✦⋆· said, "Good nature is half of religion."

● "Good nature establishes love."

● "Verily a servant will definitely reach high ranks and honourable stations in the Hereafter, through his good nature, even if he is weak in his worship."

●"Verily the one with a good nature has the same reward as the one who fasts and prays during the night."

● "Verily Allah loves high moral virtues and detests poor manners."

● "Nothing will be heavier on the scale of deeds than good nature."

● "The most beloved and nearest to me on the Day of Resurrection will be the most good-natured, and the one who is most humble."

● "The believers with the most perfect faith are those who are the most good-natured."

● It was said to the Prophet (saw) that, "Such and such a woman fasts during the days and stands for prayer during the nights, but she is ill-natured and insults her neighbours with her tongue."

The Prophet (saw) then said,

"There is no good in her, she is of the people of Hellfire."

✦⋆· said, "The distinguishing feature of a believer is his good nature."

● "Live amongst people in such a manner that if you die they weep over you and if you are alive they crave for your company."

● "Good naturedness is the fountainhead of every goodness."

● "Good naturedness is found in three things: abstaining from the forbidden, seeking the lawful and providing peace and comfort for your family."

● "Giving greetings comes from beautiful character."

● "I urge you towards the most noble traits for verily they are exalted and possess a high rank, and beware of [adopting] vile traits for verily they derogate noble people and destroy the famous and celebrated."

● "The best noble moral traits are the pardoning by one who has the upper hand and the open-handedness of one who is himself in need."

● "The most eminent moral traits are humbleness, clemency, and leniency."

● "Anyone who has been granted four attributes will not be deprived of their (four) effects;

One who prays to Allah and implores to Him will not be deprived of granting of his prayers;

One who repents for his thoughts and deeds will not be refused acceptance of the repentance;

One who has atoned for his sins will not be debarred from salvation,

And one who thanks Allah for the Blessings and Bounties will not be denied the increase in them.

The truth of these facts is attested by the Holy Qur'an As far as prayers are concerned.

He says, 'Pray to Me and I shall accept your prayers.'

About repentance He says, 'Whoever has done a bad deed or has indulged in sin and then repents and asks for His forgiveness will find Allah most Forgiving and Merciful.'

About being thankful He says, 'If you are thankful for what you are given, I shall increase My Bounties and Blessings.'

About atonement of sin, He says 'Allah accepts the repentance of those who have ignorantly committed vice and then soon repent for it, Allah accepts such repentance, He is Wise and Omniscient."

✦⋆· , when asked about the best virtues, said, "Patience and magnanimity."

✦⋆· when he was asked about the meaning and bounds of good naturedness, said, "Be lenient, make your words pleasant and meet your brother joyfully."

● "Verily Allah - Blessed and most High - distinguished the Prophet (saw) with moral traits, therefore examine yourselves and if you find them within yourselves, then praise Allah and beseech Him for an increase in them", then the Imam listed ten of them, "Conviction, contentment, patience, thankfulness, clemency, excellent character, liberality, self-respect, courage and valour."

● Imam Sadiq (as) was asked about noble moral traits, to which he replied, "Pardoning someone who has oppressed you, repairing broken ties, giving to the one who has deprived you, and speaking the truth even if it is against yourself."

● "Good nature melts away mistakes just as the sun melts away ice."

● "Verily ill nature spoils one’s deeds just as vinegar spoils honey."

● "Verily the noble moral traits are all connected and linked to each other."
