threw the Aeroblade on the ground. Kai glanced at it.
"You better take it before I change my mind!" Morro shouted.
"You gonna come back?" Kai asked.
"... I- I don't.. Not right now." Morro said.
Kai quickly scooped up the blades.
"Okay, just a warning, 'cause I assume we're still friends, you're going to go down." Kai said.
"So, uh. Brace youself." Kai used his arjitzu and flew up to the bounty.
Morro felt the planks under his feet dissapear. They didn't disappear, it fell. The skiff had fallen over a cliff.
"AH!" Morro started to fall. He reached his hand up and hit the side of the cliff.
"I caught you. Again." Neran said, holding Morro's hand. Morro winced at the pull to his wrist. Neran hastily pulled the wind ninja up and they sat on the snow.
"Does that hurt?" Morro asked ad Neran sat down.
"No." The ghost quikcly replied.
"It's frozen."
Morro sighed.
"Kai's bad at warnings." He said. Neran turned to Morro.
"And you're only adequate at listening." He said, a frustrated expression on the usually hyper ghost's face.
"Now what are we gonna do?" Was... Was Neran about to cry? It sounded like it. Morro felt like he was gonna get it now. However, the ninja narrowed his eyes at the ghost in red and started to actually listen to his suspicions.
The team cheered as Kai brought the sword.
"How did you get it?" Nya asked.
"... He gave it to me." Kai replied.
"I think... He's waking up. Listening to my words." Kai exclaimed.
"Then let's defy destiny!" Cole shouted.
"If a child like Neran can do it, we can as well!" Zane exclaimed.
"Now, all we have to do if find the tomb." Wu said.
"Then, we bring Morro home."
"But, who knows where the tomb is?" Ronin asked. That killed the mood.
"Come on!!" Nya shouted.
"You all seemed do confident." Ronin said.
"Ugh." Nya sighed.
"You ruin everything."
. . .
"Why would you give the sword away?" Neran asked.
"This feels wrong! It's been creeping at the back of my head and come to surface now!" Morro exclaimed.
"That little monk said I needed to look you in the eyes, and I'll know. Than Kai said it again to me after that. I mean--"
Neran looked at the other ghosts, they had this arms crossed and glaring at Neran.
"I've hurt so many people I care about, is it really worth it to find people who didn't?!" Morro shouted.
Neran fidgeted with the cloth on his arm. His breathing became heavy. He hovered his hand over his chest.
"So... What are you saying?" Neran asked.
"This is going to stop." Morro answered.
"But..." Neran started.
"You can't go back now and--" He glanced at the other ghosts.
"I don't think I can either." Neran said. Morro's eyes widened at Neran's tone. It sounded like he wanted to cry again.
"Neran." Morro said. The boy didn't reply.
"Neran." Morro said again. He grabbed the ghost's crimson scarf and looked him right in the eyes. Neran looked scared, hurt, and angry among other things. He stepped forwards, disappearing from Morro's sight, just before the ninja's eyes closed and he couldn't completely open them.

"Hey! Open up!" I heard him bang on the door.
"What?!" I asked as I hastily opened the door.
"I'm gonna find who you are! Your parents, where you come from, everything!" He exclaimed with a smile.
"What?" I asked.
"I thought it would make you feel better. Help with your situation." He smiled.
"But--" he interrupted before I could say anything.
"It's your deepest wish, right?" He asked.
I paused. He turned to walk down the steps.
"Wait! Your arm hasn't healed yet!" I yelled.
"Besides, I don't need you to do that for me!" I told him.
He stopped and turned around.
"Morro." He said.
"It's my choice."

Wildling
Blurb: Silas--a scavenger living off the ruins of humanity--has spent his entire life fighting tooth and nail to provide for himself and his crew. But when a scavenging run goes awry and he's snatched up by an android patrol, he finds himself thrown into a cage and priced to sell as a pet. And when a suitor comes calling, he fears the worst: that he'll be turned into a Domestic, a human lapdog brainwashed into total obedience. Instead, he discovers an equally disturbing truth: that the creatures who stole his world have created a videogame the likes of which Earth has never seen; a sprawling, game-like theme park where humans are the Avatars and androids are the players who control them. And to make matters worse, his android guide is as hopeless as they come, having gotten all of her previous Avatars killed in record time. So if Silas wants to regain his freedom, he'll not only have to fight his way through a world that was specifically designed to murder him in brutal fashion--he'll also have to convince his android guide that he should be the one calling the shots. FAQS: Q: Who are you, handsome stranger? A: I'm Kyle Kirrin, the author of Shadeslinger, book 1 of The Ripple System, published by Portal Books, and I write crunchy LitRPG. Q: What is Wildling? And is it complete? A: Wildling is a crunchy LitRPG mash up of Fantasy and Science Fiction. And yup, Wildling is already complete at 64 chapters, or about 120,000 thousand words. You're looking at something like a third draft here--it's fairly polished, but it hasn't been picked over by a copy editor yet nor has my developmental editor seen it. Q: Upload schedule? A: 5 initial chapters today (2/15/2021) and one chapter a day for the next month. After that I'll probably slow down to 2 or 3 chapters a week until the story is complete. Q: How crunchy is it? A: It's pretty crunchy. I'd put it on the same tier as Ascend/The Land/RSSG, but it might be a bit crunchier than those three? Q: Is this the first book in a series or a web novel or what? And what are your plans for it? A: It's currently a standalone with series potential. Full disclosure: this story may head the way of my publisher eventually, but will be available on RR for quite a while no matter what. Likely several months after it's complete with plenty of warning before/if it's taken down. Q: What kind of build does the MC create? A: Sword and board! Q: Crafting? A: Plenty! Crafting isn't as center stage as it is in The Way of the Shaman, but it's close. Q: Base building? A: Two fully separate, distinct bases, both of which play a major role in the story. Q: VRMMO? Portal? Reincarnation or what? A: This one's a bit tricky. Basically an advanced race has created a game-like world that closely resembles a theme park. Think Westworld but with copious amounts of loot. And the MC has to fight his way through that to earn his freedom. Q: Permadeath? A: Nope! The MC gets 3 lives to play through the entirety of the game world, and death is extremely punishing, but not fatal. Q: Harem? Or romance? A: No and no. Q: Cursing? Blood? A: Quite a bit of cursing, yeah. There's blood, too, but it's not a gory book by any means. Q: How can I support? A: Instead of a Patreon/donations etc, I'd ask that you consider giving my debut LitRPG Shadeslinger a chance. It's free on Kindle Unlimited and the audio is already out narrated by Travis Baldree. It's an epic fantasy VRMMO where the main character gets 3 days of exclusive access to a new game plus a snarky, talking axe to guide him through it in exchange for agreeing to become the target of a serverwide manhunt once the Head Start period ends. Q: How's it similar to Wildling? And how's it different? A. The crunch level is very similar, but Shadeslinger is a much lighter, epic fantasy take on the genre. It's also VRMMO, but without any real world components aside from the first chapter. The MC is very different--he comes off as a bit of a jerk early on and can take a bit to warm up to, especially before his backstory is revealed--but he's also got a talking axe that constantly puts him in his place. Shadeslinger's a much more humorous story in general, and it's a great deal more polished as well. Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy Wildling!
