Summer can be both an opening for new experiences and one of the most fun times in a person's life. For me, it was both of those things. The year of 2016 was filled with heartbreak and love and finding myself and recreation. I came out as pan and as agender, I was kicked out and unaccepted. I was beaten down and had some of the worst moments happen. I've had nights where I could barely muffle the sobs coming from my own body. But I've also had times where I twirled with friends in meadows, where we weaved dandelions into our hair and sang songs and smiled. Where we drank got chocolate from mugs bigger than our hands. I had my heart broken and I've broken hearts. I've made people cry and as I type this I'm crying myself. I am not accepted, I am not loved, although I do now live with my family. I am wearing color to school tomorrow for the first time since freshman year. Because I am strong. The sun still can rise through a rainy day. This past week has been some of the highest points of my year and some of the lowest and I'm so tired of having to put on a fake act for people. I'm so afraid, but I am ready. Tomorrow I will wear color. Tomorrow I will be myself. And I will begin to be happy. I will begin the journey.
