"I can make it. It's just a hop, skip, and a jump." Kai told himself. He tried to use airjitzu, but the tiles under him fell, making him crawl back.
"But what else comes with a hop, skip, and a jump?" Cole asked.
"You trigger one more trap, I don't know how much more we can take."
The clue clearly said this is a test a Spinjitzu Master cannot do. So why are we not listening to the clue!?" Jay screamed.
"Trust me, I can make it." Kai turned to the staff.
"Wait. What if it's a trick? What if the reason we can't do it is because we were never meant to reach the staff?" Cole suggested. "What is the first rule of being a ninja?" He asked.
"A ninja never quits." Zane said.
"Exactly, and that's why we can't do it." Cole exclaimed.
"Because a ninja would never give up."
What are you trying to say? We just quit? Are you insane?" Kai asked.
"This time, trust me." Cole looked down at the dark abyss. And he jumped down.
Cole!" The others shouted.
"Whoo-hoo! Haha! Come on down and enjoy the ride!" Cole's voice echoed.
"He's alive!" Zane exclaimed. Him and Jay jumped down to join Cole. Kai looked back at the staff and sighed. He jumped too.
Down there, they found a slide!
"Seriously? Try to stay together!" Kai shouted.
"Stay together? I'm just trying to stay in one piece! Aah!" Jay cried.
Oh, great. Aah!" Kai was flinged in the air and landed on Zane.
"Sorry."
Finally, at the end of the ride, the ninja landed in the third test.
"Is everyone okay?" Zane asked.
"What did we get ourselves into?" Kai sighed.
Jay climbed up the wall to see all the paths.
"Oh, it's a maze! I'm great at mazes!" Jau exclaimed.
Kai looked at his reflection.
"Huh! Whoa!" He was older.
"If my reflection means anything, I'm starting to think we won't be breaking out of this maze any time at all." Kai told the others.
"My reflection. Is that...me?" Zane asked.
"I look older, but our attire is different. I don't believe these reflections reveal our inability to escape, but a mere glimpse of our future selves." Zane informed.
"Misako said 'To move forward, don't look ahead.' Is that what it means?" Cole asked. He looked at a wall.
"Wait a minute, why is it I can't see my reflection? Where is my reflection?" He asked.
"It's probably because you're a Ghost." Kai said.
"Ghosts cast reflections, Kai. He's probably just looking in the wrong place." Zane directed Cole to another wall.
"I am looking at the same place you are." Cole said.
Hey, guys, guess what. I get an awesome eyepatch!" Jay exclaimed.
"And there's something else..." He gasped. Nya. She's in the reflection with Jay.
What, Jay? What is so great that you see that I clearly cannot?" Cole semi snapped.
I end up with Nya." Jay whispered.
"N-nothing. Just an eyepatch." Jay said to the others. Cole walked to another wall.
"Wait a minute, I think I see me." He said as a faint figure approached where Cole was. It wasn't him. He knew when he saw the outline of the Sword of Sanctuary. Cole backed up.
He tapped the others.
"Look." Cole whispered. The others took notice.
"Morro." Kai silently said.

"Okay. Let's breake the wall." Kai said.
"Three... Two... ONE!!" The four ninja ran at the wall and it broke. Neran on the other side jumped back at the sound.
"You have to stop!" Zane cried. Neran drew the sword.
"He's blindfolded?" Jay took notice.
"I don't want to see the future!" Neran shouted. The ninja were surprised because it was Neran's voice and Morro's body.
"Makes you do things to make sure it does or doesn't happen." Neran gripped the sword.
"Mmm...." Jay looked to his left at a crystal spike and broke it off as a make shift sword.
"Now, I'm not sure about fighting someone blindfolded, but you're using my friend!" Jay shouted. He raised his blade.
Neran luckily blocked the strike and pushed Jay back. Neran stumbled back and ran.
"Wait!" Jay ran after him.
"We're coming, Jay!" Kai shouted and started to run after him. As they ran there were two paths. Kai ran down the left. Zane stopped due to Pixal telling him.
"Not that way!" Zane exclaimed, but Kai already ran ahead.
"Ah..." Zane sighed and turned around.
Jay chased Neran but they were nearing a dead end.
"Hey!!" Jay reached out and grabbed the green cloth, pulling it off Neran's eyes in the process. Neran came to a stop and quikcly shut his eyes before fully looking at his reflection.
"Give it back, please." Neran said, his hand on the wall and turned towards Jay.
"Still won't open your eyes?" Jay asked.
"Give it back, please." Neran said again.
"Why won't you open your eyes?!" Jay shouted.
"I won't! I don't want to see the future!" Neran exclaimed.
"You won't open your eyes, I won't fight you." Jay said.
"So let Morro go."
"Jay!" Zane shouted, raising his fists to attack.
"Zane wait! He won't open is eyes!" Jay cried. Neran raised the sword to block Zane.
"Why are your eyes closed?" Zane asked as Cole walked through a wall and joined the group.
"I don't want the future. I don't want to see it. I don't want to see who falls!" Neran pushed Zane back.
"Who falls?" Cole asked.
"Now come on. And please give that cloth back!" Neran ran at the first person he heard and thrusted the blade forwards.
"Woah!!" Jay shouted and jumped back. He blocked Neran's attack.
"H-hey, I can't do this if you don't open your eyes!" Jay exclaimed.
Kai ran up to the fight. He saw that everytime a crystal spike was cut, more grew in place.
"Ah!" Kai pulled Jay away from the fight.
"Stand there, wait, give me this." Kai took the green cloth and told Jay his plan. Jay nodded and told Zane. Kai told Cole.
"Okay, Neran, you want this? I-I'm over here!" Kai shouted. Neran stepped back towards Kai.
"Now!!" Kai shouted, the four ninja sliced down the spikes and imcased Neran inside. The young boy covered his head as he ducked from the sound.
"Open your eyes now. You're not near any wall." Jay said. Kai quickly ran up to Neran.
"Here. I don't know what this is, but take it." Kai gave it back, then ran back to the ninja.
"Okay, how do we get out of here?" Cole asked. Jay tripped in his path.
"To move forward, don't look ahead." Cole recited.
"Don't look ahead... Look below!!" Jay shouted, a blue glow emiting from the cracks in the ground.

"There's light! Everyone, dig!!" Kai exclaimed, and the ninja started to.
Soon, they fell down into a new part of the cave. A cliff hung over a stream and at the bottom platform, a resting place. The ninja rushed down to the resting place.
"It's him..." Kai said.
"The First Spinjitzu master..."
The four bowed their heads to him.
"The realm crystal." Zane pointed to his hands. He carefully took it from the master's hands.
"So, what now?" Cole asked.
"Now, you give me that crystal."
The ninja turned around. On the ledge, the cliff before the resting place of the FSM, Neran. He had his right hand holding the sword to Morro's neck, and the other behind Morro, the ninja couldn't see where. The green cloth was back around Neran's arm.
Morro looked drained of energy, like he could barely move.
"Morro!" The ninja cried.
"I'm sorry." The wind ninja said, his voice breaking.
"What are you doing?" Jay yelled.
"Waiting for you to give me that crystal." Neran replied.
"Unless you want something to happen to Morro here. He has nothing to fight back with." Neran kicked down a small metal cylinder. Morro's staff. Jay ran to pick it up.
"We will not give you the crystal!" Zane exclaimed. Neran closed his eyes and tightened his grip.
"A-argh!! Aaaah!!" Morro yelled.
"Kh..." Neran gritted his teeth.
"Stop it! What are you doing?" Jay cried.
"It just so happens, I know Morro's weak point." Neran said.
"His wrists. That must be what Neran's holding onto." Cole concluded.
"So what's it going to be?" Neran asked.
Kai gripped the crystal. The team went into a huddle.
"What do we do?" Jay asked.
"It is a difficult decision." Zane said.
"The crystal, or Morro?"
"He would want us to chose the crystal." Kai added.
. . .
Misako looked in the spy glass out yo sea.
"Why so concerned?" Wu asked.
""Their ship went behind that rock five minutes ago but still hasn't passed." Misako said.
"Raise the sails. Now!" Wu instructed.(
The ghosts' ship sped towards the bounty team. Soul Archer drew his bow back and fired.
"Nya! If that arrow ghosts the Bounty, there won't be much to stand on." Wu said. Nya raised her hands. Slowly, a wall of water from the sea rose with her.
"Hurry, Misako. I said raise the sails!" Wu exclaimed.
"Not Misako, only Bansha!" Bansha said, possession Misako through incantation.
. . .
"Argh! This is so frustrating!" Cole clenched his fists. A slight orange aura glowed and little pebbles lifted off the ground.
"Cole... Your powers...!" Jay pointed.
"Ah! Neran isn't possessing Morro now! Lloyd must be awake!" Cole said.
"We're slowly recovering our powers!" Kai silently exclaimed, creating a small flame.
"Argh. But what good is it now?" Jay sighed.
"Kai... What do we do?" Zane asked. The ninja faced Kai.
"Guess it's your choice, Kai. Hurry up and make it. I don't want to hurt Morro any more than I need to." Neran said.
"Uh.. I- what- I..." Kai stuttered.
"Come on, I don't want to keep up anything here!!" Neran yelled.
"I'm thinking!" Kai shot out.
"Neran. Stop this please." Morro quietly said.
"I- I ca-- I don't wan-- I-." Neran couldn't think of how to say this.
"If I go back--"
"You can." Morro said.
"I'll give you a reason."
"Me." Morro softly stared up. Neran avoided Morro's gaze.
"Well, I don't have a choice, really." Neran said.
"You do. You always do. You said so yourself." Morro quietly said. Neran wasn't sure he could find words to respond. All he could shout was:
"Kai!"
"Alright!!" Kai jolted. His hands heated the bottom of the crystal.
"Alright. You can take the crystal." Kai turned around. Neran set Morro down gently and switched what hand the sword was in.
Kai threw the crystal at the ghost. Neran caught it, but the heat got through.
"Aah!" Neran let the crystal go, and it headed towards the stream.
Morro used the strength he had and ran after the crystal, jumping down to follow it.
"Morro!" Neran yelled as the ninja spalshed in the water. It wasn't a well thought line of action. Morro began to glide along the stream.
. . .
More arrows came towards the bounty. Nya was having trouble keeping the wall of water up while Wu was busy with a possessed Misako. What is it with this family and getting possessed?
"I can't keep this up!" Nya exclaimed.
"Bansha is controlling her, and I can't remember how to stop the spell." Wu jumped back.
"How's this for a refresher?" Nya extended one hand out and the water followed, spraying Misako with water. "Uh, what just happened?" Misako held her head. A bit anticlimactic, but okay!
The ghosts weren't paying attention and crashed into a rock.
. . .
Neran jumped down to try and run there. Morro floated to the top just barely able to keep his head above the surface.
Zane and Jay fired up their powers. The fight began. Zane blasted ice at the sword, but Neran glanced to see it comming and stepped aside, leaving the ice to shoot at Kai. The fire ninja was able to melt the ice before it reached him, then jumping away.
"Forgive me!" Zane exaimed. Kai nodded at him.
Jay sparked up his hands and pushed forwards. Neran grabbed Jay's hand and directed his attack up, and slashing the sword out to make Zane step back.
Neran grabbed Jay's wrist and pulled it over, flipping Jay above and towards Zane.
"WOAH!!" Jay shouted, barely landing safely. Cole kicked high and Neran used the hilt of the sword to hit Cole's back and push him away, running around him.
Zane and Jay grouped together and raised their stances.
"We'll keep him at bay, you get Morro!" Zane yelled at Kai.
Morro reached his hand out to try and grab the ledge. No avail.
"He won't be able to stay a float for too long!" Cole exclaimed.
"I can't get to him! I can't swim!" Kai reminded.
"And I can't touch water!" Cole exclaimed.
Jay and Zane we're fighting off Neran. He swung the sword of sanctuary at Zane. The nindroid was able to keep the sword in a hold between his hands, slowly incasing the blade in ice.
"Nice, Zane!" Jay shouted.
Jay sparked his hands. Neran heard the electricity crackle and let go of the blade, using the small time he had to kick it up and out of Zane's hold. Neran ducked down avoiding the attack and Jay accidentally hit Zane with his lighting, knocking him down. The thin ice on the sword broke as the blade hit the gray stone floor. Neran grabbed it and ran ahead.
Morro's head was under water. He hasn't tried to come up.
"Oh, I'm gonna regret this..." Kai jumped into the water. He reached Morro and pulled him up to the best of his abilities.
"Oh, come on! Why can't I just have a break!" Kai yelled. Up ahead was a waterfall. Cole ran to the ledge.
"Grab my hand!" He shouted. Just as Kai and Morro were about to fall over, the red ninja was just able to reach Cole's hand. Jay and Zane ran to help them up.
The layed Morro down, he started to cough. He was fine.
"The crystal..." Morro leaned onto his arm and reached out his hand. The crystal fell over the waterfall ledge. Morro just got a hold of the crystal and started to pull it up with the remaining wind he had.
Just before it reached the ninja, Neran jumped in and grabbed it.
"Thank you." He slighty turned to Morro with a small smile. Neran pointed the crystal forwards and a blue glowing portal apeared. He jumped in it.
"No!... He got the crystal!" Morro said.
"But we have you." Zane said.
"You shouldn't have chose me! After everything that happened, you should've left me!!" Morro shouted. Kai slapped Morro in the heat of the moment. Everyone went quiet and Kai shook his hand.
"Sorry." He said.
"But you needed to shut up, so... We're your teammates. We've all made dumb mistakes that put each other at risk. I certainly have, but wow, I'm still here!" Kai exclaimed.
"So there was no way we were gonna abandon you." He finished.
Neran landed outside as the sun was setting. Neran saw the ghosts almost about to touche the water. Neran looked at the crystal in his hand and the water below.
"Boy! Use the crystal!" Soul Archer shouted. Neran started deeper in thought into the water. He looked back.
"Don't think that what you do will let you out! We can always bring you back!" Soul Archer said. Neran froze. He even forgot to breathe. He shakily held out the crystal and created a portal. The ghost left.
"They took the Realm Crystal." Nya said, looking at the blue glow.
"What happened to Morro? Is he okay?" Wu asked, anxiously. Nya looked at where Neran had ran out.
"They made it! All right!" Nya shouted as the four ninja walked up, Morro helped by Kai.
"He's safe! They brought him back!" Wu exclaimed.
"What's gonna happen to Ninjago?..." Morro said.
"Worry about yourself right now." Zane said.
"I did, and look what happened." Morro quikcly responded.
"You're fine now. And, I'm guessing you know Lloyd is too." Cole said.
"Minds linked and stuff..."
Morro sighed.
"Yeah."
"But, we have you guys back, and our powers." Jay said.
"You get stronger, we do too." Cole walked in front of them.
"And they haven't even seen us at full strength!" Cole, Kai, Zane and Jay fired their powers into the air.
Morro lowered his head. And gasped for breath. This hurt. In more ways than one.

His eyes had turned bloodshot and his hands shook with rage. “The first thirty…” “Shut up!” Genzo bellowed “How dare you help these disrespectful gaijin?” Flecks of spit and madness flew from his face, his fist raised ready to strike. But Emi did not flinch, instead she was about ready to continue when Yuma Takeuchi interrupted her. “Uchida, please,” her sweet sounding words could melt ice. “I think we will have a better chance of getting home if we all work together.” When she glanced up with her sleepy looking eyes at Genzo Uchida he deflated visibly. “Were not getting home.” Uchida said coolly. “Group summoning, large, that puts us in the 60 series. No one came to greet us after five minutes of arrival. That leaves scenarios 68 and 69. In scenario 68 there is something that binds the large group together; they are all classmates or a single family. But thanks to the gaijin” he spit out the word “I think we are scenario 69 with no way home.” Ikko Inoue’s eyes went wide, while Katsukno and Hayata started muttering to themselves. Tim took on a serious look and rubbed his scruffy chin. Emi maintained her stoic expression while trying to find something to refute. McKenzie glanced at Randall and giggled. Randall took the prompting of his teammate and followed up by approaching Genzo. “Uh, so we are in a sixty-nine?” “Yes.” Replied Genzo with the seriousness of someone who’s life was about to end. McKenzie covered her mouth and snickered. “You and me, were stuck in a sixty-nine situation?” Randall pushed with a grin. “Yes, we are all stuck in a sixty-nine scenario together!” Genzo retorted in anger. McKenzie fell on her butt laughing. “What the hell is so funny?” Demanded Genzo, whose face had turned red. “It’s a problem with the automatic translation.” Retorted Tim. Randall, who seemed unable to quit started in again “So, about this sixty-ni…” Genzo interrupted Randall with a swift punch to the face. But, because of their height difference it was a bit of an uppercut that left Randall rattled. Tim and Ikko moved to step in between the two, but Genzo showed no further hostility. Instead he just stared at his clenched fist with such intensity it grabbed the attention of the room. “I unlocked a skill.” He said bluntly. ***************************** This is not a light novel, but people who like light novels should enjoy the themes of this book. ***************************** A Map of the Region
