After having lunch with Richard, Mia was in a fix.
All she could do was ponder over his words, and all that she could think was that it was a really great offer.
However, accepting it would also mean working with Sebastian and that was definitely not something that she wanted to do.
Mia had somehow gone three years working in the same company as him, and yet staying out of his way. She felt like fate was working with her on this one and kept him away from her.
Now it felt like fate had just been toying with her all along, only to take a massive dump on her like this.
Mia thought that coming back to her home and talking to her flatmates, Nicole and Chloe, would help her come to a decision, however she overlooked one crucial factor...Sebastian was a good looking guy and so their opinion became biased due to this.
So you have the chance to be working for Sebastian Carter?" Chloe asked.
Ever since she'd come home from work, she had been sitting on the sofa in her pyjamas and listening to Nicole go on about Sebastian Carter and Chloe tell her to not pass up this opportunity.
"The Sebastian Carter?" Nicole repeated.
Mia suppressed the urge to roll her eyes at Nicole emphasising his name.
"The very one," Mia replied, sounding completely uninterested.
"Oh my God!" Nicole squealed, looking like a bunny on steroids in her excitement.
This time Mia really couldn't hold back the eye roll, and this was something Chloe noticed, including Mia's previous unenthusiastic tone.
"You don't even sound excited," Chloe pointed out.
"Because I'm not. Plus, I don't even know if I'm going to be saying yes," Mia replied.
Immediately, Nicole froze in her excited mode, as if ice-cold water had just been thrown on her.
"Mia, please tell me you're not actually thinking about saying no to this!?" Nicole yelled. When she noticed the blank look on her face, Nicole's eyes widened. "Mia, it's Sebastian Carter," She then said, once again putting a lot of emphasis on his name.
"You're going to wear out his name, Nic." Mia responded sarcastically.
Nicole almost had the urge to pull out her hair at how causal Mia is being about this - if only she didn't have pretty hair, she might actually have pulled it out.
"Chloe, please talk some sense into the girl," Nicole then said frustrated, falling onto the sofa dramatically to make her point.
Out of the three girls, Nicole Keahi was the more the outgoing type. She was definitely the kind of girl you noticed when she walked into the room, most likely because she probably walked in yelling, but still she was incredibly beautiful not to notice.

Her shoulder-length, dark-brown hair and bouncy curls seemed liked it had its' own personality. Nicole worked for a fashion magazine, and her room often looked like a tornado had hit, clothes thrown about in her attempt to get ready.
Calm, cool and collected, were not words you would use to describe Nicole.
Chloe was the mother-hen of the three. Sensible, caring and never afraid to call the two out on something. Her sleek, straight, jet-black hair stood out against her fair skin.
Chloe Soo's passion was definitely health, and since she was a personal trainer at the gym, she took health seriously. Which often led to arguments between the three, when Nicole or Mia brought unhealthy snacks - yet they never stopped doing it.
The three girls first met at university. They all happened to visit the library at the same time, Mia was sitting at a table by herself and since there were no other tables free, Nicole and Chloe asked to sit with Mia. Since that moment, the three became best friends, and later on flatmates when all three moved to live in the city together.
"Nicole's right, Mia," those words alone from Chloe, caught Mia's attention since they were rarely used. "You're getting the chance to work with the Carter heir himself."
Once again, Mia felt the urge to roll her eyes at the statement.
'Carter heir, more like Carter prick,' Mia thought.
"It's work for," Mia pointed out. "I'm not going to be working with him, I'm only going to be his assistant," she replied.
"Whatever, you'll still be in the office next to him," Nicole piped up.
Mia really wanted to throw something at her.
"I don't want to be near him," she stated. "I want to be the furthest away from him."
"Said no girl, ever." Nicole then muttered.
Not being able to help herself, Mia picked up a pillow from beside her and threw it at Nicole, who then glared at her.
"What is this really about, Mia?" Chloe asked.
She had a feeling there was more to it and Mia instantly stiffened at the question, not wanting to think about the past, not anymore.
Before she could reply, Nicole brought out a magazine, almost shoving it in Mia's face.
"This!" Nicole exclaimed. "This is the man you're thinking of saying no to. He's in GQ! You know what that means?" she asked.
Mia leant back, not liking being so up close to Sebastian's face, even if it was in a magazine.
"Uh..." Is all she could say, but Nicole completed the answer for her.
"Hotness overloaded!" She shouted.
"I'm not going out with the man," Mia said in pure disgust at even the thought.

"You'll still be in his presence. He's like royalty!" Nicole shouted, again.
"Barely," Mia snorted.
At this point, Mia felt like she was going to pull a muscle in her eyes from rolling it every time Sebastian's name was mentioned - it was like an instant reaction.
"Okay forget about, Sebastian." Chloe then said.
Nicole looks at her wide-eyed. "What!?"
"Nicole." Chloe said in a stern tone, which immediately stopped her from saying anything else.
"Fine," Nicole mumbled, and sat on the sofa, hugging a cushion and pouting like a child who just got told off.
Chloe look to Mia with a more serious expression this time.
"His father offered you the opportunity to work in the other departments, like marketing. Remember how much you enjoyed that module at uni?" Chloe reminded Mia.
She nodded in response, remembering how much she loved that module, finding it to be the most fun for her.
"Yeah, you really loved it. You got the highest in the year for that," Nicole said.
Chloe shook her head, of course Nicole wasn't going to stay quiet for long.
"I get that Richard Carter said that he would still help you, even if you say no to his offer but really, Mia, this could be more beneficial to you," Chloe told her.
Mia nodded, knowing she was right.
"I know," she replied in a soft voice.
"You say that you want more experience, well then this is the perfect way. How else are you going to know what you can do, if you don't try?" Chloe pointed out.
Sometimes Mia really hated it when Chloe was right.
"Maternity leave is like, what? Six to seven months right? That how long you have to stick it out for," Chloe added, not wanting her best friend to miss out on something which may even be her calling.
"It's too long, just a day in his presence will make me crazy," Mia stated, just the thought of Sebastian irritated her.
She'd forgotten that she had to remain his assistant for as long as Sophie would be gone on maternity leave. A dreaded thought then came over Mia.
'What if Sophie didn't want to go back? Or she wanted to stay away longer?'
An actually end date was something Mia could even work with, but she couldn't do forever with him. She'd quit before that.
"Why do you hate him so much?" Chloe suddenly asked.
Mia froze at the question.
It was the part of her she really tried to forget and move on from, but somehow she just found her way back to it, without even trying.
"I just...I just do okay," Mia replied, putting her face in her hands.
"Can't you tell us?" Nicole now asked in a soft voice.
Seeing the reaction Mia just gave worried both the girls, since they had never seen her like this before.
Mia looked up at the both of them and sighed, she didn't want to tell them the actual truth, but they deserved some kind of answer.
"I spent a long time trying to forget it all. I almost did, but then I started working at Carter. I didn't even know he worked there, you know how oblivious I can be sometimes," Mia told them.
"Yeah, really oblivious," Nicole muttered.
"We didn't even know about your interview there until after you told us," Chloe said.
Mia let out a deep breath. "I know, I just thought it'd be another failure. If it wasn't for you guys, I wouldn't of known he worked there."
For someone who thought she was smart, Mia felt so dumb the moment she found out that Sebastian was a part of Carter. It wasn't just some random-named company.
Chloe noticed the look Mia had on her face.
"You really hate him?" She asked her, but already knowing the answer.
"I do," Mia stated.
"I won't ask you what he's done," Chloe said, and Mia looked at her, "-but you'd be making a huge mistake if you don't take the opportunity," she continued.
Nicole nodded her head in agreement.
"She's right, Mia. Look his hotness aside, from what you said, it sounded like Richard Carter would really appreciate you being his son's assistant. Imagine the doors he could then help you open," she pointed out.
"After this, you can even ask him to help you find a job in another company if that's what you want. I'm sure he has the connections," Chloe suggested.
This hadn't even occurred to Mia. If she somehow, miraculously lasted the months working for Sebastian, then maybe she could take up a job elsewhere and never see him again.
"When does he want an answer by?" Nicole asked.
"Sunday evening. If I say yes, Monday morning I have a meeting with Sebastian, and Sophie will start my training. Then in a couple of weeks I'll start," Mia informed them.
"So you have some time. Just think about it, without bias towards your hate," Chloe said.
Mia realised she couldn't let her feelings become an obstacle in her life.
"I will," she nodded.
Then, in typical Nicole fashion, she changed the subject...no so subtly.
"Okay so moving on, checkout Chris Hemsworth in GQ," she said and the both girls laughed.
The rest of the night, Mia was left thinking of the past.
