Imam Ali (as) said, 'Shaytan worshipped Allah (swt) for seventy thousand years.

When Allah (swt) created Adam (as) and blew soul into him, ordered Angels & Shaytan to prostrate before him. All of them obeyed Allah except Shaytan who said, 'You created me from fire and him from Clay! Therefore, I'm better than him and I won't prostrate before him.'

Allah (swt) said to him, 'Leave my Heaven, you're one of the rejected ones.'

Shaytan replied, 'I worshipped you for seventy thousand years and you said that, 'whoever worships me, I will reward them.'

Allah (swt) said to him, 'I'll grant you anything that you want in the world.'

Shaytan said, 'First of all, let me live till Judgement day.'

Allah (swt) said, 'Until a certain day, I'll let you live.' (Certain day means at the time of reappearance of Imam Mahdi (a.j). That is when Shaytan will get destroyed and earth will be filled with peace and justice.)

Shaytan continued, 'Second, for every human that is born, grant me two children so that I can get my children to try and deceive them.

Third, I want for us [His children, Shayateen] to remain invisible to humans while we can see them.

Fourth, I want you to grant me the power of being able to transform to anything that I want & go anywhere that I wish.

Fifth, I want to be present at the time of humans dying moments when the Angel of death comes to take their soul, so I can begin my insinuating whispers & try to deceive them till they become infidels!

Sixth, I want you to let me stay inside the chest of children of Adam so I can do my insinuating whispers (waswas).'

In the end, Allah (swt) said, 'I'll grant all of your wishes, but whoever follows you, will join you in Hell fire which is a terrible place.'

Shaytan said, 'By your honor and glory, I promise to deceive all of them, except those who're your sincere Servants, the rest are my servants. Then he continued, 'Now that you've ordered me to leave, let me know where I can stay.'

Allah (swt) said, 'In bathrooms and places where people come and go.'

Shaytan asked, 'What should I eat?'

Allah (swt) said, 'Everytime, people don't say my name before eating, sit and eat with them, they're like hungry & greedy animals who don't say:

《بسم الله》

(In the name of Allah)

before their meals.'

Imam Baqir (as) said, 'Everytime you forget to say in the name of Allah before your meals, say it at the end so Shaytan throws up whatever he ate.'

Shaytan continued, 'I need water.'

Allah (swt) said, 'Your water will be liquor.'

Then Shaytan said that he needs to have a book. Allah (swt) said, 'Your book will be tattoos that people draw on their limbs and books about sorcery & magic.'

(Shaytan was the one who taught humans sorcery & magic.)

Shaytan said that he wants to have sayings. Allah (swt) replied to him, 'Your sayings are lies that people say and whoever tells a lie is narrating your saying.'

He then said, 'I want to have a trap to use and something to hunt with.' Allah (swt) said, 'I made women the instruments to hunt men with.'

One day, When Prophet Muhammad (saw) was going somewhere, he saw Shaytan on the way who looked very upset and asked him the reason behind his sadness to which he replied, 'I'm upset with you and your Ummah!'

Prophet asked, 'Why are you upset with me?' He said, 'I work so hard to deceive people, but in judgement day you'll intercede for them and all of my hard works will go to waste. That's is why you're my enemy and I despise you!'

Prophet (saw) asked, 'Why are you upset with my Ummah?' Shaytan replied, 'It's because your Ummah have characteristics that previous people didn't have.'

First: 'When they see each other, they say assalamu alaikum; The kind of greeting that is the name of Allah (swt) and I'm scared of this name!'

Second: 'Whenever they see each other, they shake hands and before withdrawing their hands, all of their sins will be forgiven.'

Third: 'They say In the name of Allah before their meals and I can no longer eat with them which leaves me hungry.'

Fourth: 'After finishing their meals, they say Alhamdulillah.'

Fifth: 'Whenever they hear your name, they say Salawat loudly which has a lot of rewards.'

Sixth: 'They say Inshallah for their plans and works which then prevents me from causing them problems and stopping them.'

Seventh: 'They give charity which causes their sins to be forgiven & prevents seventy-two misfortunes.'

Prophet (saw) said, 'When a person takes out some money from their pocket to give for charity, seventy shayateen grab their hand to stop them so they change their mind.'

Eighth: 'They recite Quran, and in houses where its people read Quran, I can no longer stay there since Angels will go there.'

Ninth: 'They curse me a lot and it leaves a wound on my body, and until I deceive the one who cursed me, these wounds won't heal.'

Tenth: 'After committing sins, they beg for forgiveness straight away and my work goes to waste.'

Eleventh: 'After sneezing, they say Alhamdulillah.'
