《The Curious Case of Danielle Parker》nine

"Okay, so wait, we don't include that?" I groaned, circling a value on the sheet in front of me. I was really struggling to concentrate on much, and could hardly grasp the requirements of what the project was even asking us.
"No, we do. It just goes over here, to deal with later," Estelle explained calmly. This felt like she was tutoring me, instead of us working together. She didn't seem to mind though, laughing kindly at my frustration and explaining everything very calmly. This girl was like some kind of saint.
Suddenly, my heart started pounding and my vision went blurry for a moment. "Woah," I muttered dropping my pencil and rubbing my eyes. In the strangest coincidence known to the universe, a few seconds later footsteps approached the room, and we were no longer alone.
"Levi, didn't know you were home," Estelle said cheerfully.
Eyes slowly clearing, I spun around and sure enough, he was there. That's when I realised there was probably something wrong with me, because I wasn't on drugs anymore, and this marked the third time seeing him and the third time where my body had gone into some kind of frantic panic mode.
I was painfully aware of how fast and shallow my breathing was, how pathetic I must have looked. And yes, he still looked like the bloody sun. Although, not in the bright 'your presence and beauty is burning my eyes' way... more in a 'wow I feel like a bug drawn to the light' kind of way.
I would never admit it, but for some reason well beyond me, I wanted to run to him. That's when I knew I was being insane. I closed my eyes, shook my head and took a deep breath. Enough, Danni. He's just a very good looking boy. You're better than that.
He paused momentarily in the doorway, locking eyes with me until I managed to drag mine away. Smirking slightly, but also looking like he was in mild pain, he kept walking towards the kitchen.

"Just working upstairs. Feeling better, Danielle?"
Strange things were happening inside me, and I was struggling to hold myself together. Sort your shit out Danielle. I didn't trust myself to speak just yet, so I nodded and made some strange attempt at a smile. This was so cliche.
Estelle looked at me in amusement, and I groaned, going bright red.
"Sorry, I'm actually feeling kind of weird. Must be whatever that bug was," I managed to get out. My voice was high pitched and fast, and I winced as I spoke.
"Must be. Levi, can you get her some water please?" Estelle sung out, not sounding very concerned at all.
Within seconds I had a glass of water placed in front of me. Levi took a few steps back, leaning back against the kitchen counter, arms crossed against his chest.
You're staring Danni.
He really was beautiful though. Tall, well built and strong, you wouldn't want to get on his wrong side. His face had similar chiseled, defied features as his sister's, but there was something different about him, and I couldn't place my fingers on it. His face looked guarded, and there was a small crease between his eyebrows, indicating concentration or something.
We were interrupted from my psychotic episode and internal freak out by the front door slamming and another person walking into the house.
"....I'm home! Guess what, today Mrs Trent said my creative writing was so good that she could almost feel me changing and running through the forest! I got an A, and- oh." A voice trailed, getting louder and louder until the person it belonged to appeared in the room.
"Oh," she said again, eyes widening. She looked nine, maybe ten, and was almost the spitting image of Estelle. Younger sister. I was quite proud of myself for figuring it out, despite my brain turning to mush around something as trivial as a boy.
Her big eyes were staring at me. Suddenly, a huge smile stretched across her face, and she glanced back and forwards at her siblings. They were frozen, looking slightly alarmed. I'm not sure why, she looked harmless. My heart melted, she was adorable.

"I'm Georgia!" she chirped, putting her bag down.
"Hey Georgia, I'm Danni. Congratulations about the story, it sounds awesome," I smiled, happy my voice was sounding slightly normal again.
Her eyes sparkled and she walked closer into the room. "Thanks! Estie says I can be a writer when I'm older if I work hard enough."
I grinned at Estelle, who was gazing at Georgia proudly. "Promise you'll autograph your first book for me?"
"Deal! Hey I like your hair, I wish mine did that," she said, spinning around and grabbing an apple out of the bowl on the bench.
I laughed self consciously. I don't know why a girl with a perfect head of golden hair would want mine - it was dark brown, half straight, half wavy and fully boring. "Well I like your hair."
"You both have great hair," Estelle said, launching into the conversation. "Awesome work at school kid." She turned to me. "You feeling a bit better now?"
I nodded, breathing deeply. Over by the kitchen, Georgia had climbed up onto one of the bar stools and was whispering in Levi's ear. He was gazing at us, a small smile on his face.
"Yeah," he chuckled. Georgia pulled back and grinned gleefully. "Really?!"
He leaned down and whispered in her ear, her little face practically glowing with excitement.
"I promise! Soon though?" She loud-whispered back, forgetting to lean in. He rolled his eyes, nodded and pinched her side playfully. Her laughter filled the room, and it was hard to resist.
The juice we'd had earlier suddenly hit me. "Hey Estelle, mind if I use your bathroom?"
Georgia jumped up. "I'll show you!"
"No no, I need you to show me your story. Levi, mind showing Danielle the way?" She smiled sweetly at her older brother. He stared at her for a few seconds, before pushing himself up and leaving the room without a word.
I threw Estelle a withering glance, before following in the direction Levi had walked in.
My body may have calmed down slightly, but I was still fighting significantly to not run and jump the guy. This was so unlike me, I'm a huge personality person and so far all I knew about this guy was nothing.
We walked in silence down a long network of hallways, and I kept about a meter or two behind him. I wondered what he thought of me. I was quite plain, so probably didn't really stand out all that much.
Suddenly he stopped, and I was too deep in my internal chaos that I didn't quite register, and went crashing into him.
His hands instantly grabbed my waist, steadying me and basically setting my skin on fire. Great, I sounded like a twelve year old talking about her first kiss. I was so frustrated at how weird things were in this town that I felt like screaming.
I was so shocked that all I could do was gape up at him. A wave of calm rushed through me, and I exhaled, paralysed. He stared back, looking shocked but still pained, his hands not moving.
And then as soon as it had happened, it was over. He dropped his hands and stepped back. "Bathroom's through that door. Careful not to trip." Then he left, leaving me alone feeling completely confused.
When I returned from the bathroom, I was feeling weird. A lot better, but strange. I couldn't explain it.
Georgia and Levi were gone, and Estelle was packing up the papers on the table.
